The problem was with the equipment. It wasn't swept, the right tail light didn't work, and i didn't receive the hand dolly, for which I'd like to be refunded. I called roadside assistance about the light and dolly, but 1-3 hours was too long as I was on a schedule and needed to be at my destination by 1:30.Ann W.

I have been using UHaul since I was in college and never had a terrible experience, until this period. I am a customer from Maryland traveling to Chicago and I have three complaints. The first complaint discusses the auto transport I rented. I was driving from Maryland to West Virginia, up and down hills and I discovered that both straps to my tire were not secured correctly by the Baltimore location I rented from. Not only does the thought of this is frighten me, but I could have put myself and others in danger. The second complaint is calling roadside assistance and being placed on hold for 30 minutes to discuss the next steps for a tire pressure warning. After trying to read UHaul's manual and failed, I called the location I rented from and his excuse was that roadside assistance is busy during this time of the month. My third and final compliant is the inability to accelerate while I was pulling my vehicle on the auto transport. I only averaged 25 mph and could only reach speeds of 55 mph. Unfortunately, this turned a 12 hour trip to a 17 hour trip to Chicago. rented an auto transport and the straps were not secured correctly. I drove from Maryland to West Virginia, up and down hills, when I pumped for gas, I discovered that both straps were off.Paris W.

The location is in a barely discernable location. There are 2 businesses operating from 1 office. Drove around for 15 minutes trying to locate a empty office. Rang door multiple times for scheduled appt. Senior 'owner' states that he was 'unaware' of my pick up. Stated that the rental was probably made by his son. The truck I used was 'extremely' old and rickety.... As though it was falling apart. Returned truck under 7 hours but it was not checked in the next day when I called to confirm the cost. The person I spoke to was "EXTREMELY" rude! It did not sound like the same elderly man I spoke to the day before. I told him to give me the breakdown of the bill and he was reluctant cutting me off to tell me that it was on the email as though he just did not want to talk to me. When he got to the fact that there was a gas charge I was explaining why no gas was added due to the low mileage us (11 miles) the gauge didn't move and We simply didn't know how much to add. I had NO problem with the $5.00 charge but he became defensive and hostile as though I was refuting the charge. I also mentioned that there was a dolly charge even though the day before the senior person told me he had not charged me and that he would give it to me for anyway. Once again I was only stating the facts it was not to complain about the $10 charge but this person begin to tear into me about not only putting gas back into the truck but that I was clueless for expecting there to be no charge for the dolly. He went on to say "free for what." At that point I informed him that he was being extremely rude wherein he made some snarly comment and hung up in my face. I have rented from U-Haul for 35 years or more and lived in over four states and I have never experienced such terrible customer service skills in my lifetime! This person makes you ALL look bad whether he be the senior or the younger Mr. Blake. I would never rent from them again and I will make sure I tell others not to do so as well!!!Esther L.
