This location is at the convenience store across from a housing project. It is sketchy as f*ck. The truck had 130K miles on it, but to its credit worked fine. When I got to the vehicle, I found a half-eaten chicken wing on the hood...George K.

My reservation has to be revoked on site because the first location I booked online only has one truck which was broken. I then had to catch another Uber to the Chouteau location. Where one of the workers was smoking a cigarette inside. I had to pay an extra $25 in Uber fares because Uhaul allowed me to book a broken truck.Darby L.

Multiple customers were booked the same exact truck which led to a delay in being able to use the equipment. Person on site had no knowledge of how to fix the issue, just gave a number to call. Both myself and on site personnel called and got two different reps both actively in the same account trying to change things. Was charged for things I didn't want for the trip as well.Micheal P.

The mobile process was not set up at this location, the store owner did not seem to be familiar with the process or how to help, despite setting a pickup time the person who had the keys and the dollies (which should have been in the truck and ready to go) did not show up until called by the store owner.Allison Z.

The first issue was when I was alerted that I had to pick up my truck at a different location than that which I had scheduled to a location in a highly crime-ridden part of town. When I went to pick up the truck, I attempted to use the app to avoid troubling the store owner. When I called U-Haul I was simply told I had to be on site for it to work. It did not. I had to go into the store (a very shady place) and the store owner called -Haul. After several attempts with no answer he gave up and I had to call. When we finally got through, about 20 minutes later, we were told my truck number. The truck was not there. I had to go through an arduous ordeal with a very lovely woman on the phone who kept sending me links to take and upload pictures of my drivers license. This did not work properly. After four attempts, I was required to give her contact info for two close friends/family members. Finally, I was given a new truck number, which was on the lot. When I opened the door of the truck, I was hit with the awful smell off significant pent-up cigarette smoke. As I got into the cab, there was a large paper cup in the cup holder that was nearly 1/2 full of cigarette butts! It was disgusting. The truck had approximately 1/16 tank of gas. The process had taken at least 45 minutes, during which I got a message from the moving company that they had arrived at my storage shed to load the truck. By the time I got to the storage shed, the movers had left for another job and I had to wait 3 additional hours before they could return. During the break, I went home and did my best to clean the cab and remove the cigarette smell. Despite my extreme dislike for cigarettes, I have severe asthma. Though we did a pretty good job cleaning the cab, the smell lingered. After 2 and 1/2 days driving, the truck was unloaded and I couldn't wait to return the truck (3 days early). As the contract required, I filled up the gas to1/2 tank (despite having picked the truck up with almost none). I had been warned not to use U-Haul, and wish now I had headed the advice. I still have not gotten rid of the cough that I developed because of the cigarette smell, and have had to make alternate plans to pick up furniture that I had purchased. I mentioned most of this to Donna Metzgar when I dropped off the truck. She could not have been nicer not more apologetic. U-Haul need to immediately quit using the location where I had to pick up my truck. At a minimum, U-Haul should reimburse me for the $50.00 I had to spend to get the gas 1/2 tank (California Prices). I believe they should also reimburse me 3 days of my rental due to the condition of the cab. If they do, I would happily add an addendum to this post that they actually care. Until then, I recommend you use a different company.Michael T.
As a single female, this location felt "sketchy" upon arrival. The person at the front was not the person that took my information, I did that over the phone with someone that the person at the desk had called. It was not a terrible experience but I did not appreciate that the individual was smoking as he was taking care of getting the rental.MICHAEL G.

I was first told to pickup UHaul at a Normandy location which looked like a junk yard with a hi security fence around it. They were not open and they did not have the UHaul. I was then told to go to Chouteau location 14 miles from my house. This location also had a security fence. I had to wait 5 minutes for someone to show up that apparently knew what to do when dealing with UHaul. The positive for the location is it was close to I-40. It seemed unsafe however.David V.
The location does not have extra equipment handy. It would be nice to rent a furniture dolly but you didn't have it. The truck has very high mileage but drives well enough. I will recommend Uhaul to friends.Rex T.
The truck was down to an 1/8th of a tank when they gave it to me and I had to immediately fill it with gas. Then when I returned it at the end of my rental period with a half tank of gas, they charged me $21 on my bill with a refuel charge. I not only had to pay to fill it but then they charged me again for the gas I used.Emily E.

This is just my perspective, but while the location I picked up may be described as, "shady," or, "dangerous looking," not every location in the United States which needs the services U-Haul can provide will be pretty to look at. I've seen some of the reviews of this location and they tend towards the negative. That's why I took the time to write this review. My recommendation would be to provide a better photo or two of the location so that people who may not want to go to that type of location will avoid it, rather than be surprised and feel negatively about their experience.Jonny M.

The location is terrible,so much misinformation and lack of communication between coworkers. On top of having to use the app/website to turn in the uhaul. The app and website are awful as well and don't really work which added stress at the end of the journey renting from them. I would recommend anyone to go to an actual uhaul store and not this rundown â€œconvenienceâ€ storeLarry R.

Wasn't very satisfied. I reserved ahead and the person at the front counter said I didn't have a reservation. He called the store manager/owner and he also said I had no reservation. After multiple attempts he found the reservation but quoted 400 dollars felt it was wrong then quoted 144 dollars for 24 hrs +40 miles if I had a choice then I would have cancelled. Then the truck was almost empty and had the check engine light one. Steering was poor and felt out of alignment. I returned the truck with more gas than I received and was initially charged $22 for gas but I disputed. I walked away from this experience not sure if I'd use U-Haul again. I definitely wouldn't use that location even they they were nicejesse W.
Location changed by Uhaul last minute. Sketchiest business I have ever been in, the employee was smoking inside and handed me a phone to talk with someone from Uhaul for the check-in. Never signed a Uhaul rental agreement contract or even saw one, and the signature on the agreement emailed to me was not my signature. No inspection of the vehicle prior to leaving. No confirmation of mileage or gas before leaving. Salama Supermarket should not be used by Uhaul.Eric S.

I was extremely disappointed with U haul for several significant reasons. 1) When I arrived to the pick up location, I answered a few questions with the person serving me, but to my surprise I did not fill out any forms. I had never used u-haul before, so I did not think much of it at the time. It wasn't until later, when I was emailed the contract with a signature that was NOT my own, that I realized the location had filled out everything and forged my signature. I found this extremely disturbing and illegal. 2) the inside of the truck had trash and broken glass all over the floor. It was as if no one had even checked or maintained it. 3) when I returned the truck (moments after filling it up at the gas station), I was charged a $35 gas fee. I asked for an explanation since I had returned it at the same level in which I found it. This was my first and only experience with uhaul. I used to think they were the â€œtop of the lineâ€ when it came to moving rentals. I was wrong.Adam F.
An unmanned location, and the 24/7 app basically doesnt work, so it took about an hour to call U-Haul, get to the right people, make the dropoff. Parking lot is small to drop off 26' truck. Tight space. Staff inside market didn't seem to care too much about where the truck was left. Neighborhood made me leery of leaving appliance dolly and moving blankets in the back but staff inside ensured it was okay. Placed items in back of truck close to moms attic area. I ill have to say, I understand what the neighborhood UHaul dealers are, but this is a supermarket, so there was no handoff to show how to use the tow dolly and walk around the truck after getting the keys. Something else to add, my reservation was moved 2 times because my selected nearby site did not have a 10ft truck, then the truck was dropped off at the wrong location which was 21 miles away from my location. Then I was asked to pickup the truck at the supermarket and drive to pickup the tow dolly at a different location. My overall experience with the pickup has been totally unsatisfactory.Lance F.

The only thing I want to complain about is having to drive 40 miles to pick up the truck when I made the reservation a month ahead of time. I Picked a location closer to home. And was very surprised there wasn't a available truck close to my location. When you call the day before to inform us, leaves us with very little options.Lisa B.

Process and location was fast and easy. Only downfall would be the trailer we used literally said "one way U-Haul", even online when we were searching for a motorcycle utility trailer we were able to pick up at 63103 location and drop off at 63138 location. Although we didn't reserve online, we saw that as an option. Once we were done with the trailer, I called Lusher 63138 location to see if were able to drop off at that location. They advise NO, that we would be charged a lot if we did. On the contract it says "location pick up" but I didn't see where it said we had to drop off at same location. Only indication was the actual drop-off process online; saying we had to be at same location where we picked up. It wasn't a big ordeal, but was really inconvenient being that the equipment literally says one-way and that we lived down the street from Lusher location. Would have rated 5 star if we were able to utilize the ONE WAYDANIELLE L.

This location should absolutely be shut down as a Uhaul pickup spot. They rented us a truck that had clearly been in an accident. When we asked about it, they said that the truck had been checked out and was fine. They also said that all of the damage had been documented. Neither of this was true. When I went to take â€œbeforeâ€ pictures of the truck in the Uhaul app, the pictures they had on file were of a pristine truck. In addition, after we got the truck home and packed for our 14 hour cross country move, we noticed that the turn signal light had fallen out of the front headlight (which had a bunch of damage to it) and was not usable. We ended up having to wait for several hours while Uhaul maintenance came and worked on it and eventually had to replace the entire headlight unit altogether as they said there was plastic damage to the casing and it could fall out at any minute on the road. The maintenance people were shocked that the Uhaul rental place would rent a truck in that condition to us. I would carry all of my belongings across country before ever renting from this location again.Katherine J.

We went to our preferred location, only to be told they did not have a truck for us.
