There was an error with the equipment that was assigned to me and what the actual equipment. This delayed the checkout process. Additionally, there is only one person at the location who is also handling the vape shop. She was nice and did her best, but she had to keep stepping away to help other customers.Denise Q.

the location was great. the uhaul app cant be trusted. the check out process (with clerk) was relatively smooth, although the DL scans from the reservation did not stick and had to be taken again. the check in process (mobile app) was problematic. the location could not be found on the map. the directions on the app were unclear. i was never prompted to enter fuel gauge or odometer reading. i was charged for fuel even though i gassed up the truck. the clerk in the store was apologetic but unable to assist with correcting the overcharge error.Alexis P.
Lighting was virtually nonexistent in the high traffic area that was semi ruralâ€¦ Making our decision to wait until morning to pick up our truck quite an easy one. Safety first. We did NOT feel safe. Perhaps the biggest nuisance was that the GPS using the app said we were not in the right location, we tried it 10 times while sitting right in front of the correct store itself. No luck. Had to come back the next day which was a minor inconvenience considering our our original plans for loading the truck Friday night instead of Saturday mid day.Eric W.

I called Troy to verify their hours so I would know if I need to do an after hours drop off. The woman I spoke with assured me they would be open until 5pm. I showed up with the truck at 4:40 AND IT WAS CLOSED, no one in sight. Unfortunately, my phone battery had died so I could not login and learn the drop off procedures, so all I could do was lock up the vehicle and drop the keys in the drop off box. This frustrated me greatly, as I didn't know what I might have missed.Doug H.

Truck was newer and fine but not clean. Only had 40% fill with gasoline. Windshield was filthy, inside was dirty and not disinfected, back of truck had dirty sheets and blanket that were not removed.Michael A.
I reserved the truck to be picked up in Charlottesville. UHaul moved the pick up location further away and charged me for the mileage. I asked if I would get additional mileage because of the difference when I picked up the truck. The person there just said â€œI don't know you'll have to call themâ€. It took a long time to check in our UHaul one way truck from Ohio at this location. Not really sure why but this location also seems to be a convenience store, UPS drop off, and Fed Ex drop off location as well as a UHaul location. So LOTS of traffic and distraction to the clerk behind the cash register. Especially by the FED EX personnel, and customers with FED EX and UPS packages to mail. My UHAUL drop off worked fine, but it took a long time until the person running everything finally got to me. Fine location but be prepared to WAIT a :LONG time....Ralph V.

I originally had a reservation with Millers Market in Mineral Virginia. They called me the morning that I was to pick up the trailer that I reserved weeks prior saying that they did not have it and that Uhaul should have called me, which did not happen. The lady at Millers Market abruptly said she was canceling the reservation and offered no real assistance in what I could do. I was able to call Jonny's Quick Stop, who did not have the size trailer that I needed, but who did provide me with a number to call in Richmond, Va. I did call and was helped and found the size trailer I needed at an acceptable location. The lady at Safe Ship (not the owner) was so incredibly nice and helpful; she was AMAZING. My reservation experience was not so amazing, in fact it caused me much distress and anxiety. I cannot believe the I could make a reservation WEEKS ahead of time and get a call the morning that I was to pick up the trailer saying that it was not available. That is no was for a business to operate and is just unacceptable. I have rented from Uhaul previously and did not expect such poor business management.RUSSELLPHILLIP K.

The individual that had to come to the location to break into the lock box to access the keys appeared annoyed that he had to come to do this task. I was charged an extra 20 bucks, for supposedly turning in the truck at half fuel, however returned it full. The employee who I backed in the truck for did not bother to check, just told me I would receive a receipt via email in a little.Bryce H.
Our experience yesterday with mobile pick-up was very disappointing. First, the mobile process took quite some time to complete, and included unexpected phone calls to "verify" phone numbers of alternates. The reservation form and mobile site only asked for two contacts, but the phone attendant said we needed three. That should have been made clear and requested online and it could have been planned in advance. Spending twenty minutes in the parking lot to complete the mobile pick-up process was not part of our plan and should either take less time or be clearly stated online so that timing can be adjusted to allow for that. However, most disappointingly, after the mobile process was complete it directed us to a lockbox with a combination code. The code given worked, but we found the key box empty. A UHaul attendant on the phone (Wesley, who was very kind) helped us open the remaining boxes, and they were also empty. The van was in the lot, and was actually unlocked, but no key could be found. The van was dirty with cigarette remnants and ashes, as well as discarded junk food throughout. Since the proprietor did not open until 9:00, we were forced to wait until he appeared to get further assistance as to the location of the key. That put our day behind significantly, adding extra stress, but also costing extra money, as we had movers on the clock whether the truck was there or not. When the proprietor arrived, he was not at all apologetic and was accusatory to us because we had left the empty lock boxes open. He did not seem concerned that he had inconvenienced us or mismanaged our reservation. He placed full blame on U-haul. I had to insist that he accompany me to the vehicle before we departed to evaluate the condition of the van and to confirm the gas and odometer readings, as he was just going to hand the key over to me and send me on my way. We left and upon arriving at our location, we found that we were missing the reserved furniture pads. When we returned the van and mentioned that to the proprietor, he said we should have asked for them. He also clearly did not remove the pads from our invoice. I want reimbursement for the furniture pads that we did not have, as well as further compensation for our poor experience and unprofessional customer service at the pick-up/drop-off location.Douglas H.

The gentleman who checked me out did not seem that very friendly and had a little hint of alcohol on his breath. He also had to re-enter my reservation information at the store two separate times, even though I had already done that via online reservation. The trailer that I had rented had a damaged fender on the driver's side, which was unmarked with an X, so before I departed the rental location I had to bring this up to the gentleman to ensure this damage was not marked against me (since I didn't cause the damage). Therefore, I am not sure he even checked the equipment when it was returned by the previous people.Ivan K.

I was advised by the manager on duty to hook up the moving trailer myself that he didn't have time to go with me. The trailer was parked on a slight incline and when I lifted to hook it rolled forward and damaged my truck. Filed a claim with u haul and it was denied because the manager on duty was not truthful with his story. BEWARE!!!DAVID B.
They were late opening, and I called a couple days before to verify. They asked me if I could hook up the trailer myself, which I did but I had him verify the hookup. It was on my walk around of the trailer that I saw the right tail light was broken,He had not checked the trailer since it was turned in from the last rental, Its an LED light and it was mostly working so I used the trailer anyway but I made him list it as broken before I left. Be careful with the itemized list of items rented. I rented a utility dolly but was billed for a furniture dolly. As price was the same and the drop off location rep took my word for it, there was no issue. However, it could have created a problem. Also, the truck was in good shape but the back had obviously not been swept out. I had to sweep it before I could use it.Richard W.
