Good having the drop off point at a gas station but the parking was lacking and gas was more than 0.10 a gallon vs down the street

The owner was absolutely awful. We are new to the area and we’re confused where to park the truck. He walked up to us in a threatening manner and told us to just park it and leave. We told him we were just trying to figure out where to park and he told us we had to leave. He also stated that he is not the one to mess with. He threatened my mother and got in her face. This is completely unacceptable behavior. I felt physically threatened and almost called the police for safety.

My truck was pretty dirty, high mileage, and several defects(armrest broken, seat would not go fully back and 12 v outlet broken. The engine light was on about half the time which made me nervous the truck would break down and strand me. The girl working there was courteous and professional.

So you rent trucks that’ have 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 and F displayed. Yet, there is a 7/8 on the sheet. I took a picture before I drove off, it showed a tick after 3/4. When returning after going 16 miles, I put 2.5 gallons in at and got it back to a tick after 3/4. Yet they charged me for 4.1 gallons of gas. I will be sending an email up the chain as this is a straight up rip off.

I was a given a truck much larger than I requested. I told them I needed a van but I was still given a box car and there were plenty of vans available. I believe they just wanted to get more money from me per mile, which is quite frustrating because we are a small non-profit.

There wasn’t any parking spots left when i came to drop it off. The woman working there helped but it was stressful. UHaul has ashes and a lighter in it. Smelled like cigarettes.

I picked up my truck through the Uhaul app on Jan 1st. The physical location was closed. I requested a dolly handtruck to assist my move and even called ahead of time to ensure the dolly was going to be in the truck. Well guess what wasn't in the truck? There was no dolly and since the physical location was closed, I had no recourse. As a result my move doubled in time and energy. This was an incredibly bad experience and I will no longer be renting with Uhaul.

The vehicle had two piece of card board in the back when I picked it up so I left there when I dropped it off and was charged a $25 cleaning fee for something that wasn't mine. I have had better experience at every other uhaul location never had I come across something like this. But learned my lesson not to go to this location again. Not just because of that but because they tried to also charge me a over night fee thank God that was returned to me since when I returned it there was someone there that said since I could close my contract just to leave the key and there would be no extra charge for it.bit this has been worst place I have been in a while uhaul should really work on this place to bring it up to standard with the others.

Mileage out was mentioned wrong in the bill. Nobody told me to check the mileage before picking up the Cargo van but when i returned the van then they added extra 10 miles. when i reported the issue they told me that "why did you not check before taking it "?. As a customer we trust buisness to enter correct information. As a customer i feel cheated so i definitely would not recommend. Its their responsibility to mention correct mileages in the bill when going out and when its returned.

This haul dealer is very good. This was my first time using the app and I thought it could have been better. I had to wait over 20 minutes for my ID to get approved. Location staff was not able to help because I used the app. Next time I will reserve with the staff at the location. Taking pics of the dents in the truck was time consuming. Same with return.

The staff at this location was rude and aggressive. I returned my truck with the level of gas specified on my contract. The staff was combative and rude and lied saying I needed to fill the truck up or they’d charge me u til I showed them the copy stating the truck did not have to be full. They were also very unhelpful and combative. I would not recommend this location. These people need to be trained in how to be polite. This is perhaps the rudest place I have ever done business with and I work in customer service.

Very small location with a few truck options. I was given a truck with 90 000 miles on the odometer, which concerned me given that I had to drive 1100 miles. I asked for a newer truck and was told that this was the truck assigned to me. I was so worried all the way that something mechanical was going to go wrong with the truck and that I would be stuck somewhere over Thanksgiving weekend.

Very disappointed in the customer service, this was a short term rental. I need to extend my contract, took over 1 hour on the phone to finally extend the contract until the follow morning. Even with the extension the entire rental was less than 24 hours. Was told by customer service that I had until 1:30 pm next day to return the vehicle with NO Additional Charge, when I returned the vehicle at 12:10 pm, less than the full time, I was charged a second day!! Buyer beware, even though I received text message extending my contract I was charged a second day upon returning the vehicle!

I was charged a $100 late fee even though i returned the truck early. This is unacceptable and the issue has not been resolved. Also, the mobile app kept crashing. Terrible experience. Only good thing was the people there were helpful getting me a truck after the app kept crashing. I expect my refund asap or this issue will be escalated.

Had to return the vehicle after hours. There was an attendant in the convenient store who I asked where was the best place to leave the truck. He said park it anywhere. Apparently where I parked it was over tanks for the gas station. I had a problem with the online check-in so I left the truck to return in the morning to drop off the key and go thru the check-in process. Where I had parked prevented a morning fuel delivery. Of course the owner got upset with me saying I shouldn't have parked there. I replied I was not told where to park the truck. I was told anywhere. He was very rude and unprofessional.

I was charged a $25 cleaning fee for 10 or so leaves in the back of the truck. I am calling my credit card company to dispute the charge. they sent me a picture which I can supply but this is bad business, bad customer service and bad faith.

This location makes a habit of not telling their paying customers they must park off site. After a day of moving, I came back to find my car gone. When I asked the attendant if I had been towed, he said gave sarcastic responses. I looked at Google reviews and noticed many other customers have had similar experiences with this location. I hope things will turn around because otherwise the truck was clean and well maintained. But I will never again rent a truck from this location.

The pick up process takes more time than you might imagine, for me about 35 minutes, so budget enough time to do that before you need the vehicle. This longer than expected time was NOT because the service provider was slow or distracted, in fact, they were great. They were friendly, helpful and thorough. It just takes a while to do all of the elements associated with picking up the rental. The personnel at this location were very professional, and they had exactly the equipment I had reserved.

This particular vehicle was the nicest I’ve ever received. Somebody called me in the morning to offer videos on how to do it. Only thing-last time I rented was my first time doing online checkin. I hadn’t gotten a call and had a question. I walked into the gas station to ask a question and the young man up front was jarringly rude. It took restraint to not give it back go him. Might want to talk to the station owner about Him.

The mobile website pickup process was easy, however the dropoff of the equipment was ambiguous, stressful, and resulted in a lot of wasted time and frustration. 45 minutes after I left the location I received an invoice for services as expected, but I also received an accident report for supposed damage to the returned equipment. No staff member offered to look over the truck when I returned it. The damage cited in the report was on the vehicle when I picked it up in the morning, and it was in the photos of the truck that were prompted to me by the mobile website. Upon returning to the location after receiving the accident report, staff at were unable to produce any evidence that the damage was not on the truck in the morning when I picked it up. I then spent an hour on the phone with two U-Haul customer service representatives (the first representative found the situation too difficult to handle and then left me on the line for 20 minutes) to initiate an investigation into the damages claimed by staff at the location. Going forward, I will not use this location again for any rentals, and I am not confident in U-Haul or its mobile website pickup offerings.

Renting a truck is more complicated than it might seem because of the paperwork--especially with a one-way and Reston Mobil was first rate. Explained everything from start to finish. 10' foot truck was new, powerful and clean. and available as scheduled. Both Reston and then U-Haul sent repeated messages with updates and assurances that all was ready and it was. Friendly, professional, reliable. The truck was as promised--clean, safe, and great on the road.

I originally rented a truck, furniture pads, and an appliance dolley which I received and used for about 4 days. When I returned the truck the owner told me that the dolley and pads were left off of the original estimate and that I would have to pay for them. He then modified the original contract and accepted it for me before I could say anything. I just wanted to get out of there so I paid it. Probably won't use UHaul again and never going back to this location.

Truck doors are hard to close, have to be slammed. There is no door ajar warning, so you have to find a pull off so you can close the passenger door.

Location did not clearly indicate where exactly the drop off area was and it was confusing as it was behind a gas station. After parking a gentleman made jokes with me and took the key to the rental truck and we left. The next day I received a call at 3pm asking when I would be returning the truck. I explained that I dropped it off yesterday, a day early, and he said he forgot to check it in upon drop off. I then received a receipt charging me for a full extra day and I had to call back to explain myself and to have the charge removed. Everything has since been resolved but I would not recommend this location due to its confusing location and lack of signage and the carelessness of the staff.

You could stop the $20 after-hours return scam -- especially when "after hours" is considered after 3 p.m. When I tried to use the link from my smart-phone to process the return a few minutes after 4 p.m., I was not allowed to enter an odometer reading above four digits. No matter how I entered it, a decimal point was inserted after four numbers. I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels cheated by the return process. It makes U-Haul seem like a nickle-and-dime operation, shaking down people for $20.

The owner operator of the pick up location had a terrible attitude and negatively impacted my prior strong positive experience with renting UHaul vehicles for over 40 years. The vehicle he issued for my one way interstate move was in poor mechanical and safety condition. Fuel efficiency was about 50 percent less than the other 5 rental trucks I had on an almost identical route over the past 8 months.

The manager there is very unprofessional. I called the morning of my reservation and was told my truck was there and ready. When we got there he had rented it to someone else. We had a 20’ truck reserved and he gave us a15’ truck. That truck was too small which required us to make an additional trip. If I would have gotten what I was supposed to my move would have been a success. Instead I was verbally assaulted by the manager of the location. The way he conducts busses is totally unacceptable. I WILL NEVER USE U-HAUL AGAIN! I will tell everyone I know what happened and I’ve put it all over social media. The man should be removed from that position. I could go on about the horrible experience but I’m sure it’s falling on deaf ears. So thanks but no thanks to u-hail ever again.

MOST TERRIBLE MOVING EXPERIENCE EVER - PLEASE READ FULL REVIEW BELOW. You guys need to remove this company from your website. They completely NO SHOWED on the day/time of our move, and my wife and I were stuck last minute having to move our entire place by ourselves, when we live on the 3rd floor with no elevator! They even sent me a link for a form to fill out, with date/time/address/items of the move, and when I called/emailed them over 15 times prior to our move in order to Confirm they were coming - they never answered and the one phone number had a full voicemail. What's the point of advertising for a company that isn't established enough to actually stick true to helping your customers. I know this isn't directly related through Uhaul, but you best believe that I will never trust your moving help services ever again. It was the most shitty move that I've had because I wasn't able to prepare other friends to help me move - as I expected to have moving help that I paid for. You're only hurting your reputation by offering services from companies that just blow your customers off. To top this off - Uhaul Reston VA location also charged me an extra day for my truck rental, all because they were too lazy to open the key lock box and walk the property to confirm that my truck was indeed parked out back....which I delivered the same day I rented it. I've only wasted about 1.5 hours of my time going in circles through your phone lines and getting transferred to only wait on hold for 15-30 minutes at a time, with nobody who actually wanted to help file a dispute for a refund. Let's just say, this has been an awful experience both with Uhaul and your moving helpers that you advertise for. Will be going with other moving options outside of Uhaul moving forward. But to be honest, the extra day that I was fraudulently charged due to the lack of attention/care from the Reston VA Uhaul, the fact that we paid for moving help and they straight NO SHOWED where my wife and I were stuck doing the move ourselves (which took 7 hours, not the 2-hours that I had paid moving help for), and also that I've now wasted close to 2-hours of my time trying to get all of these refunds - it's probably fair to say that Uhaul should probably refund me for the truck rental itself if you actually care about your customers and the experience that you've provided. You do that, you'll again earn my business for a truck rental - but never again for your moving help services.

The truck I had reserved was given away by the manager to a different customer before I arrived right on time for my reservation. When the associate who was tasked with helping me find another truck found one at Old Ox, there was a disconnect in the system and communication between the two locations that resulted in me having a cancelled reservation, no truck, and a back and forth trip between Reston Mobil and Old Ox Uhaul. My experience would have been improved if the truck that I reserved was not given away to someone else, or that I was better informed on how best to actually get a truck from Uhaul. The only reason Reston Mobil gets 2 stars instead of 1 is because one of the associates was able to work with me to get a Van that thankfully fit all of my things alongside a discount for the inconvenience. Otherwise, the manager there was having issues with customers all day, some of which looked worse than mine.

I had issues with this location before. With the owners attitude and running his business. This time I used the mobile check in, following the steps through my phone. When I got to the steps of getting the truck key out of the locker, the key was not there. The key was inside the store and I had to go back to find out which truck was mine, and this stopped my login process because I never verified gas meter nor mileage. But while all of this going on and the process of getting the truck. There is an associate telling other customers "how he doesn't care about doing things, he can't wait till 10 for the next person to come in so he can go sleep in a truck". All of these crazy things. And I don't hold that to U-Haul but it is the location where I dropped off my truck over a year ago had a bad experience and a year later same thing.

The online pickup system is complicated to use. Why do you need our photo on file? We already gave you the drivers license number and you do not need to have a photo on file for in person pickup. This is a privacy concern for me. Additionally, we were having problems with the internet when trying to turn in the vehicle so when we went inside to physically turn in the key, we were told we’d be charged an after hours fee. Absolutely ridiculous. They had a person on site that is able to help, and we were two hours early on our drop off time, and there was no fee discussed upon pickup, nor on our paperwork.

The employees were excellent but I requested 24/7 pick up and when I got there it told me to wait until the store opened?? I lost an hour of my moving day. Also, when we got the truck, there were tons of ants crawling all through the storage area (getting ants all over our items). The location was great and the employees were very kind, but this is a serious issue that will prevent me from ever using Uhaul in the future.

The "express check-in" process was absolute crap. Took way too long, and I had to start over because it wasn't clear that I had to stay on the same screen to wait for approval. And why wasn't I prompted to do this BEFORE standing out there in the parking lot? So dumb. Hire a UX designer, stat. I won't rent from uhaul again until its better. Also, what the hell is up with people blowing up my phone and sounding annoyed when i'm not "on time" to pick it up? I rented it starting early, not knowing my exact schedule, just in case. I'm paying for it either way so why does it matter?
