Pick up truck door was stuck and there was no one to fix it. Viper bases were missing. I had to drive to multiple other locations to get the door fixed + to another location to add viper blades I got changed for the extra miles!!!

I made a reservation months in advance. Several days prior I was forced to pick up this truck at a different location in St. Louis, that had no one there to help (it was a "car wash" that was not open/functioning even). Your app and website did not work to do a "self check-in" despite several attempts. After several calls to Uhaul eventually someone would give me the code to the key lock box so I could get access to the truck. I had paid for a dolley and two dozen furniture pads already. These were not included in the truck. Also, upon driving the truck, I quickly realized there were no windshield wiper blades on the truck. An extreme safety hazard. Now several hours in (and delayed to our move) to our terrible Uhaul pick up experience, I had to drive to two other actual Uhaul locations to get windshield wipers (which I had to install myself since no one at Uhaul knew how to). Neither location (nor I was told any in the city) had any dollies for us. We were forced to move without one, again something I had already paid for and contracted for months in advance. Lastly, while dropping off the Uhaul in an entirely different state (1200 miles away) the two workers there could not be bothered whatsoever to help us. We arrived and asked how they were doing, and they sighed heavily, stated "BUSY" and threw their tools on the ground and walked off. When approached again to inform them we were there to drop the truck off, they rudely told us to "wait outside and they would be with us." We waited for over 30 minutes and they did not come outside once. Meanwhile no less than 13 Uhaul trucks had arrived to also be dropped off after us. They too were told to wait. I eventually went inside again and found the two workers just sitting there doing nothing. They told me to "leave the keys in the truck and leave." Not trusting them or Uhaul whatsoever at this point as a terrible business, I attempted to "self drop off" to protect myself, to which their app would not work again. I completed the process the best I could and dropped the key in the key drop and left. I understand moving is a stressful experience, and I don't expect help/much from companies in general, but at least the bare minimum of our agreed upon terms that we have contracted for (truck that works, location, supplies, ability to drop it off), given that I am paying your company $3000, is all I ask for. I have never used Uhaul in the past, as I have been so pleased with Penske (prompt, clean trucks that work, nice staff, no issues like the above ever), but was unfortunately not able to use Penske this move. I can tell, no matter what, in the future I will not be using Uhaul again and only using Penske. To all others, I would urge them to use Penske instead of Uhaul for their moving needs. They have never let me down in the last 4 cross-country moves I have done over the last 7 years.
Cameron UWhere do I begin? I flew in to the area, so I didn't have a vehicle of my own. So I Ubered to the location. When I arrived to the location on Feb 29th, 2024, I was unable to obtain the key to the U-Haul. The key was not in the lockbox that was provided to me. Since it was after hours, I couldn't reach anyone who could provide me with assistance. The customer service number basically told us to wait until 10am the following day to get in contact with the business. I was relying on the U-Haul to be my means of transportation while I was in town. Since I couldn't get the U-Haul, I had to use Uber again to get to the hotel I was staying at. So at 10am Mar 1st, 2024, I called the establishment several times and was immediately sent to voicemail. Fortunately, I have family in town so returning to the location wasn't as inconvenient this time. Upon arrival to the location, the lady in charge of the building informs me that the key was in a different lockbox. She unlocks the appropriate lockbox and hands me the U-Haul key. I go to start the truck and to my surprise the fuel level is around a 1/4 tank of fuel. I was already under a time constraint and this added inconvenience was not making my experience any better. After loading the truck with the items that I needed to transport, I filled the truck up with gas and proceeded to my destination. While heading to another state, it starts raining. To my surprise, when I turn the windshield wipers on, they are missing the wiping blades. So now I have to drive 400 miles in the rain without windshield wipers. Needless to say this has me ready to lose my mind. I was able to persevere through the ordeal and arrive to my destination. After unloading the items, I was beyond ready to end this experience. I get to the drop off location and there is a gate that requires a code to enter. On said gate, it says, "DO NOT BLOCK GATE". There is not an outside parking lot for the drop off location either. At this point, I'm close to just abandoning the truck, because it has been a long and stressful day. Instead, I contact customer service in order to determine how to proceed. Fortunately, there was a nearby parking lot next to the drop off location where I was able to leave the truck. I needed to keep the key since I couldn't drop them in a drop box, due to the drop off location being closed and the gate locked. I had to wait to the following day to return the key to the drop off location. There is only one word that comes to mind when I think about this experience, chaotic. That is putting it lightly. I hope no one ever has to deal with an experience like this. The only reason I gave one star is because I cant give zero stars. I'm very grateful I was able to accomplish what I needed despite this chaotic experience. I've typed all this to say, save yourself the hassle of dealing with this particular location.

SHARAUGHNA BI did not use the truck, I returned it within a few hours when the movers didn't show up. I live .03 miles away and was charged for 4 miles when I literally drove home and back there only. Charged for cleaning when nothing was used or touched except for the lock when I returned the truck. Can't the use be also determined by the amount of gas? They were very friendly and had no other concerns. Uhual is a great company and I have enjoyed using your trucks in the past.
