As I was last minute traveling to Missouri from Iowa to collect my grandfathers and the rest of my family‘s belongings from the storage unit we had being rented there.. I had called the location to where I had rented out the trailer in hopes that they had an enclosed 6x12 trailer available. The man told me they did but that it would not be allowed to be rented by me to put on my hitch because my car would not qualify for that type of trailer size. I said do you have anything a little bit smaller, he said well you'll have to come here and look at them… He asked how far away I was I said I'm about 26 minutes away he said well I don't think will be able to help you out with that today because we close at 5 o'clock and it was already 4:15 and renting a U-Haul takes too much time to get it done by five, I had let him know that this was an emergency and that I needed to get a trailer in order to keep traveling to Warrensburg and out of the five U-Haul locations I had already called after driving from where I live in Iowa which had been five hours already that he was the only one who had a trailer possibly even available that I could rent. I let him know how dire my need was for the trailer for my grandfathers and my families belongings would be auctioned off if not collected by the next day and I had already traveled five hours and didn't want to waste a trip that I was already on if I wasn't able to get a trailer! Once I got there he was very busy with other surrounding things and had me stop at a location where the trailers were parked at first to look at them and see which one I would like then I had to drive to his shop separately and he asked me which one I thought was the best I said the enclosed trailer 6 x 12 then he made me get back in my car and drive back to the area where they were parked at to get a serial number of that trailer then drive back to his shop to finish processing the payment in order for renting the trailer out, then I had to drive back to the location where the trailers are parked and he met me there to attach an open trailer to which was not my preference on what I would like to have ordered but he highly clarify that the 6 x 12 enclosed trailer would not suffice for my car. once he attached the hitch I had asked him if my wires from my hitch attachment looked OK because one of the wires was wrapped around something and became a discovery that for quite some time I must have been dragging the wires that were attached to my connection hitch, he told me yes everything looks fine everything is connected to his trailer and everything will work great! He told me to get in my car turn the car on and step on the brakes to make sure that the tail lights are working and everything and he assured me that they were I sign off on papers and on my phone from a link that he had sent me that had me answer questions about the trailer itself. I drove all the way to Missouri and 25 minutes prior to my destination in Warrensburg Missouri. I got pulled over by a police officer to let me know that my tail light on the trailer were not working. The police officer let me go and told me since I only had 25 minutes to get to my destination to just put my hazards on and call Uhaul roadside assistance once I get there. once I had my trailer packed and ready to go I called Uhaul roadside assistance not one person responded to me or gave me a call back. I did not know what to do since U-Haul locations wherever I was at at the time we're closed until that following Monday and I was heading out to leave back towards Iowa Saturday morning therefore I end up driving from Warrensburg Missouri all throughout Iowa until I got to Centerville Iowa and had to pull over on the side of some country Road where I knew nothing and nobody due to the weather becoming extremely dangerous due to the fact that there were over two dozen tornadoes that had touchdown Saturday afternoon all throughout Saturday evening in many different locations throughout Iowa. I finally found a gas station and a man that worked there had let me know that he noticed my tail lights were not working he tried to help me with the connection and the wires and told me that it was from my wiring connection which is what I had asked the man before I took off where I rented the U-Haul at! The man at the gas station told me unfortunately there was nothing they were gonna be able to do to fix it until I go to a U-Haul place themselves to fix it or a autobody shop I did not have time for that seeing how I was stuck in a situation where I was by myself alone in the middle of a town I did not know where anything was and tornadoes were all around us. It was still daylight out so I kept driving thinking that I could get ahead of the storm and I would be fine with my hazards on during the day knowing that the tail lights were not working, shortly after I continue traveling towards my home in Iowa I was still about 5 1/2 hours away from my house I was somewhere in centerville Iowa On a back Road, and my visual impairment became detrimental and my car was swerving off the road from the tornado storm all of my belongings in The trailer got ruined, anywhere from pictures memories… Collectibles… Paintings, my children's baby stuff etc. all of it got ruined. I ended up pulling into a stranger‘s home down a country Road in Centerville Iowa pulled into their driveway as fast as I could put the car in park and took shelter underneath their barn. once the storm had passed I kept traveling for 20 minutes which still let me in the city of Centerville Iowa to where I had gotten pulled over once again at this point the cop suggested I not leave until I get the tail lights fixed so I ended up having to pay for a hotel room and called roadside assistance once again and still I could not get a response until an hour and a half after I called which at that morning I called A police officer who followed me to a Walmart and bought me battery powered temporary tail lights. I drove the whole way home to Estherville Iowa with temporary tail lights and all of my belongings ruined and a near death experience from a tornado storm I'll because of the inconvenience from the Uhaul Rental man who didn't make sure that my safety was a priority

The owner runs a tire business and from my perspective has too much going on to make Uhaul a priority. The trailer smelled like gas when I opened the back door and had not been cleaned out from previous use. The wiring harness had a broken wire which had been twisted together. I used some of the black tape that was on the wire to resecure it to hopefully make the trip without a short in the lights. I was grateful that he had a trailer available as my initial pick-up did not have my trailer available, when I was supposed to pick it up, so I had to drive two hours round trip out of my destination to pick-up a trailer at this alternate site. I was driving in from CO and offered to pick-up a trailer in route prior to arriving if he could have one available as he said he didn't have a trailer when I called to confirm the reservation when I made the arrangements earlier in the week. I was also disappointed the extra travel expense and time was all on me, there was no adjustment to offset the inconvenience of fulfilling the order and going to get the Uhaul trailer.

Nothing comes to mind. It was very streamlined and simple. Having the ability to register and supply all pertinent information prior to actual pick up date/time is a tremendous time saver for both the renter and the facility. Job well done!

Unit was dirty and had not been swept out after being dropped off by previous customer. It also had a strong gasoline oder in unit which caused me to have to unload sooner than I wanted to due to concerns of furniture and other items absorbing it.

Personnel were rude and unprofessional at the Milan, Mo. location. We had to wait 2 hours in the hot parking lot for our rental, as the previous renters refused to return it, even though we were promised the rental at 11:00 a. m. which was then pushed back to 12:00 P.M.. We however did not received our rental until 2:00 p. m. A very frustrating situation, as we could not complete our moving during this time frame, and had to do the majority of our moving the next day, in the pouring down rain. Worst moving experience ever.

Do not reserve your equipment on line! No telling how far you will have to travel to pick up the equipment. Next time i will contact a customer service oriented company like North Missouri Tire directly to make my reservation.

First of all, the rental truck wasn't where it was supposed to be; we had to drive several blocks to another location to pick it up. Then, it wouldn't start because the battery was dead! So, we called the North Missouri Tire and they came out and got it running. We were supposed to pick up the rental truck at 10:30 and it was around 11:30 when we finally drove off with it. They were slow processing the paperwork at the store, also. Bad experience!

I ask for a small trailer, I had 3-boxes & a small bench. the total weight was 150 pounds. They gave me a 12' trailer for this. They never got back to me with a price tell the trailer was hook up to my car at 4:30 PM, I had no chose I had to leave the next day. The woman on the phone did not care at all. Also I found out that when I returned the trailer they had hooked it up wrong. The safety brakes would have never worked. Two lights on the right side did not work & the lady on the phone said that was not a problem, people all the time take them like that. Not sure I would rent again. A very costly, unsafe, & bad experience.

I made reservations but then the truck was not at the location I had selected..which was the ONLY reason I chose to try uhaul after a 15 year swear off.... It took almost 2 hours longer to get the truck at the next closest location. WHY EVEN MAKE A RESERVATION? Once again I will NOT BE recommending UHAUL to anyone...back to Penske!

Have the truck in the requested location. If not inform customer of this more then 1 day before rental. Also if customer has to drive 50 miles out of the way like i did. Reimburse for gas. It was not my fault you did not have a truck where I requested it. And because of that my move cost me additional gas expense.I made a reservation in advance to make sure a truck was available. If I would have known that I was going to drive that far to get a truck. I would have gotten a truck from one of the other companies. That was the only reason I was trying U Haul. again, was due to the convenience. I had such a bad experience with you before, I really did not want to use U Haul again.
