When I picked up U-Haul and drove home there was a loud banging noise I drove back to location and staff found unsecured dolly in back. Also when I returned with phone app I didn't see any confirmation that it went through but that might be my lack of tech skills Otherwise they were great and made renting easyDonna A.

I set the pickup time for 7:30am and the location didn't open until 9:00am. I called the day before to make sure my truck would be ready and was told it would be. When I arrived at around 7:00am, the truck was inaccessible as it had another vehicle parked in front of it. That took nearly an hour to work out how to get it out. It would have been longer if I haven't been able to maneuver it between the car, a light post, two trees and across a grassy area next to the parking lot. That cost me an additional $50 in pay to the help I had secured to assist me with moving lots of furniture. I had a 20' truck that we filled with furniture. I ordered two furniture dollys and a dozen blankets. None were in the truck. That cost me at least another 1.5-2 hours in additional time ($75-100) it took to move an entire truck load of furniture the length of a city block and up to the 3rd floor because we didn't have those dollys. I had anticipated the effort needed to do this move and it was significantly delayed due to the location not providing me with the items I ordered. Not to mention the damage my furniture sustained due to not having the blankets I ordered. The truck was dirty, it had garbage in the blanket bag (instead of blankets). It was not a great experience and wound up costing me an additional $150 in pay to my helpers who spent extra time doing the move. I would appreciate someone calling me to discuss this further.mark G.

Was very rude I've never in my life experienced anything like this I got my truck I called customer service as it was a state emergency with fog I couldn't see rental got extended through customer service then the actual dealer called me yelling and speaking to me as I was a child threatened me with police regional manager and stated you where supposed to bring back next day if you don't come right now I calling police and state to them it's stolen I then called police they stated the establishment did not report anything my helpers immediately unloaded everything on my lawn because I didn't want any trouble as I was taking truck back my belongings began to get wet as it started to rain some of my furniture and things got ruined as the guys where trying to hurry and put things in house I would never ever recommend this place nor ever rent from there again when I got to establishment they where closed I left truck n keys there I didn't see lock box and honestly I just wanted to go as one employee was closing and I was very upset as I had called customer service and reported the situation immediately and the guy lied and said I went there saying and doing things how when I extended over phone and in middle of a move it was not a smooth transition at all it was honestly a nightmare. Also customer service did say they don't understand the problem when no one was scheduled for reservations for that particular truck at all I thought this was a business and you would want to make revenue not miss out on money then had the nerve to over charge me out of spite. We had rented a u hall from Brooklyn for our move it was a night mare took to long tuck was a mess. We needed to rent a u hall one more time to finish and this place was just the best was in and out in under 20 minutes. Passenger side strap I couldn't get undone. Called my neighbor over and not even he could undo it. So I used my own straps. Equipment ratchet straps should be undone with every use, and ready for the next clients arrival.Michael D.
Person who assisted me with rental at this location was very efficient and friendly. I've had good experiences with this location and will continue to rent from them. The U-Haul app remains buggy, though! Once again the app completely hung when I tried to return my van after-hours. Fortunately, I was able to log in via the website and return it that way.Andrew W.

The location and the people were terrific. I've used this company many time and always happy... HOWEVER, this time My experience with the vehicle was terrible. My first U-Jaul experience was not a happy one. It was clean enough, seat was comfortable enough, moved what I needed to move and all was safe in the end.... that's the good part. With nearly 150K miles the crazy loud truck, with shifting side mirrors, misaligned tires, a seat that does not move (I was forced to scrunch), a vibration that literally numbed my hands, a sun visor that was ripped from it's attachment (unable to protect from glare). It didn't seem so bad in the beginning on local roads at slow speed... otherwise, I would have turned around and refused the truck. In my opinion, this truck should either be retired or come with a disclaimer/recommendation that it be used for short distance low speed driving.... not the NJ Turnpike! I deserved a warning, It is unlikely that I would ever rent another U-Haul at this location again, unless I was assured a better/younger truck. That's not to say that I wouldn't go back for other services, as this is my first unsatisfactory experience.Karen K.
I would like to start by saying that we did accomplish the goal of moving materials from one location to another in the allotted time given to me. But, from the start of this experience to the end, we had a very rollercoaster day with this transaction. I got to the facility early, located the truck and retrieved the key. The key in the lock box was for a completely different van (...not truck). After a 20 minute phone call with customer service, we discovered that the location put the key in the incorrect lock box. The person in this phone call was FANTASTIC, patient and kind. She even extended my use of the truck to the following day to make up for lost time. Then, half way through the day, the truck battery died and we needed to jump start the truck. I was very fortunate to have accessible jumper cables to complete my project. This coupled with the rain all day, it was a bit of a frustrating experience.JASON D.

I arrived at 4:25 pm and the location was closed. It was near impossible to take the necessary photos of my license. An NJ license has a shiny surface and I had to take over a dozen shots; on my first attempt to check out the truck, it timed out because I was taking too long. I had a friend meeting me at my house to help me pack. I was late because of the location being closed, having to use the app, and the pics not being readable by your inept software. I was finally able to check out the van, but there were other issues. There were no moving pads in the truck as contracted. Therefore, I had to make a second trip with the truck in order to move my furniture AND was charged for additional mileage. Inside the truck, the floor was dusty and dirty. This would not have been an issue IF the moving pads had been in the truck. Opening the side door there was white powder on the step. To make my moving experinece even more pleasurable, THE AC DID NOT WORK!. We are moving in 85+ degree temperatures and had to do so with the car windows down. At night, when I was returning the truck, it was sweltering inside the truck because I could not drive with the windows up UNLESS I was willing to be bitten my various bugs that are attracted to lights at night. Lastly, returning the truck, I THOUGHT would have been easier. Nope. In the app I was honest about the truck not being suitable for the "next family to rent" because of the dirt mentioned above. The app stated it was going to charge me $25 cleaning charge. Earlier in the day, I had my son, who was with me, call the U-Haul customer support line (took well over the 30 minutes hold time stated) and explained some of the above to the CS rep. Then we find out this line is for equipment breakdown only. The rep suggested I take pics and upload them. She would also make comments in my service contract. After this horrid experience, I would like to know what U-Haul intends to do. I will keep these notes to post on social media and to advise my friends, family, etc. if I do not hear back from U-Haul in a timely fashion. Service provider did not ask if I had any experience connecting a trailer to my vehicle so if I did not ask certain questions while he was making the connections, I would not have known. An explaination of what he was doing and why would have been useful as he was making the connections. For example, connecting the trailer to my htich was done with just a lever instead of a tightening knob. I had never seen this type of connection and none of the U-Haul videos showed this. As a result, I was not aware how it worked. I likely would have figured it out but a short explaination would have been appreciated. He did explain when I asked. On return of the trailer, the provider asked be to back the trailer into a slot at the back of their lot. I had bad experiences trying to back up with the trailer connected and told this to the provider. He offered to have a mechanic do it for me but I decided to try again for my self. Relying on an instructional video I had seen on YouTube, I was able to back the trailer into the designated slot, a distance of about 300' away. The provider gave me a thumbs up for being able to accomplish that over such a long distance on the first try. It helped me to realize it wasn't so difficult and gave me confidence to do it again in the future without fear. That;s a big plus and a thank you to the provider!Brian W.
