I arrived at 4:25 pm and the location was closed. It was near impossible to take the necessary photos of my license. An NJ license has a shiny surface and I had to take over a dozen shots; on my first attempt to check out the truck, it timed out because I was taking too long. I had a friend meeting me at my house to help me pack. I was late because of the location being closed, having to use the app, and the pics not being readable by your inept software. I was finally able to check out the van, but there were other issues. There were no moving pads in the truck as contracted. Therefore, I had to make a second trip with the truck in order to move my furniture AND was charged for additional mileage. Inside the truck, the floor was dusty and dirty. This would not have been an issue IF the moving pads had been in the truck. Opening the side door there was white powder on the step. To make my moving experinece even more pleasurable, THE AC DID NOT WORK!. We are moving in 85+ degree temperatures and had to do so with the car windows down. At night, when I was returning the truck, it was sweltering inside the truck because I could not drive with the windows up UNLESS I was willing to be bitten my various bugs that are attracted to lights at night. Lastly, returning the truck, I THOUGHT would have been easier. Nope. In the app I was honest about the truck not being suitable for the "next family to rent" because of the dirt mentioned above. The app stated it was going to charge me $25 cleaning charge. Earlier in the day, I had my son, who was with me, call the U-Haul customer support line (took well over the 30 minutes hold time stated) and explained some of the above to the CS rep. Then we find out this line is for equipment breakdown only. The rep suggested I take pics and upload them. She would also make comments in my service contract. After this horrid experience, I would like to know what U-Haul intends to do. I will keep these notes to post on social media and to advise my friends, family, etc. if I do not hear back from U-Haul in a timely fashion. The staff are very nice! I had hard time to find out the emergency button in the Van. Note to Staff, please explain those critical issues ( fuel tank side and location, emergency light location, etc;..) to the customers while handing over the key.Morshed A.

It is a little difficult to know where to go in. Customers are use to going to a traditional Uhaul pick up location, not a used car lot. It would be helpful to have signage outside saying where to come in and get assistance with getting the Uhaul.ELLIE C.

The inside of the truck was filthy. The back of the truck was not swept out. There was garbage all over the truck. The front had muddy footprints on Both sides and a pair of gloves and spray bottle was left on passenger side. Normally the trucks I pick up there are clean.MICHAEL B.

Service provider did not ask if I had any experience connecting a trailer to my vehicle so if I did not ask certain questions while he was making the connections, I would not have known. An explaination of what he was doing and why would have been useful as he was making the connections. For example, connecting the trailer to my htich was done with just a lever instead of a tightening knob. I had never seen this type of connection and none of the U-Haul videos showed this. As a result, I was not aware how it worked. I likely would have figured it out but a short explaination would have been appreciated. He did explain when I asked. On return of the trailer, the provider asked be to back the trailer into a slot at the back of their lot. I had bad experiences trying to back up with the trailer connected and told this to the provider. He offered to have a mechanic do it for me but I decided to try again for my self. Relying on an instructional video I had seen on YouTube, I was able to back the trailer into the designated slot, a distance of about 300' away. The provider gave me a thumbs up for being able to accomplish that over such a long distance on the first try. It helped me to realize it wasn't so difficult and gave me confidence to do it again in the future without fear. That;s a big plus and a thank you to the provider!Brian W.

Woman at the facility just took the keys from me. An inspection of the vehicle was not performed while I was present. Luckily I was not erroneously charged for anything. A sign inside the truck states, â€œdo you want to save $25? Sweep the truck and fold the padsâ€. When it should read, â€œdo you not want to get charged $25?â€ Very misleading.Stuart C.

I ordered six moving pads, and because I was unsure how to collect them, since I was picking up the vehicle when the location was closed on a Sunday, I called U-Haul. They said that the pads would be inside the van. There were none, but having to proceed to move the furniture while I had the rental, I had no choice. The furniture was badly scratched in the move, and this was because I did not have the pads that were in my order.Paul B.

My paperwork indicated that the trucks out mileage was 11 miles UNDER that which was listed as it's In mileage from the previous rental. Result- I was charged for double the mileage I actually used, and was questioned in an accusatory manner until the issue was worked out Over almost an hour later...it took the owner that long to resolve the matter.
