The location was okay. The problem that we had was with getting the furniture pads and the dolly that we had reserved well in advance. We went to three different locations and nobody had these. Also, our trucks pick-up location changed twice. Moving is challenging enough without having to worry about where to pick our truck up the day before and then not having the equipment that we reserved. We will likely not be using U-Haul in the future.Eric K.

I got there and attempted mobile check in. While I was checking the truck that I was assigned to was already given to another customer. After going through a hassle to get another truck, the truck I was given had 0 gas and was already on empty. Never again.JOHN M.

This location is in one of the WORST parts of town. I specifically did NOT choose this location when booking online. When I recieved the call back that evening, "all locations except this one" were out of 20ft trucks. Go figure. Upon arrival to this sketch "UHaul" provider, there were several people in the middle of the street in front of the location soliciting folks to buy drugs and 2 other men approached my vehicle asking for money. I did the online check-in and tried to enter the truck using the app - apparently this location doesn't have this service. SO WHY GIVE THE OPTION FOR PHONE CHECK IN?! The UHaul vehicle was very badly dented on the exterior, the keys did not have a key for the Matlock on the truck door, the fuel tank was on E (dash showed 26 miles left to empty), the acceleration on the truck was extremely slow (RPM's exceedingly high with every acceleration to get going no matter how slow you pressed the pedal) and when I called UHaul customer service I waited over an HOUR on hold, called back to request a call-back to me, waited another 45 minutes before giving up. From beginning to end. I understand this UHAUL is based inside some sort of auto shop/car wash but the actual part servicing UHAUL customers looked as if I had walked into a bedroom. I felt completely uncomfortable and thought that was extremely unprofessional. Neither of the employees had proper uniform, just a sweater and jogging pants that were rather revealing. They had the show â€œCheatersâ€ on the screen and could barely process me without constantly watching the television. I was appalled at the unprofessionalism. Usually, when picking up a rental, I receive a paper copy of my receipt with the rental's information and an offer for a â€œwalk aroundâ€ so I, individually, or I and an employee could check for a discuss any damages to the vehicle. That did not happen. The employee, who never shared his name, left the keys in the ignition running while I was still inside the store even after having asked for the keys to simply be handed to me. I felt this was the most unprofessional and uncomfortable experience at a UHAUL rental site. I will never return, nor will I recommend anyone to this location. I would rate zero stars if possible.Analeza W.

I reserved a truck in a different location closer by my and it changed without notice like an email, text or call. When I opened the app to check the information to pick up the truck literally 15min before I found out it changed for another location that is in a part of the town that I'm not familiar with and it can be dangerous for someone that is not from Chicago, like me. It was a little frustrating because the app wasn't working well and I had to call costume service, but in the end I got the truck. Next time I'll double check the location and make sure it doesn't change the pick up and drop off.Patrick A.

Highly recommend this location I was very impressed with there customer service skills they did an excellent job. I needed a van asap & I was recommended this location and I wasn't disappointed they have a drop off box which was very convenient. I will definitely recommend to friend & family.Mary O.
No organization or communication at this location. I walked in & had to wait 15 min just to get my key while the guys there finished washing a car. (AFTER already checking in online) Also, truck was parked in a lot of snow & it was almost impossible to drive out of parking spot upon pickup.Tamara T.

Truck had no gas, old truck and it almost died on me multiple times, office was horrible. Also, you changed the location of the pickup. Nobody let me know. When I asked them where it was they sent me to 2 other locations and they told me they couldn't help. They refused to give me your customer service number even. How they don't have it is beyond me. Your company really sucks. If not for the South Loop location when I called them and she actually told me where it was at, I never would have found it. Thank god for one location out of 5.Daniel C.

No one was there at our appointment time. Finally after two calls to UHaul (UHaul dripped the first call), someone called us and we finally got the keys. The truck was dirty outside and inside the box. And the fuel was almost empty - 30 miles to empty.Joseph L.

The pick up was handled over the phone, with no one noting mileage or gas levels. I took pictures on my phone to make sure I had a reference. Upon return, the mileage and gas again was not notedâ€"which may explain the initial $200 overcharge. I emailed the location and was sent a new receipt, but the refund was noted as "cash refund", which I have yet to receive. My overcharge has not been refunded. I have been on the phone with UHAUL numerous times and they have emailed the franchisee and regional manager, but I still have yet to receive ANY COMMUNICATION FROM EITHER or the refund of the overcharge. I am still waiting to receive the refund.Lindsay W.
Although the owner of the business was great and his customer service was superb, my issue was not with him nor was it with the truck. My issue was with Uhaul. I scheduled the appointment at the time I needed the truck, but my truck wasn't ready and the location wasn't open. I scheduled the appointment for a mobile check in, because it showed that the location wasn't open until 9, however the location wasn't set up with a lockbox for a mobile check in. When I called, I was transferred from person to person and that wasn't explained to me until I had been waiting almost an hour. On the website it said that there was a $50 guarantee for this location that my truck would be ready for my scheduled time, however, nothing was taken off my bill. I had never been disappointed with Uhaul like this before.Octavia B.

Upon my return I was shown where to park in a vacant lot that I could only enter by driving over the sidewalk. I turned in the keys around 4:00 Monday and was told I would receive a receipt in my email. After I didn't get a receipt I called this evening to find that the return was not processed until 7pm today. I should've did the online return but was in a hurry to drive back to St. Louis. Overall there seems to be a lack of standards at some of these franchises and it's frustrating. Never again. I expect a refund for the overcharge.KRISTAN J.
My rental was broken drown while I was moving and I was stranded for over 4 hours in an alley until a tow truck took me to my moving location. Now I'm being charged for a broken down truck and hours in a alley where my life was in danger. I think that I should receive a full refund.curtis S.

first of all i had an 11am scheduled pickup. i arrived the the uhual representative was not there. i had to do the pick up over the phone. then i had to send pictures of mileage. truck had half a quart of gas. I did not drive out of there until 11:30am and they wanted the truck by 3pm charged me 4 hours when i only used it for 3 1/2 hours. i put gas in. truck was at two quarts. there was no reimbursement for extra gas i put. i showed him the receipt. he did not care to look at it. third i was over charged truck was 20 + insurance 14 + about 75 that is 109 and with taxes about 119 i was dcharged 146PEDRO M.
App/mobile pick up makes no sense. Why would I upload the information the night before, then have to do the same thing right before the reservation? Why does my profile need to be verified every time I reserve, and why is it done AFTER the reservation begins? Why aren't the U-hauls cleaned before and after each use, especially in COVID times? Couldn't be more disappointed. The application is also broken - when trying to submit photos, the app doesn't allow you to attach the evidence to prove the rental is not in good condition. I had to record everything on my phone in case something gets brought up later(Odometer, gas, etc). Really need a complete overhaul of your app, as well as the compliance.Tatsuya T.
