Have the equipment as needed and as requested actually in the truck.

The online check in app did not work (not the location's fault) - customer service was very helpful but it took awhile to complete the check in. Very uncomfortable in 20 degree weather as there was nowhere inside to take care of it. When the check in was completed, the lock on the truck would not open. Customer service called the franchise owner who came from another location. He could not open the lock so he gave me the only other truck at the location - a 20' foot truck (I reserved a small 10' truck). Although Uhaul only charged me for the 10' truck, the gas mileage was lower and cost me more for the move. There was no walk around or inspection of the truck I was given - the owner just handed me the key. I asked about the paperwork for the larger truck - he told me that everything was online and he left the location. I did receive a transaction receipt but no initial agreement or statement about the condition of the truck. The cab had not been cleaned -the previous owner's food scraps were still in the cup holder (I did not touch it...left it the way I received it) - and as soon as I started driving the truck it was clear that it was out of alignment. I completed the move, but this was not a good experience and I did follow up with customer service to let them know all that had happened.

Could hardly find it. Also got charged for leaving as much fuel in it as we were given. Using Penske next time.

The dropoff location is behind a home located on a highway. There is NO signage out front indicating it is a U-Haul location. I had to park the vehicle a block away and walk along the highway to find the location at the end of a long driveway. Then had to pull onto the busy highway with a 20' U-Haul truck to make a narrow entrance to the driveway. There was nobody there to help with the check-in. That's not a big deal - perhaps would rather just drop it off. But it was weird to leave it in what appeared to be a deserted parking lot. But there was a key dropoff so we were pretty sure we had the right place.

The location was not scary or filthy. That wasn’t a problem. It was inviting, safe, and cozy. The problem was that it was muddy. The location needs more gravel. If it wasn’t a wet and muddy day then it still would have been too dusty. The location doesn’t need to be paved. In fact, I think it’s more inviting if it’s not paved. But, instead, the location does need to keep a sufficient layer of clean gravel. As of spring 2022 it needs more gravel. It also needs better markings of its location from the road. I went around the block twice looking for it. The actual building is set half a block away from the entrance from the road. The entrance also seems to be shared with a personal driveway to a home. That’s fine, but there needs to be some sort of sign or demarcation that makes it clear that the entrance is also a path that leads to a business. Since the sign’s location will be in the middle of a residential area it will need to be creative and aesthetically pleasing. Sorry U-Haul, that means the sign needs to not use U-Haul’s business colors. So good luck to the owner. I think that with some creativity a beautiful, interesting, and informationally useful sign will be a great fit for the location and then this U-Haul location will be a very cozy and convenient location.

The location was difficult to find with a tiny tiny sign. I cleaned out the vehicle perfectly clean and was still charged a cleaning fee. I was barely barely barely under half and they charged me for 2 gallons of gas. Overall probably my worst experience with U-Haul.
