I reserved a uhaul from HomeTown Service in Wolcott,NY. But arrived and there were none in their inventory. They were fantastic and offered one at the Cato branch. One our way to Cato, I received a text message that a truck was reserved at a completed different business and Town waaaaaay out of our way. The uhaul online reservation system is NOT very effective, efficient or beneficial to customers. 0 stars for U Haul! 10 for the small businesses actually dealing with the customers!

Use a little rope to tie down equipment like hand trucks and utility/appliance dollies so they aren't sliding around the box after pickup

This particular trailer does not have a jack lift/stand to get the trailer off the hitch. If I didn't have my own floor jack, there is no way I'm getting it off my truck. Other than that, it was great! Thanks

The drop off location was fine. However I do have an issue with the experience as a whole. First of all, someone that I spoke with over the week ended up getting the date mixed up and had us picking up this coming Saturday. After I was told I couldn't have the uhaul for two days like I had reserved online, and that I wouldn't be able to pick it up and drop it off in Cato which the location was 5 miles from my house instead I would have to drive to Auburn NY to pick it up and then drive it back to Auburn NY to drop it off. This is about 25-30 minutes from my house. But when I got to the uhaul location in Auburn I was told that because our truck reservation was so large and the date was messed up that I wouldn't be able to get that size truck from anywhere in the local area. But that i could get a 15 foot truck and trailer that would equal the same size of the 26 foot truck we had originally requested. I had to then drive to Seneca Falls NY to pick them up which is even further from my house. They sceduled it as a one way so that I could return to Hometown Auto in Cato NY. We went to Seneca falls and picked up the Uhaul(by this time we were already about an hour and a half behind schedule to start moving. We got moved and I went to return the truck to hometown Auto and when I went to do the after hours check in on my phone because they aren't open on Sunday's I was told that I had to return to Weedsport NY. I specifically told the uhaul rep at the Auburn location and the Seneca Falls locations that I needed to return to Hometown Auto in Cato and they both said this wouldn't be a problem. If there is a charge incurred for this I feel like I shouldn't have to pay it after all of these issues. Also I was told by the rep at the Auburn location that the cost would be $120.00 but when I went to pay at the Seneca Falls it was over $160.00. I am assuming this is because of taxes and fees but I didn't realize it would be over $40 from what I was quoted. I was extremely unhappy with every aspect of this transaction and then to boot I got a email from uhaul saying I had to pay another $25.00 for an extra day even though I returned on Sunday like I was supposed to and then this morning I got another email stating I had to pay .30 for an additional mile. This is unreal!!! I will be using a moving company or Penske next time I move to avoid these types of issues!!!! I work in customer service and sales and I would NEVER allow a customer to go through everything I have.

Hometown Service Center was outstanding, especially Rebecca and Paul. I cannot say the same thing for U-Haul Corporate. I made a reservation for a 26 foot truck. When that size was not available, I received a call from U-Haul, not Hometown, telling me that I could pick up a different size at another U-Haul location that was very inconvenient and a one way that would have been more expensive. When I asked if we could just drop it off at Hometown, she said no, but would give us a lower per mileage charge. It would have been more expensive for us to do that way, so I told her I would have to talk to my husband. On Friday, I received a call that went to voicemail. When I listened to the voicemail, it was hold music, no talking. Glad that I had Rebecca to help us, it was critically important.

There were 6 miles more on the receipt than there was on the odometer. So, I paid for 6 miles I didn't use. That was the only thing I didn't notice before leaving Hometown Auto in Cato, NY.

The after-hours drop off location was convenient and Becky at Hometown was helpful and friendly when she called the day after we dropped it off.

They were great, however I will never use Uhaul again. The day before I am to move and Inwas at the airport to fly to NY to move our stuff south Ingetba call from Uhaul telling me that they will not be able to honor my reservation because they had no trucks. I asked what can they do for me and she said nothing I'm sorry. I asked to speak to a manager and she was no help either. I was to pick the truck up in Webster NY but I was flying into Syracuse so I called the Manager back and told her to search the closest truck available between Webster and Syracuse. One was located in Cato that was about 40 miles from Ontario where I would be loading. I had some one drive me the next morning to the Cato location and pickup the truck. A total inconvenience. I spoke to 3 different Uhaul stores and all said Uhaul does this all the time to customers with one ways on the weekends. How can you take a reservation and then cancel it the day before and think that's ok. Customer service is key these days to a successful business and Uhaul really lack there. I will go to the competitor next time and I will also be sharing my expierence on Facebook, Twitter, Yelp and Travelocity. If I can save One person the frustration that you caused my family I will be happy.

We were closing on our house and had to move. We arranged for a pickup onThur ( Thanksgiving) and confirmed that the store would be open. Late Wed afternoon we were advised that they did not have a truck in Auburn and that we would have to pick up a truck on Fri in Cato. This would be too late to move. We called Cato and they agreed to let us pick up the truck on Wed. I can't say enough about the Cato store, they were great,

This is my first time renting a UHaul truck and the Cato location is new to renting them. Even so, the Cato location was fabulous: clean, professional and very helpful. I will return to them.
