TL;DR: This was an uncharacteristically poor experience with U-Haul, and is still unresolved at time of writing. I've never had any problems at all renting from dedicated U-Haul facilities such as the one on Water St Peterborough Ontario, but this convenience-store location experience was anything but convenient (except for the location, which was the main reason for going there). From my first inquiries with the owner, I understood that the U-Haul business is far from being his primary concern. He continually redirected any and all questions I had back to the U-Haul website. When I picked up the truck our transaction was interrupted multiple times by customers who had arrived after me with gasoline and lottery ticket business. I had to facilitate the return process myself, and the app was unintuitive and lacked features such as picking and photos from my phone library instead of using the app's camera. The app also failed to upload pics of my DL, which meant the store owner had to take pics in between lottery and gas customers. At the conclusion of a long frustrating process, no receipt was generated or sent to me, and had to be completed by someone in the chat support centre. To add insult to injury I was overcharged and am still waiting for a resolution- last I checked my support chat thread was almost an hour and half since the last promise to 'check into this'. Again, uncharacteristically bad experience. Cannot recommend this location and will seek other options including non- U-Haul next time I need equipment in this area.

Truck was dirty when we picked it up, brakes were very worn. I mentioned I will not be returning the U-Haul back to the same location and I did not know the exact location or time of drop off yet. Non of that was noted and we were forced to return the truck to the same location and was charged for more km and another 100 for gas!
Krista VAlthough no one came to assist there was a gas station on sight to fill up the uhaul which was convenient as we initially didn't plan the gas stop in the middle of moving in chaos. There was a quiet spacious area to park and do the check in photos and the uhaul drop box was obvious and visible near the parking spaces. Small town community area.
JEREMY KI have returned a truck here on a one way rental previously and today rented a smaller truck for a local move. The day I returned the one way rental, we arrived just before closing, and were completing the required online return process, and all the staff (Wayne) could do was try to hurry us up as he wanted to leave. Today, I arrived just ahead of my GUARANTEED booking and was met with blank stares by Lina who was the only employee there. She said she didn't know anything about how to rent trucks. I spent the next 30 minutes on two calls with your central office, had an additional call on the go at the same time with "Wayne" who was out "shopping " (per his text to me) instead of being onsite to manage my rental as the only staff member with knowledge of the process. You should REVOKE their U-Haul license/ franchise immediately… I expect a full refund of all rental fees for the issues I faced.

Amanda EIt's a gas station/convenience store/donut shop. I waited for my turn in line to pick up my Uhaul 26 ft, I said my name and what I was there for, I grabbed my phone and showed him. Then he said he needed to just take care of customers. I'm a customer too. He served about 8 customers or more. He starts working with me again, the serves more customers. After 10 minutes I said after the last guy who walked in the door, you will be serving me until we are done. He did!! We go aside I fill out more info, now it's ready. He says he will go out and check the truck, I follow behind. He says it's ready to go and hands me the keys. I walk around the truck to inspect it. I try the key in the unlock passenger door, the door is unlocked, but key doesn't work . I go inside and say I think you gave me the wrong, he says no, grabs another he. He tries then, realizes he gave me the wrong key and hands me the right one He sends me on my way. He never handed me my contract. I thought maybe an email…nope!! I took pictures of a huge scratch down the drivers side, not having 'X saying they have been documented . Hastings is the worst!! Peterborough Water St was great with the original booking. St Martin,QC. Was amazing too, I was a tiny but under the level I took it at, he said I should just go 30 seconds up the street, or I would likely be charged at least I did so and my rental was cheaper than I expected. Uhaul booking agents, not in the stores, changed my pick up location from Peterborough to Hastings and they has a 26', and we're going to notify me about the change 3 days after I would be picking it up. Glad I stopped by to pickup boxes in Peterborough the night before for the to let me know about all the confusion !!
Jason DThe staff seemed rushed as it was almost closing time. And was a bit impatient as I completed the online return process. BUT you can't have a more convenient location at a gas station just a short drive from the center of town.

Alex BApparently this a new location that is unlabelled, unrecognizable ant not registered on maps. Upon entry to the other existing businesses the staff were unable to communicate clearly if this is a U-Haul drop off. I was told to call U-Haul to sort it out…? The U-Haul phone staff had to call this location on my behalf to instruct them to accept the keys to the vehicle. They should not be registered as a U-Haul location until they are properly prepared for customer traffic or business.
