The woman at the front desk was very slow and charged us for three days instead of one day.

The location was hard to find and instructions were not clear for picking up and dropping off the truck. We had to search around for the key box to open that up and it was small and very hard to find. After that the experience was fine except for the fact that the truck had no gas in it. Upon return we had even more difficulty trying to return the truck as the instructions on the app were not clear and made it seem like we just had to drop off the keys without filling out anything. As well we had no ability to find the key box as that was very hard to look for and even the location but the app gave us made it very unclear. We ended up having to put the keys back in the box where you retrieve them from only to be called later on and asked where the keys are even though we did the best we could with the circumstances to return them.

Picked up the truck at 5:44 PM ET and returned the truck the following day at 5:48 PM ET. I was charged for two days. Upon picking up the truck there was no discussion about additional charges but was charged a $28 Safe Travel Coverage that I would have declined had I been offered the coverage.

1) The front of the building did not have directions indicating where the parking lot was. Alternatively those directions could be in the app but I think it would be much better if they were also on the building. 2) The app sent me to their old address for the keys. That needs to be updated. 3) When checking the truck back in it was not clear whether the keys should be placed back in the lock box or in the drop box. Perhaps it doesn't matter but I couldn't retrieve the directions from the app to confirm that. 4) It took an incredibly long time to get anyone from customer service to respond on the phone. 5) The app would be better if it let you enter your location if you are having problems with location services. My location services were on. The problem is that they were disabled for the Safari web browser. It took me time to figure this out. 6) It was very hard to find the entrance to the parking lot where the truck was located. 7) It was difficult to figure out where I was supposed to park the truck after.

The pick up location was dirty and there was no one working to help me pick up my rental when I first arrived. I had to wait 15 minutes for the person to arrive in order to check me in and give me the van. When I received the van, it was very dirty.

This branch of uHaul engages in deceptive practices. The standard Uhaul Truck rental contract provided to me by email on my cell phone is illegible. It stipulates that the gas tank is at least 3/4 full and the renter is charged for anything less than that upon return of the truck. I was never told anything about the gas gauge, as I have been at all other vehicle rental agencies. When I received the truck, the gauge was at 5/8. Let me repeat, the contract was illegible on my cell Phone. I did not have my laptop in the truck. Before returning the truck , I purchased enough fuel to bring the gauge well beyond 5/8. However, I was charged over $15 for the gas “shortage”. The truck was returned with more gas in the tank than at departure. This is a deceptive practice. I will never rent a uhaul again from this agency.

The guy was too busy running all his other side businesses at the uhaul location. He sent the receipt hours later via email. He basically said leave the truck there, I'll email you a receipt. He never documented the 2 Dolly's that were returned on the receipt. When I emailed him about it, he never responded. It's run like a mom and pop organization. I will never use this location again. I will elsewhere even if I have to travel further to return equipment

The service was just okay. Equipment that I ordered ahead of time (ten days) was not even available on the day of pickup, even though I had already paid. Location is difficult to find, and the "contactless" check-in did not work.

The parking lot isn't actually accessible from rental office. I attempted to do a contactless rental because of the COVID-19 pandemic but because the parking lot is so far away from the office site the GPS locator didn't pick up the correct address. I had to knock on the door of the office, which appears to be an apartment, not a commercial business location to find somebody to help me.

Nothing is easy during the health pandemic, so it's hard to provide a true rating (in comparison to typical services). I would note that it would appear better communication between customer rep (who took order on the phone) and office location is warrante, eg, rental of dolly, rental window.

The guy who operates this location is complete trash. Please re-evaluate this owner. He is grumpy, mean, nasty for no reason except that you are a customer. This is the type of person that is mad that you even came.

The man who helped us was beyond nice. However this was one of the worst experiences I've ever had with uhaul. Our truck was not available, only 10 foot trucks were. Luckily we had an in town move, but that meant we and our movers had to load the truck three times and drive it back and forth. None of the supplies we had requested were available, save for one dolly and some blankets. The manager at the location said some customer hadn't brought back the truck we had reserved and some other customers had just cleaned him out of supplies. I had also tried to reserve with expedited mobile pickup but the rep there LABORIOUSLY insisted checking us out by hand. When I said we had to go, we were late for our movers he just ignored us and continued clicking around on his computer. Why was someone else allowed to pick up supplies they hadn't reserved? Why didn't the location let us know our truck wasn't available or suggest another location we could pick up the right truck at? What if we had planned a move between cities or states? We would have been completely screwed. I know inventory can't be perfect, but it was glaringly obvious how NOT dynamic or real-time the system was. I felt completely let down. So if I can't afford a more costly moving service I just have to deal with what leftovers you MIGHT have?I've been using uhaul for over ten years, moving once every two-to-three years. This will be the last time. I'm so sad.

Vehicle was returned at 230p. Agent noted they would only be on premises until 3p. When returned again 230p, the store had closed and the agent had left early so not possible to verify vehicle return on-site. Receipt is correct but access to the building was locked as well and had to walk around entire block to discover agent has left early. Otherwise very polite staff and clean truck.

Close it. Awful location. I would never use them again. The hours on the website were wrong. They didn't give me the van I reserved. They were impossible to communicate with. The truck smelled of cigarettes and did not have a full tank of gas. Dreadful experience.

While it is my fault for not researching more carefully, the per mile cost of this location is nearly double that of similar facilities. Furthermore, while I was assured that I would be billed ONLY for rental (19.99), environmental fee (1.00), and mileage. Yet they snuck in a $14 "Safe Move" fee, despite my having personal automobile insurance. Additionally, due to poor phone quality and perhaps a slight language barrier, the customer service aspect of this interaction left something to be desired.

Even though I had a reservation, when I took to the pickup office, the truck I reserved had not been logged back into the system, therefore the agent was not able to sign-out the truck to me. I had to wait about 20 minutes, before the truck was available. If would have been nice if the windshield had been cleaned. Also, the agent should go over features of the truck with the customer when he/she walks you to the truck.

I tried to reserve a truck at 8am. I made the reservation and everything appeared to be in order until 7:07 am the day of my move. I was informed that my truck would not be available until 10am and that the location did not allow for 24/7 pickup. I was told that the location opened at 10am, so I arrived then, but the posted hours on the door said the place opened at 9am. I wasted a lot of time because of U-Haul.

Terrible experience. They changed my reservation to this location for 3:30pm when I booked it for 11am across town. The staff was rude and unprofessional and the Uhaul rental is sort of an afterthought since they do tax preparation, credit fixing, money wiring, calling cards, etc. The person at the counter was eating lunch the whole time they were handling my order and seemed to not have my reservation. They also told me the truck was available when I called but when I showed up it was not. In addition, another person came in to buy tape and they took a full five minutes to serve them, making me wait when I was there 20 minutes before then and they had already been processing my reservation. Overall they were unsympathetic and said that it was MY FAULT since Saturday's are busy. I had made my reservation one month in advance and confirmed it the day before. They also changed my drop off location in the system without telling me. Never book with this location unless you want your moving experience to be more stressful than it is already and to waste half your day.

The staff were horribly incompetent and unprepared to help me. For example, in picking a drop-off location, instead of finding one for me, the staff asked me to use my own phone to Google locations. They were rude and lazy, and the location was difficult to find and poorly maintained. The parking lot was disgusting, full of trash I won't describe (Nasty things I can't write here!), and it was hugely unprofessional. I don't understand why U-haul has a location here. It comes off as a front for some other illegal business. The staff were talking about some other business deals during work hours while they were supposed to be helping me. I would not recommend this location to anyone, and U-haul should seriously consider whether it's an appropriate location for pick-up. The location was NOT clean and inviting.

Even if this location is convenient for you, DO NOT pick up from here. I signed up for mobile pickup and I still had to come in. The man insisted that I was required to buy the additional insurance coverage through UHaul and refused to give me the keys until I agreed to pay extra. I had to call UHaul and have a representative explain to him that additional coverage was not mandatory before he eventually gave in. A real con-artist with no knowledge or professionalism. A bad look for UHaul, really.

What can I say, this was a nightmare. My reservation wasn't there, no one was in the office, the neighborhood is quite dangerous, and only by sheer luck did I manage to get another truck, because a nice couple returned theirs while I was waiting and gave their key to me. Meanwhile, Uhaul passed me from one ineffectual customer service person to another, none of whom were even slightly helpful until I reached one kind person who allowed me to use the couple's truck. Just a nightmare. Suffice to say, aside from the final customer service rep (who was wonderful), it was not an experience I'll look to repeat.

The experience at this location was horrible. We had a reservation, but the lady working at the location refused to give us a rental at first. Then when she agreed, we had to wait for 20 minutes. When we returned the vehicle, she never checked it back in so we were overcharged by $100. I then had to call Uhaul customer service to start a refund process. This location should be shut down.

The attendant was VERY rude and acted as if I were a bother to her. She continued to text message on her cell phone while half answering my questions about the pricing and availability. Her attitude was so unpleasant that I asked who was the owner of business. She responded, " Why?" I was shocked and appalled! I told her, as a consumer, I wanted to know. She then replied, "My Boss" My next question was, if she was related to the owner. If she had said yes, I would have left that establishment immediately! But , because I was in such a time crunch I proceeded with the rental. $38 to move one couch less than 3 miles away and to be treated so rudely, was NOT WORTH IT! I will NEVER recommend this location, nor will I EVER use it again. I now live less than a block from this establishment and will travel to the Uhual in N.E. where I received SUPERIOR customer service!

The staff did not know where the truck was parked and otherwise did not appear to know what they were doing. My phone conversations with staff were equally bizarre. I asked about the process for mobile check-in after hours vs. showing ID/ picking up the truck at the store, and the person on the phone had zero knowledge of what I was talking about. I chose to take off work for half the day so I could pick it up during business hours and increase my chances that I actually receive the truck I reserved. The problems are not just limited to this specific location, though. The person who was going to be the main driver has an international driver's license (which is valid for driving in the US), but I wanted to input his driver's license information ahead of time online so that it went as smoothly as possible (this was before I realized that the location itself was incompetent and I would need to pick up the truck in person anyway). The online form requires that you input a US state or Canadian province (neither of which applied to his driver's license). I called U-Haul's customer service center and was transferred to at least 4 different people, each of whom told me that they had no idea how to answer my question (i.e., whether he could use his international driver's license), and spent at least 40 minutes in pure hold time.

I didn't like the service of the person at this location. First se said over the phone the mini van was available. When i get there she says is being repaired, so I took the pick-up. Then I had a hard time finding the pick-up around the block. And finally when I left the pick up (around the block) she told me I had to park it in front of their office. .

The man there was very kind. Even though he didn't know about our arrival and didn't have room for the truck ( something fell through on the U Haul communication there) he saw how tired we were and took the truck anyway.

The customer service was poor. The employee who was there was not at all interested in helping customers. She seemed annoyed when I walked in, and was unwilling to review the truck with me prior to rental. Prior to my rental, she insisted that I sign the form confirming the condition of the truck, and confirming the fuel level in the truck, prior to allowing me to view the truck and to use the keys to start the engine to check the fuel level.

I had a terrible experience with the staff person who was either completely inept or deceitful or a combination of the two. I had ordered my U-Haul via the mobile app and marked that I would not take the damage protection for $11. When I arrived to pick up the vehicle, the staff member charged me for the damage protection and told me she didn't know how to remove it. I wasted half an hour in the office (which nearly caused me to miss my window for being able to move my items) trying to phone the U-Haul phone number on my receipt. After finally getting through, they told me the receipt would need to be fixed at the office where I was picking up the vehicle, and they transferred the call to the same staff person checking me in, who either didn't know how to make the change or was just refusing to help. The staff person was additionally deceitful in that during the check in process after I saw I was being charged the extra money, and she told me there was nothing she could do to help, I asked if I should just cancel my reservation because the mobile app had a link that would still allow me to cancel. She told me no it wasn't possible, and so I didn't click on the link immediately. A moment later when I decided I should try anyway, it would no longer allow me to do so because As soon as she knew I could cancel via the app, she officially checked me in. So she purposefully was trying to prevent me from getting being able to remove the damage protection that I never ordered in the first place. Now I will need to go call my credit card and dispute the charge and who knows how long this will take. I would never recommend this vendor to anyone. I reiterate this was a terrible experience and a true waste of time. Do not rent a vehicle from 930 Kennedy st NW Washington DC.
