Close it. Awful location. I would never use them again. The hours on the website were wrong. They didn’t give me the van I reserved. They were impossible to communicate with. The truck smelled of cigarettes and did not have a full tank of gas. Dreadful experience.

While it is my fault for not researching more carefully, the per mile cost of this location is nearly double that of similar facilities. Furthermore, while I was assured that I would be billed ONLY for rental (19.99), environmental fee (1.00), and mileage. Yet they snuck in a $14 "Safe Move" fee, despite my having personal automobile insurance. Additionally, due to poor phone quality and perhaps a slight language barrier, the customer service aspect of this interaction left something to be desired.

Even though I had a reservation, when I took to the pickup office, the truck I reserved had not been logged back into the system, therefore the agent was not able to sign-out the truck to me. I had to wait about 20 minutes, before the truck was available. If would have been nice if the windshield had been cleaned. Also, the agent should go over features of the truck with the customer when he/she walks you to the truck.

I tried to reserve a truck at 8am. I made the reservation and everything appeared to be in order until 7:07 am the day of my move. I was informed that my truck would not be available until 10am and that the location did not allow for 24/7 pickup. I was told that the location opened at 10am, so I arrived then, but the posted hours on the door said the place opened at 9am. I wasted a lot of time because of U-Haul.

Terrible experience. They changed my reservation to this location for 3:30pm when I booked it for 11am across town. The staff was rude and unprofessional and the Uhaul rental is sort of an afterthought since they do tax preparation, credit fixing, money wiring, calling cards, etc. The person at the counter was eating lunch the whole time they were handling my order and seemed to not have my reservation. They also told me the truck was available when I called but when I showed up it was not. In addition, another person came in to buy tape and they took a full five minutes to serve them, making me wait when I was there 20 minutes before then and they had already been processing my reservation. Overall they were unsympathetic and said that it was MY FAULT since Saturday’s are busy. I had made my reservation one month in advance and confirmed it the day before. They also changed my drop off location in the system without telling me. Never book with this location unless you want your moving experience to be more stressful than it is already and to waste half your day.

The staff were horribly incompetent and unprepared to help me. For example, in picking a drop-off location, instead of finding one for me, the staff asked me to use my own phone to Google locations. They were rude and lazy, and the location was difficult to find and poorly maintained. The parking lot was disgusting, full of trash I won't describe (Nasty things I can't write here!), and it was hugely unprofessional. I don't understand why U-haul has a location here. It comes off as a front for some other illegal business. The staff were talking about some other business deals during work hours while they were supposed to be helping me. I would not recommend this location to anyone, and U-haul should seriously consider whether it's an appropriate location for pick-up. The location was NOT clean and inviting.

Even if this location is convenient for you, DO NOT pick up from here. I signed up for mobile pickup and I still had to come in. The man insisted that I was required to buy the additional insurance coverage through UHaul and refused to give me the keys until I agreed to pay extra. I had to call UHaul and have a representative explain to him that additional coverage was not mandatory before he eventually gave in. A real con-artist with no knowledge or professionalism. A bad look for UHaul, really.

I waited an hour an 40minutes for the place to open and I had a reservation!!! Then they charged me for 2 gallons of gas 9$ and I had put gas in there already! They didn’t give me anything to say how much gas was in there so I had to judge on my know!!

What can I say, this was a nightmare. My reservation wasn't there, no one was in the office, the neighborhood is quite dangerous, and only by sheer luck did I manage to get another truck, because a nice couple returned theirs while I was waiting and gave their key to me. Meanwhile, Uhaul passed me from one ineffectual customer service person to another, none of whom were even slightly helpful until I reached one kind person who allowed me to use the couple's truck. Just a nightmare. Suffice to say, aside from the final customer service rep (who was wonderful), it was not an experience I'll look to repeat.

The experience at this location was horrible. We had a reservation, but the lady working at the location refused to give us a rental at first. Then when she agreed, we had to wait for 20 minutes. When we returned the vehicle, she never checked it back in so we were overcharged by $100. I then had to call Uhaul customer service to start a refund process. This location should be shut down.

The attendant was VERY rude and acted as if I were a bother to her. She continued to text message on her cell phone while half answering my questions about the pricing and availability. Her attitude was so unpleasant that I asked who was the owner of business. She responded, " Why?" I was shocked and appalled! I told her, as a consumer, I wanted to know. She then replied, "My Boss" My next question was, if she was related to the owner. If she had said yes, I would have left that establishment immediately! But , because I was in such a time crunch I proceeded with the rental. $38 to move one couch less than 3 miles away and to be treated so rudely, was NOT WORTH IT! I will NEVER recommend this location, nor will I EVER use it again. I now live less than a block from this establishment and will travel to the Uhual in N.E. where I received SUPERIOR customer service!

The staff did not know where the truck was parked and otherwise did not appear to know what they were doing. My phone conversations with staff were equally bizarre. I asked about the process for mobile check-in after hours vs. showing ID/ picking up the truck at the store, and the person on the phone had zero knowledge of what I was talking about. I chose to take off work for half the day so I could pick it up during business hours and increase my chances that I actually receive the truck I reserved. The problems are not just limited to this specific location, though. The person who was going to be the main driver has an international driver's license (which is valid for driving in the US), but I wanted to input his driver's license information ahead of time online so that it went as smoothly as possible (this was before I realized that the location itself was incompetent and I would need to pick up the truck in person anyway). The online form requires that you input a US state or Canadian province (neither of which applied to his driver's license). I called U-Haul's customer service center and was transferred to at least 4 different people, each of whom told me that they had no idea how to answer my question (i.e., whether he could use his international driver's license), and spent at least 40 minutes in pure hold time.

I didn't like the service of the person at this location. First se said over the phone the mini van was available. When i get there she says is being repaired, so I took the pick-up. Then I had a hard time finding the pick-up around the block. And finally when I left the pick up (around the block) she told me I had to park it in front of their office. .

The man there was very kind. Even though he didn't know about our arrival and didn't have room for the truck ( something fell through on the U Haul communication there) he saw how tired we were and took the truck anyway.

The customer service was poor. The employee who was there was not at all interested in helping customers. She seemed annoyed when I walked in, and was unwilling to review the truck with me prior to rental. Prior to my rental, she insisted that I sign the form confirming the condition of the truck, and confirming the fuel level in the truck, prior to allowing me to view the truck and to use the keys to start the engine to check the fuel level.

I had a terrible experience with the staff person who was either completely inept or deceitful or a combination of the two. I had ordered my U-Haul via the mobile app and marked that I would not take the damage protection for $11. When I arrived to pick up the vehicle, the staff member charged me for the damage protection and told me she didn’t know how to remove it. I wasted half an hour in the office (which nearly caused me to miss my window for being able to move my items) trying to phone the U-Haul phone number on my receipt. After finally getting through, they told me the receipt would need to be fixed at the office where I was picking up the vehicle, and they transferred the call to the same staff person checking me in, who either didn’t know how to make the change or was just refusing to help. The staff person was additionally deceitful in that during the check in process after I saw I was being charged the extra money, and she told me there was nothing she could do to help, I asked if I should just cancel my reservation because the mobile app had a link that would still allow me to cancel. She told me no it wasn’t possible, and so I didn’t click on the link immediately. A moment later when I decided I should try anyway, it would no longer allow me to do so because As soon as she knew I could cancel via the app, she officially checked me in. So she purposefully was trying to prevent me from getting being able to remove the damage protection that I never ordered in the first place. Now I will need to go call my credit card and dispute the charge and who knows how long this will take. I would never recommend this vendor to anyone. I reiterate this was a terrible experience and a true waste of time. Do not rent a vehicle from 930 Kennedy st NW Washington DC.

Location has you walk for blocks to pick up a U-haul and then you have to search for parking when you return it, which adds mileage. Also fuel amount on both check in and check out was incorrect and I had to note it and take a picture so that I wouldn't get charged.

This is an urban neighborhood with no parking lot. Trucks are on the street with limited parking. Attendant was rude. Very poor customer experience overall. I was never given a receipt, was told it would emailed.

This was a terrible experience, I was charged double what I should have. They charged a cleaning fee even though I returned it in better condition and refused to take off the optional insurance fee. The receptionist was rude and unhelpful throughout.

This location does not have a parking lot and is in a bit of a high crime area. I did not realize that I had to find street parking until I picked up the van, at which point I could not change my plans. You should let customers know ahead of time that a selected drop off location does not have its own lot or parking spaces.

Lady seemed surprised to see me when I walked in and was not helpful at all. The gas meter on the contract said the tank was 1/4 full but it was maybe 1/8 full. I somehow got signed up for CDW when I would have declined that if asked. Generally the customer service was nonexistent. It's close to my home so I may use it again, but next time I'll just do the mobile pickup if possible.

Requested a closed cab truck, got an open pickup instead as the only thing available. Damage report from the last customer reports damage to the "cap" which I interpret as the cap on the pickup's bed, but there was no cap. So I had to transport my stuff in an open pickup in the rain. The customer should get what was requested.

I would like to speak to a Uhaul representative regarding my billing and it's professionalism, and I have been calling customer service for 20 minutes and no one has answered the phone. If Uhaul does not contact me regarding this issue, I will be forced to report this to the Better Business Bureau.

I was charged $11 for “CDW.” I was never told about this fee when I made the reservation - even though I asked twice (two different phone calls) what the charges would be. I was not given the opportunity to opt out of this fee or an explanation of the fee.

Was not able to access the truck using the mobile which slowed down our entire moving process. The woman who worked at the place was very slow and even though our rental was for 10am we didn't get in the truck until closer to 11am, but we were given no extra time. We essentially wasted an hour just trying to check in.

Truck was clean and functioned well. But watch out for scams. In my case, Lisbeth, the service person, inspected the truck and claimed it needed to be swept clean. I had used it for 3 hours and loaded it only with furniture that was clean. She said the extra charge would be $25. I asked her if she would sweep it and she offered to sweep it for $10. We settled on a payment of $7, for what was likely to be 2 minutes of effort.

The location is absolutely confusing. It is located on a busy main street in D.C. There is one small sign that is easy to miss and the office itself is located in a basement. There is nowhere to park due to the busyness of the street so I had to circle twice trying to 1. find the place and 2. find a place to pull over. When I called the location to try to inquire where they were located since it was not obvious, the employee just kept telling me the address. I knew the address but clearly, that was not helpful. Then we finally park make it to the location and sit there for 30 minutes for them to park the truck and complete my contract. Again not an issue with the time but the whole time they were typing on the computer, I wondered if there was an issue with the truck or my contract etc. Why not just have some customer service and let me know that the systems are slow and it would just be a few moments. No communication at all. Additionally, I needed to fill the truck up with 3 gallons ( i was just shy of the 1/2 way mark) but we could not find a gas station anywhere near the drop off point. So I had to pay 4/gallon which I expected but instead of just the gallons I was missing, they charged me for the refill to the next level. Which I thought was absurd given how difficult it was to find a gas station near this location and I didn't need as much gas as they charged me for. Overall, my entire experience with Uhaul was terrible and I will not be using it again or recommend it to anyone. Both pick up and drop off locations were in very inconvenient locations with terrible customer service, and unwelcoming atmospheres. It doesn't really feel like uhaul cares about the customer experience at all and your systems are clearly outdated and terrible since this was an issue that caused a 30 min wait on pick up and drop off.

The Admin staff automatically added insurance coverage when I originally denied it. I have great insurance on my own. Never going back here again

Live with the reservation time quoted to the customer. Do not call the customer within 4 hours after the rental to ask them to return the vehicle because you made a mistake. That is not the customer"s fault!

Worst Uhaul experience I've ever had. Truck was given to me, dirty and without any gas. I returned the truck with more gas than was there when I picked it up. No compensation was offered. Horrible service. Never use the Kennedy Street, NW location.

The vehicle was given to me with under a quarter of a tank. I drove the vehicle only 8 miles, and put $10 worth of gas into it before getting hit with a $16 gas charge upon return. Nobody has addressed my concern after multiple complaints. Very unprofessional.

Where do I begin? Driving from New Orleans, I had a choice to drop off in Northern VA or D.C. and chose D.C. since it was a little bit closer to where I was staying (huge mistake). When I pulled into the Uhaul location on K Street near Union Station, I was told that I needed to call the 1-866# on my contract and that Uhaul would TELL ME (the customer) where I needed to drop off the truck. I was displeased to learn that I had to drive another 25 min north (further away) to 930 Kennedy St NW (with unleaded gas at $3.39/gallon). It was a very sketchy neighborhood with nowhere to park the truck (no vehicle yard). The Uhaul office was in the basement of a non-descript building and difficult to find - very small. Once inside, it took the 2 girls behind the bullet proof glass at least 20 min to process me out and I was the only customer in there. There were posters in the office about how to wire $ to Nigeria (among other places) and it made me wonder if I was about to get scammed since the girls kept asking me questions they should have known as part of my basic contract. Of course, I had to call a ride since I was so far out of the way and Metro didn't run that far north, which cost me even more money. The truck was clean, rode well, and fairly new but the drop off in D.C. was not a good look for Uhaul - turned would could have been good into a bad experience. ;-(

Absolutely horrible!!! I used the van for 2 hours and barely 10 miles. I returned it the same day 6/21 and months later my card is charged $75 for a ticket someone else got on 6/22 at 9:55am. I DIDN'T EVEN HAVE THE VAN AT THAT TIME! I'll be reporting you to my bank!

While the location is relatively new, there was a total lack of preparedness by the manager, and the assistant was inexplicably rude - in a telephone call before arriving, and when taking a message after there was a problem on the invoice, after which I never received a call back from the manager. Fortunately, Mr. Dominique Brown, the regional manager, promptly contacted me, and took care of the issue immediately.

I don't think I have ever received such poor, rude and incompetent service from any business I've dealt with. Other people in the office at the same time as me were equally angry and dissatisfied. I booked my rental vehicle - a 10 foot truck - for 2 days almost 2 weeks before the pick up date. When I arrived 5 minutes after my scheduled pickup time, I stood at the desk for around 7 minutes before my presence was even acknowledged. I was then told that my vehicle had been picked up by someone else earlier that day. I was then told my vehicle was not available and I could have a 9' van instead. This would not have satisfied my needs. As I was busy finishing up packing at home I left my husband to sort things out. He arrived home around 90 minutes later with a 9' truck with a broken window and no documentation at all because this entity does not print out documentation and will only "email it later". On checking the email I saw that the paperwork said the van was rented out to us for only 4 hours. I called head office to complain and insisted they call Value Financial Services. It turned out that a 15' truck had been parked outside Value Financial Services all day for us because a 10' truck was not available. We then returned the van to the office to switch vehicles. On arrival we discovered that the office was negotiating a rental of our truck with someone else because the 10' truck they had rented was "not available". We insisted on taking the truck. An hour later, after waiting for the paperwork to be redone, we left with out truck. At that point we were well over 5 hours behind our scheduled truck-packing-and-move time. Every interaction we had with this office was rude, dismissive, disdainful, painfully slow etc. I would NEVER do service with this office again and would certain highly recommend to others that they HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO CONTACT WITH THIS OFFICE.
