No one was at the service location to help us pick up the auto transport trailer we'd reserved. My husband called the owner who indicated he was not available onsite, but that we could load up the trailer by ourselves, and he would have his wife deliver paperwork for us to sign. We dug through the sandy lot infested with fire ants. The first two trailers had disabled trailer hitches. So while batting away fire ants, we loaded the third trailer which seemed to work. As we were departing, we stopped again to see if we could sign paperwork. A woman with four small children walked from one building to another where multiple tow trucks were parked. Again, no one came to provide assistance. We called the owner again, who said, I have your credit card on file from your reservation. Do the paperwork when you return the auto transport. We drove off, planning to do just that. The next morning, we received an email indicating our order had been cancelled, citing we hadn't picked up the auto-transport. (Kind of wrong, since we already had a disabled car loaded on top.) The owner called us to clarify, then set up another reservation without our signature, but tacked on an additional $25.00. The owner also set a return location that was 20 miles out of our way in a highly trafficked part of Charleston. We called U-Haul customer service, explained the situation and that we would return the transport to our original location. That's when we learned that customers are not allowed to pick up their own auto transports without a U-Haul representative onsite providing assistance. The rep indicated she would send a ticket to the regional manager for possible retraining and also issue a refund for the excessive $25.00. Five days later, we haven't heard a peep from the regional manager, nor have we received a refund. I strongly encourage anyone to stay far away from this very poorly managed location.Christopher H.

Our tow vehicle had a breakdown on a major highway. Jamie from Gideons Go and Tow came immediately and stored our U Haul trailer securely until we could retrieve it. Courteous, professional service in a crisis. Also noteworthy was Matthew of the U Haul Emergency Roadside Assistance. Our first drop off site was out of business but we called Uhaul and they were very helpful in finding an alternate drop off. Very nice guy who has just completed turning a lawn mower shed into his office. Cute little place and super nice guy.JENNIFER B.
