Again my mistake in paying for more gas than what was required but there should be a discount offered for that. $60 is a big mistake to overshoot the requirement by and it was done because there were no clear mileage calculations available.

Stephen JonesI followed the instruction for the self-service drop off, but the location was extremely dark. There was no obvious place (with signage) I was supposed to leave the trailer, so I picked a dirt lot that had u-haul trailers already parked there. Because it was so dark, we couldn't see that the ground had some slope and we lost control of the trailer. My husband ended up partially underneath the trailer while it dragged him down the hill. We spent the night in the ER so he could get leg and arm x-rays. It was a terrifying experience. I will probably never rent another u-haul, or at the least never, ever do self-service drop off.

Michael FleuryWhen customer service called me to change the pick location they sent a confirmation and explained that everything would be the same (Charges & pick up time) and including a 50$ discount because they did not have the vehicle size available and offered a 20 ft truck instead of a 15 ft. The issue with this location was that it only opened at 9AM instead of the 8AM as indicated on the confirmation and the basis for the initial selection of the site. So, our process of moving was starting late from the get GO.

Connie RobertsonEasy to get to. It was unclear how to pick up the truck using self check-out using the mobile app (this location was not showing up on the app). But a gentleman showed up and helped me pick up the truck with excellent customer service. Other than leaves in the truck, which cost me $25 at the drop off location, and some coffee spillage, the truck was reasonably clean. This is probably an okay location to pick up a truck during business hours. I cannot recommend outside of business hours.

Davieus GRAYI have rented from that location 3 times and I never knew that the place was manned. The building looks abandoned and has signage saying if you need help call a cellphone number. I have had people ask me for help when I was on the phone with u-haul for help for myself. This last time was no exception. I show up to pick up the van and I am told to pick up the key from the counter. Every other time I got the key from the lockbox I expected this time to be the same. As i mentioned earlier I thought this was an unmanned location due to all the signage about not to enquire within the building. I do as the signage says to call the cellphone listed and the phone goes to a voicemail loop. I call u-haul for help and I am on hold when a woman dressed in a non-descript winter jacket asks me if I am here for U-haul. I misunderstand her question and think she is asking if I work for U-haul. It has happened before on prior rentals as myself and other people tried to figure out how to get our trucks. So I thought she overheard me talking to the u-haul clerk on my cellphone when she asked me. I thought she was just another confused client picking up her rental vehicle so I told her that I am not. She then proceeds to say ok then I will move my car. That is a complete non sequitur from my point of view and think ok lady you do you. By this time a person in your call center answers my phone to help me with picking up key. She tells me that the location must be a manned location because the key is listed as a counter pickup. She said she will try to reach the owner of the location. So I head back to the building and try the door. As soon as I go through the door, the person who i thought was a client earlier come in behind me. The first words out of her mouth were about how mad she was that I made her rush back after she moved her car. I am still on the phone with the u-haul call center person and she could hear the whole exchange. The call center person kept on apologizing about what she was hearing. I told the woman in front of me to stop treating me like this. The only reason I was even there to rent the van was to clean out the room at a elderly care facility because our loved one passed away two days before. The woman took a pause at that revelation and told me she was sorry for my loss. While her demeanor was slightly better afterwards, she still kept on peppering me with questions about why I didn't do this thing or that thing when she first talked to me. I told her that she never identified herself and that I had no idea who she was.

David RonThe woman who was running the office was exceptional! She was nice, and very efficient in the face of a long line of customers waiting for their trucks. My issue is that I reserved a 10ft. truck over a month in advance and they gave them all away the night before so I had to accept a 15 ft truck. To make matters worse, the Advance Trac system (suspension?) failed at the very end of my trip - which created and inconvenient and dangerous situation trying to return the truck.

Venkata VadhirajanThe couple that run this location have never been anything but accommodating in my experience. I live a couple towns away and there are probably 4-8 uhaul establishments in-between or in the vicinity my location and theirs but the service i get at this location keeps me coming back. No matter if I setup a reservation online or just walk in unannounced they always make sure I'm taken care of. I rent from this location approximately 10 times a year.

GINOFRANCIS BIONDI200A MERRIMAC is a lot with trucks in it, but the building you need to go to in order to return said truck is actually across the street, 55 MERRIMAC. The employee was outside when she saw me walking up and asked if I was there for U-Haul, I said yes. Apparently this happens a lot.
Stephanie WilliamsI recommend that locations check return mileage more carefully. I was charged extra for miles that I did not use. However, I took a picture and the refund was handled in a timely manner.
Jeanette RushEZ rental lady in the office was very helpful as well as Fred showed me where my truck was. I was able to leave my car and Fred showed me where I should put it to make sure that it was out of the way of incoming trucks. Truck was clean, as well as the office. Definitely the best rental process of ever been through, I have been through a lot- as I rent U-Haul's on a regular basis.
dustin arnoldThe only real issue I have with this location is the parking lot where U-Haul equipment is parked, it is gravel and in terrible condition, with potholes, mud holes and very tight maneuverability.

Having the location closed on VA Tech move-in weekend was a baffling choice. Like a different company when compared with the pickup location.

I had a trailer tow dolly and I had pulled up on the lot the lady came out and helped me locate the trailer lot she showed me a spot where to drop it very nice very courteous and very helpful. I appreciate you all having a Blacksburg office at convenient for the Virginia Tech students and their families in dropping off equipment. Kudos to U-Haul on having a office personnel lady working that is so kind and so nice and so helpful. Easiest drop off I've ever made and I travel from the West Coast to the East Coast and I've had a lot of issues with U-Haul thank you for Help me to have Faith back and U-Haul and to use our U-Haul more often. Again thanks for the assistance the office lady was awesome and it's so simple it was so easy I've never had a drop off go as smoothly as possible. She told me I'd have an email and by the time I dropped off my trailer by email and Bill was finalized and sent to me by the time I un-hooked my trailer . Go Hokies!!!!!

The GPS address was not exactly to the drop off point. The worker was apparently closing up (before 5:00) and came out to inform us to park the truck elsewhere and drop the key, but she was unfriendly.

VICKINELSON BERNARDMake the voice message for open hours at that location match what's on Uhaul 's website and be there for what they are. Then their signs for where to drop off need to say more than across the street since their location is at a triangular intersection and there are Uhaul equipment at all of them.Then when I. finally got someone on the phone Monday morning she was impatient and wouldn't listen to the difficulties the signs have caused and tried to seem obvious where the trailer drop off was however I saw many confused clients all asking each other if this was the right place to put them. So I wanted to know if they found our Sat. return that was due Sunday by my instructions and she said there was no due in time on trailors. Other than this email I have yet to receive confirmation of our return. I hope I don't get charged extra since they closed a half hour earlier on Sunday....
genevieve siggiaWhen we returned the truck, two hours before it was due back, no one was there, so I followed the prompts on my app, submitted a photo of the dash and dropped the key in the box. Imagine my surprise when I got my receipt this morning and was charged the $20 after hours fee. I called the office to inquire. She simply told me to read the contract and then hung up the phone.
