LeAnn at Compass Self Storage is dishonest and not customer friendly. I rented a U-Haul truck for a total use of 16 miles (truck only ran while driving - no idling). The trucks fuel level at pick-up was recorded at 1/4 tank, which when I started the vehicle, was a generous misrepresentation to say the least. None-the-less, after I was finished, I refueled at Haggerty and Grand River. The fuel gauge when I parked the truck was between 1/4 & 3/8 (Carol had been kind enough to point out on the U-Haul rental agreement, how many gallons you should refill based on the total number of miles driven), dropped the keys through the door slot and went about my day. The next day I received an email copy of a final bill with a claim the truck was left below 1/4 and a total charge of $45.30 for 3.6 gallons of gas (More than the cost of the entire rental). After calling to ask that they look again, LeAnn gave me a story of how "the truck gauges are never very accurate and can vary overnight". Beware... the facts don't add up here, and the customer should not be left with the only recourse of having to post a review (after having his money stolen). Not sure what kind of bonus she got for being crooked, but other renters, BEWARE!

Let people know that some 10ft trucks don’t come with ramps cuz I was told that every I closed I haul truck does but come to find out that is false... my own fault but please let it be known that not every truck comes with a ramp :/

I refueled according to the instructions but it was a little over what I got when I returned the van. I expected some refund regarding that, but there was no refund in my bill. Quite disappointing

While the employee was wonderful, this is not the location that I booked a truck at. It is unacceptable that Uhaul accepts a reservation and then just changes the location! This change costs over an hour and was further from our house. Very upsetting, especially since we initially went to the location that we booked. Frustrating!!

I had the best U-Haul Rental Pick Up Location experience ever. The staff was friendly and warm. Very kind and helpful, and they gave me hospitality that I was not expecting. Well done.

When I arrived, I listed that I needed a dozen furniture pads. Apparently, they gave 48 pads to a previous customer and left me with none, blaming it on some "rep" that didn't give them any more. They had me drive a mile down the road to another Uhaul, only their pads had oil and dirt all over them. They managed to scrounge up 3 of them for me from a back room. After I left with the truck, I saw the gas tank was not on 5/8 but at 1/2 a tank. Then I was supposed to get an appliance dolly, ~never did and was charged $20.00 for it. They should have known to fix that BEFORE billing me. I had to call to correct the situation. VERY, VERY POOR EXPERIENCE THIS TIME AROUND.

Truck could have been swept better interior wise. Should have power mirrors and a rear camera. The value of a 17 footer vs 28 footer is not that good. 17 footer is overpriced.

Experience and customer service at this location was great. Unfortunately I did have communication errors with scheduling - I had scheduled online on a Friday and was promptly called. There were no trucks available Sunday for the desirable day the worker said so I inquired if something was available Saturday. He had said yes and we scheduled that. When I went to pick up said vehicle, it had been put into the computer system as a pick up for Sunday. I left without a truck and spent the next 45 minutes on the phone. Not cool! We shall see if there will be a “$50 quarntee” credited.

It would have been nice and a great safety feature to have power adjustable mirrors and a rear back up camera. Suggestion.

Called me to see when I was planning on bringing it back so they could rent it out again and make more money. Not willing to give me a deal seeing I paid $29 for the day and they wanted it back after a couple hours to make more money on it. Plus having to pay mileage. What happened to when it was included?!

They were out of power in the morning when I pick up the truck, they directed me to Uhaul Farmington Hills location but there's no actual internal communication between 2 locations. Uhaul Farmington Hills was out of trucks but they suggested me to use 24/7 online pick up, which should be given as an option in the first place by this Compass storage branch. I understand this is not their fault but they are definitely unprofessional and not helping as all.

If a rental is not available because of a customer being late returning a truck and you offer the customer a bigger truck at the same rental cost, offer the customer an additional $5 off. This might offset some of the cost of the bigger truck using more gas and therefore costing the customer more money to bring the fuel tank back to the original line.

This location was FABULOUS! I had an impromptu / last minute situation where I needed to move. I called on a Saturday morning, close to noon, and there were able to accommodate beyond my expectations. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly which made it that much easier because as everyone knows, moving can be stressful. There were some old / yucky cigarette butts left in the back of the truck which was not ideal but other than that A+++
