The website is not clear about the charges to rent a truck. Online, my estimate said $117. After getting to the rental location, there was an extra $28 insurance fee, a $15 rental tax fee and a $5 environmental fee added to that cost for a total of $165! Your EXTRA fees need to be BOLDLY printed on the estimate page.
Yes !! Too expensive. I have called several times with no answer from Corporate.. I own 2 businesses and have rented from U-haul 5 times in 2 months. I have gotten no discount or corporate rate for using often. I would like a call back with a solution to this problem. VIP Remodeling Services Inc Rene Torres 713-446-5172
We were supposed to pick up the truck in Prairieville Louisiana. We reserved a week ahead. The day before pick up they notified us we had to pick it up in Baton Rouge. We called that location and they said they hadn't had trucks since March. We called and called the main UHaul number and couldn't get through. We wound up having to rent a truck in Houston and drive there and back which cost a lot more. If we had trusted the information we had been given we would have arrived in Louisiana and not had a truck. I was very disappointed and very angry about this. This was TERRIBLE customer service. I would not recommend UHaul to anyone without them knowing the horrible problems we had. That said, the place in Houston who helps us find a truck we're wonderful.
The drop off was equally as difficult, as the mobile application was again not working. We were stuck onsite at this location for more than an hour (after the previous nightmare chain of events caused by the Beaumont location), trying to configure an alternative route for mobile drop off, since this location was closed at the time. Thankfully, we were able to contact Mr. Javier Perez; who kindly walked us through an alternative method of mobile drop off via email (which we completed). Please extend my deepest gratitude to Mr. Perez, as he also helped guide us to resolution in an obviously terrible situation. I would now ask what Uhaul proposes to offer me, for the obvious nightmare which myself and my spouse were put through, due to the discrepancies and horrible customer service provided at the Beaumont location, causing a chain of events which delayed our move and caused mass headaches? Worst experience!!! It was a 3rd party UHaul place (actual storage unit facility) and the “property manager†was rude and cursed at me twice. I was originally told I didn't have a reservation to drop off, even tho my paperwork stated otherwise. He “kindly†removed a $20 fee (no mention of that on my papers) for them to unhook the trailer. I guess if you're not physically capable of doing it yourself, they charge you. I tried calling a family member nearby to come help but was told it was against their policy to have someone other than their staff help me. I contacted UHaul customer service to file a complaint on said “manager†and was told the area manager would look into it. I definitely won't be returning to that location and do not recommend it!
Today was crazy busy. There were no uhauls anywhere and the systems were down. The guy who helped me out today was courteous and patient. Thank you so much.

Your online is horrible and i spent 1 hour at location trying to turn in uhaul and app would not show me the return option. After another hour find out the location never even checked out the Uhaul to me terrible and will never rent again
Better understanding of your rental process. We had the truck due for drop off 11/02. We only had the rental from 10/30 at 3pm till 10/31. Then we were advised that we would not have a credit and would be charged $160 for the 24 hours. I feel that we were ill informed and taken advantage of.
I was told I could return my one way rental to any location and the first thing the lady said to me when I walked in was, “you can't drop your truck off here without a reservation.†Again, truck still wasn't in my name, mileage was listed wrong so they tried to charge me for 500 miles when I went 60 (and paid $163). Another hour and a half plus multiple phone calls to UHAUL, the district manager and branch manager to process the return. Lady was irritable and said on the phone right in front of me, “She's right here CBD not being helpful.†I'm not sure how I, as the customer and the one being so seriously inconvenienced, is supposed to be helpful. I returned the truck with mire gas in it than when I took possession. From start to finish, the entire ordeal was a debacle and there was terrible to little communication. Never again will I rent a uhaul and if asked, I'll strongly discourage others from doing business with them. $163, 3.5 hours, a nail in the tire immediately upon getting the truck and attitude from the returning employee....forget that.
When something is reserved at a location have it at the location don't send your customer 20 miles out of the way to another location
The girl never did a walk-around of the truck to inspect for damage. When I turned the truck in, they claimed there was damage, which I DID NOT cause. Had it not been for insurance, they were going to try to make me pay for it. Also, I ordered 24 pads. She gave me two packages, which she said contained 12 pads each. When I got to dropoff, there were only 12 pads.
Truck smelled like cigarettes, lady at drop off was very rude about the whole thing. the lady at pick up was very nice.
Honestly, more staff on a Saturday. There was only 1 superb staff working.
The lady was very friendly and nice and helpful.
There was an issue as reported to me with the engine idling spontaneously "reving" uncontrollably. I did note this fact once I personally was able to observe it. The equipment was NOT returned at the time due to tbe fact that there was a time linit abd it was not problematic until the truck's return.
Everything went really well
The driver side of the cab was pretty dirty, maybe wipe out the floor liners. Also, I used the online pickup and drop off method. The pickup process seemed to take quite some time while “the agent†was reviewing my qualifications for rental. I even asked what the holdup was with no response. Overall, the process was good and the location was very flexible with me when I needed to cancel a day before and reschedule a day after the original rental date due to weather. I greatly appreciated this.
Pick up was easy but scheduling a time for pick up was more difficult. Only one staff working and had to schedule pick up around her lunch when it was most convenient for her instead of what would work best for me.
Only problem is that they did not have all my info. I Couldn't find pay code for the unloaders (We make it fit movers), and they could not look it up. Those movers were great, but we couldn't give them a payor code, so they have not been paid yet.
Give them the same service, great job

The unit was not on location at the promised date and time. The resulting delay caused me to have to reschedule my appointments for that day. Unacceptable.

Booking the Uhaul was not easy. I had to speak to at least 4 different representatives. The representative I spoke to that was in charge of the Houston truck planning was extremely rude to me and was not helpful at all. He spoke to me like I was not worth his time and beneath him. The truck itself was fine but seemed very bouncy.

I did advance online checkin but the pickup location could not find my information. Checkin was too long.
This was not my original location for p/u. I was referred to this location only after I went in person Saturday to the Baytown, N Main location to reserve n Sunday when I went to p/u find out the dolly had been double booked. This is the 2nd incident like this. My 2 hour job turned into a 4.5 hr job which was ridiculous & no compensation made for the time that I had to go out of my way or for my gas. I will in the future find a different route done with U-Haul North Main and do not plan to refer anyone.

Truck has shards of glass in back of box truck and in cab of truck. Little pieces of glass in gear shift and glass behind seats. Customer service was friendly and great. Convenient location for me.
