I reserved a 17 ft truck and was given a 15 ft truck which ruined my moving plans. The truck labored badly before changing gears. Contract said gas tank was at half but it was a bit below that.Catharine K.

The van that I rented was extremely dirty and smelled bad. Only the driver's side seat and steering were cleaned before it was handed to me. The rest of the van, specially the back of the van was unclean and not sanitizedNupur G.

The vehicle was very clean inside and out, but when I told the guy I was going to dump off some things at the dump, he said bring it back like you got it. It was raining so it was impossible to bring it back totally clean. I have never been asked to car wash a U-Haul truck before. Especially for basic mud from the street. He recommended that I take it to a car wash, so I did despite having minimal dirt on it from the gravel and the rain. I will never go there again. He kept emphasizing how clean his trucks were. Who in the fuck cares?! I just needed a pick up truck.Ryant D.

Brad was very professional and thorough. Ridiculously clean and impressive! It was raining that day and we muddied up the van pretty bad. Brad didn't hesitate to let us know that he would clean it up and take care of it no problem, No extra charges! I would definitely recommend this location to anybody who needs U-haul. Overall, Jose was friendly and efficient. The van was the perfect size for us and easy to maneuver. The pick up and drop off were smooth. I appreciated Jose calling to make sure we were still picking up the van. Improvement: A clear sign to indicate the main entry door would be helpful. The existing sign to go around the building is great, but it was not clear which was the main entry.Tommy S.

Was a little disappointed that pick up location had to be changed the day before but the guy (wish I'd gotten his name) at 1433 55th Ave wa super helpful and had everything ready to go right when I got there. I originally scheduled to rent and pick up the U-Haul truck at the 6th St, Berkeley location. When I arrived to pick up the truck, I was told that they didn't have the truck at that location and I would have to travel 20 min away to Oakland to pick up the truck. This was very frustrating because I had to take an Uber to the Berkeley and then the Oakland locations. There was no email, text phone call or any other communication letting me know that I had to go to the Oakland location. My confirmation email stated that My pick up location was Berkeley. Jose Castellano is very knowledgeable and helpful; we were overwhelmed because we were renting the U hual from the Stockton location and didn't know the processed of drop of. He was so knowable about the processed and everything was done smoothly. He made our experience a breeze. I would recommend all my friends and family to come here because he made us feel comfortable and listened to all of our concerns, and answered all the questions we had They offered a dropped off serviced which was very convenient for us because we utilized the truck until the end of the day.Johnny E.

Jose is the man. Genuine, up-front and funny as hell -- He'll offer in kind what you offer. 15 stars out of 10 -- would give more but then it's like offering free street tacos from International at 3AM in the morning. Despite a couple setup mishaps and an ordering struggle on my part, he swiftly helped me up to the plate (check out the awesome bay love) to take on the 13+ hour trek. It was solidly appreciated and his anecdotes made me second-doubt my choosing to move. It's gold when you know how challenging it is from both sides of the counter -- he does -- anyhow, take it as you will, one of the true diamonds in the rough.DanAnh N.

hi. My issue is not so much the location as Uhaul. I ordered a van with dolly & blankets. The day OF my order I got a call telling me that no vans are available & got downgraded to a truck but told that it would at least have the dolly & blankets. The location did not have either-- and wrote that there was 1/4 tank- didn't have me check- I got in & there was less gas so I took a pic of the gas & was later charged for gas & not given any discount for the 2 giant mistakes that were entirely the fault of Uhaul. I think I deserve at least a partial refund. I am happy to show the pic of the gas with the timestamp of 3 min after I drove from location. GraciasAudette L.
This place is a complete scam to the fullest. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS PLACE! I'm surprised they are open with all of the bad reviews about the same thing. I reserved a truck online for $30 then when I get there I paid $60? Ok. Then I get charges that I rode for 242 miles? I drove from the location to the city and back, a max of 30 miles. What? I made an attempt to call them and the woman who answered said she'll be getting back to me with more details. Takes no ownership and blames everything on a male coworker who was working at the time. This scam ass uhaul location. You're better going somewhere legit. Do not give them your money! SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM. Update - lady who works there said they'd be giving me a refund for the incomplete charges. Another update - NO refund was made for the lack of gas and the over charge. We were suppose to be charged like $40 after we spoke. Final update - Uhaul sent me an invoice for $77 saying it's going to collections but still has my $68 I paid. WHY?!!!???!?????? I went to the location to ask why and the girl printed me out sheets that barley had ink on them and tried to say I was loud. Yelled the same excuses. She was louder and more mad then me which was hilarious. They still have my $68. Stop spending so much time on how mad I am and realize that I'm no dummy to your scam games. Whoever can make reason of how I'm being charged as legit is CRAZY just like her. Don't rent from this place. They're a scam. It's run down and they have many reviews online just like mine. First of all they charged me for two days worth and accused me of not returning the van, when it was returned within the 4 hours it was scheduled to be rented. They processed a payment for 2 days worth of rental after I had called them twice. They sent me 2 invoices of which shows a reimbursement of the overcharge, IN CASH. I had them re-issue me an invoice reflecting a Credit card reversal for the amount and I'm still waiting for that reimbursement to come through. It has been a couple of days and there's still no sign of the reimbursement. I expect a follow regarding this awful experience. Or this business will surely be hearing from BBB.Melvign B.

Parking location is not secure, the truck had a hole punched in the gas tank, leaking gas everywhere and truck stank of gas. People need to move their clothes, bed etc and not have belongings soaked in gasoline.David S.

This has been one of the worst vendor experiences I have ever had (and I will certainly be posting this online). I was given a price online and I called U-Haul to confirm my understanding was correct. When I got to the facility later that day I was told a different price. The rep there and I were on the phone for a half hour trying to get it straightened out. There was an obvious math error. Finally, I was told it would be straightened out when I returned the van. I returned the van during the hours when the facility was to be open but it was locked and closed. I called U-Haul about the situation and to resolve the pricing problem, spent another half hour on the phone, and was finally told that it would be handled and to watch for my email. I received an email the next day and I was still overcharged. I called U-Haul and this time was on the phone for more than an hour. The situation was not resolved and I was not allowed to speak to a supervisor. I was told facility manager would call me within 48 hours. 48 hours is almost up; no call. I don't believe I will get a call nor do I believe that U-Haul customer service has the ability to resolve this situation. I will never never use U-Haul again. I will do everything I can think of to alert others to how bad this service is. I will contest the charges with my credit card company. Do not use U-Haul. Find some other way to move your stuff.Gael S.
Have your rep inspect the vehicle after it's been used. Can't blame the homeless on this one. Clearly stuff left behind by the previous user. Because the back of the truck was up against the fence, no way could a homeless person got that furniture in there, I wasn't able to inspect and take a picture of the space u til I got to my destination. Also, the gas gauge was below the amount at the time of rental. I had to go out twice to put gas in order not to get charged. I have receipts and pictures to back up,these claims.GARY S.

I do recommend that location, however, I was sent to a different location on 4th Street first. My reservation was for 7:00 am, and it said I could pick it up with my phone. When I got there it was closed, so I was standing at an industrial area for a while until I could get in contact with them. They said they opened at 10:00 am, and you could not pick it up with your phone. Please stop sending people there before 10:00 am. You can't pick it up, and it is a very annoying experience.Rebeca S.
I was rerouted twice. Never received a phone call from uhaul. So I went to the Sherman drive location. Was told to go to international blvd location. I had almost arrived there and got a call from this location telling me the truck was not at international. Employee did not know address of business (for gps as we are new here). When I first got there, my truck was rented out to someone else but under my name. The rep stated that since my information was already filled in, which I was advised to do prior to pickup, he was not required to request a ID at pickup. That would make sense if it was actually rented out to the right person. I would recommend still verifying the information to ensure it is indeed the correct reservation. I called 1-800-go-uhaul and was informed I still needed to call customer service to get my issue resolved. Another persons reservation got changed so I could get the truck which didn't make me feel good. Now that person had to travel to Berkeley to pickup a truck due to U-Hauls mistake. As a former employee of U-Haul this was not the best experience. Upon my return I was only charged for 1 day rental, which I was grateful for since I had it over 24 hours.cymone G.

Truck not ready. Order changed from 20' to 10' without consulting me; I was only told upon arrival. Reservation stated 8 AM and showed store open 8 - 6 PM, but employee did not arrive until 8:30. I had to go to another location and the truck had 1/8 tank of gas, so the first thing I had to do was get gas. I had 4 movers waiting around for an hour as uhaul wasn't ready. The 1/8 of a tank issue relates to the west grand location, they rest is for my original reservation on San Pablo.Rolf N.
