First time uhaul user. Found the experience intuitive and well-thought out! Had a bit of surprise when picking up vehicle and being asked for lease/passport/second contact! Why could this not have been asked earlier rather that last minute? Nonetheless happy overall!

Only one person knew the U-haul information at the convenience store location. The other guys had blank stares on their face. I booked for two days but brought the truck back that same evening. The attendant in the store didn't give me a receipt or anything and said he would make sure the other guy knew i brought the truck back. I still got charges for two days. 12/2 - 12/4 I brought it back the evening of 12/2. Not happy at all - I am now disputing charges and an addition $86 is coming through after I got a receipt. I believe my card is compromised.

Truck had 1/4 tank when received. Only used for 6.4 miles and returned with just over 1/4 tank after filling two gallons, but had a surcharged of $60 to fill 6 gallons. This is fraud.

The rental location was good and the truck itself was very nice. I also found the staff behind the desk helpful. It was a little tricky to maneuver the truck in and out of the parking spaces next to the building. I also had some issues with the U-haul app. It didn't let me report that the fuel was below 1/2 a tank when I picked it up. (I just bought the extra fuel.) It also got stuck on the first screen when I tried to use the app to return the vehicle. I tried several times to enter the mileage, gas tank level, and photo of the dash, but it just kept taking me back to the same screen. Fortunately, the helpful staff at the facility were there to take care of the return for me.

Awful experience. Missing furniture pads, gas level incorrect, filthy truck, and rude service. After being sent across the city twice due to uhauls system being down and reservation being canceled due to workers giving wrong information. I want a refund! I will never use uhaul again and plan to contact the better business bureau after I appropriately review the ridiculous service. A customer should not have to clean the truck prior to use to avoid sticky residue, sunflower seeds all over, dog hair, wrappers. Disgusting.

I specifically ordered a dolly, utility dolly and blankets with my order. Only the dolly was in the truck, I was able to get the utility dolly from the location but no blankets were available. This was very disruptive to my timing and I had to rush out and find blankets for our move and then return them causing further delays during my work day.

Trying to check out the truck by phone is very frustrating. Despite getting my account set up in advance and then trying to use the chat or even calling U-Haul for help, I found myself standing out in the lot waiting for help that never came. Thanks to the attendant at that Shell station, he came out to check on my and then got everything approved through his own computer.

I reserved an appliance dolly yet that location doesn't carry them, and, according to the store clerk, has let you know this. I had to make a reservation at another location, wasting both my time after picking up my van and time picking up the dolly at a location that did have one. I realize you have a near-corner on the truck-rental market, but I would warn others to avoid using your service if possible.

My reservation was scheduled for 11 and I arrived on time. The attendant told me that I’d be able to get the keys from a drop box. There was no drop box code. I spent over 20 minutes on calling U-haul multiple times trying to figure out how to get the key, when the manager finally showed up and it turned out they didn’t use the drop box. I ended up getting my truck 30 minutes late. I’m very unimpressed and think it was unacceptable.

They overbooked and sent me to a different location. They called me 20 minutes before my pickup time saying they didn't have anything available. The truck I got from the other location ended up not having any of the equipment I rented, but they charged me for it anyway. What is the point of having a reservation system if you're going to overbook?

The Uhaul was awesome and one of the people working at the Shell was amazing. When I got back I needed help checking out and the individual in the shell was just yelling at me saying fill up gas but now giving me more information on what to do. I ended up having to walk away since the individual just started yelling louder. One of the individuals when I got there was super helpful. the second individual makes me not want to go back there. Doing things online can sometimes be difficult and he ruined the experience for me.

There was nothing wrong with this location and its truck. U-Haul however, never called me to confirm a location, provided me with wrong rental information in a very late confirmation email almost sending me to another location for pickup if I had not checked the reservation and called customer service (as well as this location and the other location I was "scheduled" at) for confirmation. This made my rental experience very stressful and frustrating. I have brought this issue up to multiple customer service representatives and it feels like not much seems to have been done let alone an apology for this mistake. This experience deters me from doing another online reservation from U-Haul again.

The pads that I asked for were NOT in the truck and have a picture to proved it, and instead of the requested furniture dolly (the kind that is square and has for wheels wasn't included. Instead the truck had an empty bag for the pads and a 2nd unneeded utility dolly. All of this was in my comments when I returned the truck and yet I am still be charged for items not used.

My reservation was completely messed up and I had to spend an hour on the phone to get it resolved. By the time the issue was resolved and I was able to get into the lock box, the key was not present. It turns out the cashier had the key my key the entire time, yet failed to mention this when I asked him for help over an hour earlier. Because I was so delayed in picking up the van, the rest of the timing was completely messed up and I had to do a bunch of extra driving, costing me extra in mileage charges, as well as move without any help. When I called to extend my reservation time, I was told I was already past due, which is not correct. After sorting that out, I still barely had enough time to return the van. Fix your reservation system, it’s ridiculous that a company as large as this can’t even keep its reservations straight.

The checkout process should be made more clear. I was asked for my driver's license and it was scanned using a phone that had "UHaul Rental Only" marked on a piece of tape across the back. In an age of identity theft this made me feel VERY uncomfortable. I was also sent a bill that by all accounts over charged me. I'm on hold to speak with a customer service agent.

The experience over all was ok but the truck was not well maintained which made it very hard to drive (the truck wound’t go straight). Secondly for some reason I was accused of stealing a dolly which I did not. Even though this was cleared up right away after one phone call with the customer support but even till today I still have not received my refund for that and a compensation for this poor experience.

Over all, it was a great experience of having your service for my move out/in.However, I and my friends had an unnecessary dispute with a customer service since she used the driver’s name to confirm my order at pick up time, and neglected the order number that I printed as told in my U-Haul account. I hope you could emphasize the confirmation Method to your representatives at the pick up locations to avoid this time consuming matter from happening again.Many thanks.

This is a remote pickup location (garage) without a uhaul desk. You must use the Uhaul app and I had significant problems witth it and the pickup process (note i am a 30 year tech guy and the process tried my patience. I started the process and got part way thru and the app never provided the code to get the keys. The locale attendant did help with that. I did receive a 'response' 2 HOURS after my pickup that I was OK'ed to take the truck. After using Carshare apps this was really an poor experience to start. Ordered 2 dollies and neither was in my truck. Without the dollies available my move time was greatly increased as I was limited to my personal hand truck. On returning the vehicle I was speaking with another renter about the missing dollies and he said he had not ordered any but there was one in his truck. Did not make me happy about this comment. Between the app and not having the ordered equipment , I can say this was not an enjoyable experience.

There was no U-Haul attendant at this location, and the Shell station cashier was rude and unhelpful. It took us over 30 minutes to figure out how to get the U-Haul key from a lock box, including calling the U-Hual service number and trying the navigate the app which kept freezing. Turns out the lock box was open the whole time, so anyone could have come up and stolen the key. Incredible unsecure. Meanwhile the cashier was yelling at us whenever we asked a question. We saw another person there to pick up a U-haul having issues as well. The U-haul app is a good idea in theory, but there absolutely needs to be a U-Haul employee at every pick up location to avoid the confusing nightmare we faced. Moving is hard enough as it is - this is something that could be a lot more helpful to the customer.

The service was awful. We spent almost an hour with customer services this morning because we were overcharged at a higher rate for mileage, not given a receipt or copy of our contract at either the checkin or check out, were not issued the gas credit for putting in an additional quarter tank of gas, and the equipment we reserved online wasn’t even available, which we were given no heads up for. The customer service rep we spoke to on the phone was absolutely wonderful and did everything she could to help us. The Wedgwood Shell 104 location was the worst U-haul experience we’ve had.

I requested two furniture dollies from the U-haul web site. When I went to the pick up location, they told me none were available, and in fact never are. Thus my moving job was made unnecessarily more difficult. I see this as being U-haul national's fault. The truck I was given had significant damage to the rear driver's side body panel around the wheel well. The clerk gave me grief when I politely asked for her assistance in documenting this. She told me not to worry, I wouldn't be charged for it. I called U-haul national to report the problem. They took notes and counseled that I go back and inform the clerk again of the damage and that I had called national. When I did so, the clerk got snarky. Perhaps U-haul should choose its retail partners more carefully. I will definitely not rent from this location again.

The original 10 ft truck had a broken fuel receptacle so can't rate the equipment well maintained. Luckily, I chose to fuel the truck at the pickup location, which allowed me to discover the problem. Otherwise this problem would have been very time consuming to resolve if we had been on the road. That said, the people at the pickup location were great at resolving the problem and replacing the truck in a timely manner. The replacement was in good condition.

Worst experience ever. Took 30 minutes to get the vehicle and my movers were on the clock at $40 an hour. The 7th person I got in customer service finally fixed it. The guy at the Shell station could not have been worse. Will NEVER use this location again.

The customer before me was 3 hours late. Customer service had to move my reservation from 10am to 1pm. The customer showed up at 1pm. They left tarps and plastic and dirt. I had to clean that up on the back end. The station manager was really kind and their hands were tied. Their system went down when I finally got my truck at 1pm. They couldn't check me in and my app said I was good to go so I left.

we reserved 2 dolly's online and when we arrived, the agent told us They had been rented.when asked why this would be the case when we had specifically reserved them, he told us that sometimes people just take them. Given that they need to be included as part of the rental and paid for, we found this hard to believe. Overall the agent was unapologetic and rude.

The hand truck and moving blankets were not in truck and so never got them. The gas tank was empty and so I put 4 gallons of gas in it($15). I knew I was not going far but wanted to be safe. I only put about 6 miles on truck so I figure you owe me $10 for gas which I am sure will not receive. I have to use you again on Friday to complete move but will be last time and for sure from this location. VERY POOR SERVICE.

There was literally NO gas in the truck. So I had to put $40.00 in just to get it off the lot. I drove a total of about 6 miles and returned it with almost a half a tank. The lady at the store was very nice and apologetic but said once I signed the contract I was responsible for the fuel. I think that the contract needs to be signed AFTER a walk around to indicate any prior damage and to check the fuel.

Your app and whatever system is maintaining the state of your vehicle rentals is complete trash. Because of a software issue I was not able to initiate my rental on time and had to call 3 different people to manually initiate and complete my rental. Everytime I use the uhaul app it is a complete nightmare and I dread using your service.

Location was great/convenient. Had major issues though with online self check-in/check-out process. It didn't work and I had to spend a lot of extra time with a Uhaul rep on the phone and the Employee that was covering the lot. We finally got it figured out and I used the truck all day. When I came to bring the truck back, I couldn't check out because the Uhaul site said they couldn't determine my location. There was no way to check out, there was no re-direction to a number to call for assistance, so I had to call the 1-800 customer service #. After being on hold for over 10 min I asked the station attendant if I could leave the keys with him and he could check me out. He said that was no problem and I left. 2 Days later I get a call from Uhaul that they don't know where my truck is that was supposed to be returned. I gave them the story AGAIN and am feeling very frustrated with the whole process. I would avoid the online/express check in next time and just use a real person to avoid a huge hassle.

While I appreciate that UHaul is working to make their equipment more convenient to access by making rentals available from local gas stations, you need to make sure those employees know how to conduct the transaction. My recent rental was terrible. The attendant had no idea how to check out the equipment--it took forever--and when I returned the truck, it got even worse. They didn't want to provide a receipt, and when I insisted, it showed a charge of $110 on what should have been a +/- $75 rental. The argument that ensued was ugly and quite stressful. I will never make the mistake of renting from this location, or from a non-official UHaul location again.

I did like the ability to pick up my uhaul from the Shell station but I had several issues getting the truck out of the back parking lot. There were several cement posts to prevent people from hitting the building that really made it difficult to maneuver the trucks. I would have appreciated that the staff back the trucks into the spots in back so that I wouldn't have to turn the truck around without any help. The second thing that was strange was the made who worked at the station was incredibly unprofessional and started screaming at another driver to move their truck. They were waiting for something. It was scary and I won't be going back.

The experience and the attendant at the Wedgwood shell station was very poor. I originally had secured the rental from the mobile app. I went through the steps to secure to vehicle only to find the key storage to be empty. I went inside to ask the gas station attendant and he had no idea how to rent out the uhaul properly. First he gave me the wrong key and then when I came back he realized his mistake but said it was too late since he has mixed me up in the "system" with another customer and said he had no idea how to fix it and told us to call Uhaul. So we called, but then told us to hang up because he had an idea on how to fix it, but then that didn't work. So we called again and then he told us "Hey it's fine just take the truck you have an go it is no problem". So a half hour has gone by a this point. I notice the dolly and blankets I ordered were not in either truck. I was still charged for this. He tells us to put gas in the truck and to keep the receipt and we will be paid back. After I return the truck a different attendant says he has no idea what I am talking about when I asked about reimbursement for the gas. Now I have a receipt from Uhaul that says one amount but my credit card statement says another. Seems like Uhaul should pick whether they want this location to be by phone only or totally controlled by the attendant, not some bizarre mixture of both. In addition they need to better train the attendants at the Shell station.

I was charged $162+ dollars when I initially reserved a 10’ truck and had to call to change the reservation to the 15’ truck upon pickup as the location reported that equipment as currently defective. The fuel tank was half full when we picked the vehicle up and I took photos upon pickup and drop off (after refueling AT THE DROPOFF LOCATION SINCE ITS A GAS STATION). After receiving the receipt today, I was indeed charged an additional almost $70 for FUEL?! Is this a joke? U-Haul? The entire company is a joke, correct? I can’t even get the equipment that I’ve reserved and now I’m charged $162+ dollars for 6 hours of a truck rental? We cleaned it and refueled it, as advised. I’ve now spent a total of 3 additional hours dealing with this nightmare and am waiting for a refund to be “approved”. This is a disaster, please stop doing business. Please for the love of god! You have no clue how to treat a customer and that’s usually okay but then charging me for your mistakes is out of this world. The bar is so low and you can’t even do that.. how disappointingly sad.

When I first went to pick up the truck, the guy inside said my truck wasn’t ready because the previous renter didn’t leave the key. There were 2 other trucks there. He told me to call u-haul corporate. So I did. First person I talked to was friendly but then passed me off to someone else. This person told me they weren’t renting me the truck because I didn’t download the app and check in on the app. WTF?! Are you kidding me? She was very difficult. So in the course of three different people I got three different stories. Makes no sense. When I was on the phone with the third person the guy inside the store ran out to me and knocked on my car window telling me to come inside. Then he decided to go ahead and give me a truck. Like why did I have to go through all of that?! Then I decided to drop it off after hours because I had an event I had just finished with 500 people in attendance and I wanted to go home and rest. It was 1am. But no! The damn app wasn’t working and I couldn’t unlock the key box. Seriously?! The app crashed twice and I had to come back a few hours later with the key. What a stupid system.

I had a miserable experience with U-haul on 12/15/18. I arrived at the designated pickup location at 8:15am, 15 minutes after my scheduled pickup time. I arrived and tried to start the mobile pick-up process only to be told in the app that there had not been equipment assigned to my rental. I tried calling the "24/7" number provided to resolve issues but after a half dozen attempts, I could never get through. I left a couple of messages but never heard back. For over an hour, I waited in the rain as I had biked to pick up the truck with no one responding to my requests for help. I finally called the main U-haul customer service number and, after more than an hour of discussion, finally got them to work through their system to find the mistake that had been made and allow me to pick up the truck I had rented several weeks in advance. I ended up leaving the rental location over 2 hours after I had first arrived, soaking wet and very annoyed. After this debacle, the truck itself served perfectly but my customer service experience with this "easy" mobile system has confirmed I will always search out any alternative before renting with U-haul again. I was charged for 2 days but have the truck for 24 hours + 28 minutes. You can't give people 30 min grace window? I will use handy andy next time for sure. They have beater trucks but the people aren't inhuman machines. Rental via smart phone is not worth the hassle. Why do I need to confirm my location via GPS to pick up the truck? If I'm at the wrong location, they will obviously not be able to hand me the keys. Why all the business with pictures of myself and my drivers licence, AT THE PICKUP LOCATION? That couldn't be done BEFORE I left my house? The guy at the gas station kept telling me they were closed. They are selling gas, candy, beer, and handing out uhaul keys, but they are somehow closed? I still have no idea what that guy was trying to tell me. AVOID AVOID AVOID. Uggh. Use local rental company run by real people. This is NOT beef with Wedgwood Shell 104 but rather UHaul

my mileage was incorrect. Stated I drove 40 miles. It was much less. I had the van for a little over an hour to go to a warehouse to pick up appliances, drive the to my house in the 2 blocks behind the gas station. I put $35.00 worth of gas in a tank that was 3/4 full when I rented in. What number of gallons is 3/4? How do I know how many gallons I need to brin the van up to 3/4 full. This was a terrible experience. I paid through the nose for under 2 hours of van time. The station manager filled the tank for me as I could not climb in the van one more time.

The staff in this location was extremely unhelpful and rude. Both of my credit cards did not work because this location only had an old school card swipe reader. Of course, my cards would not because they were chip-enabled. He did not try to help and told me to contact Uhaul with gave me a bad comment, "you don't have anything on these cards" I had to go on my phone and made another reservation and paid online to get the truck.

The man who checked me in was incredibly rude. He also said that they were technically closed even though I reserved the truck a week before. The truck only had 1/8 tank of gas, and he said I should fill it up before leaving because of that. I didn't understand why it wasn't full from the beginning, and I asked if I'd be reimbursed for unused gas, but he wouldn't answer. We had to call Uhaul. They were helpful.

It's be a good idea to include the 'other' option for those drivers from countries different than us and Canada.

A vehicle was not assigned to me so I could not pick up with the mobile check-in. Also, when I tried to fill up the tank, there was a leak in the gas tank and it poured gas onto the ground below the truck. The service station attendants were lovely and very helpful despite these issues.

The location and customer service at this location were great, but unfortunately the cargo van I rented was filthy! It looked like someone had transported construction materials. The back was full of dirt, wood chips, and nails, and the front was very muddy and had some garbage. I spent about 30 min trying to sweep out the back so that my boxes and furniture wouldn't get dirty, but it was very difficult to sweep the rubber mat, so I ended up having to get a tarp to cover up the filthy (and potentially dangerous, given the nails) surface. I shouldn't have to clean up after another customer. I followed the suggestions by previous reviewers, and did not use the mobile check in option. Instead, I checked in with the clerk inside the Shell station, and the process was painless. This check in procedure was probably the best experience I've had with UHaul, because the van I ordered was actually there. But it seems like every time I rent a UHaul something goes wrong, and this time it was the condition of the UHaul. So while I would recommend this specific location, I hesitate to recommend UHaul in general to anyone.

Manager and staff for rental checkout were great, but they did not inform me that they would not check me in on Sunday afternoon. Staff person on Sunday afternoon refused to assist me with checking back in, would not direct me to key drop, would not call manager, would not give me U Haul phone number since phone app would not work. I have spoken to the Manager who was very responsive and I hope no one else will be treated this way.
