We reserved a vehicle 2 days in advance, but none was available. We were sent to another location 8 miles away, wasting 1.5 hours while paying $500/hr for movers, appraisers, and legal enforcement waiting at the moving location. UHaul clerk's response was, "You want the truck or not." I was given a truck with only 1/4 tank of gas, wasting more time before being able to start the move. I was charged for a dolly we did not use. Truck was left overnight in the unsecured UHaul lot, I was charged for the 17 miles extra because UHaul could not fulfill my order that was confirmed 2 days in advance, and I now see there is a $20 convenience fee not mentioned, but texted to my office phone on a Sunday, for not texting when the vehicle was parked in the UHaul lot at 6:30 pm when the lot was closed, despite the rental going to 6:45, and being later in time due to UHaul's agent's issues.KEVIN J.

The online system to check out the vehicle is terrible, it's supposed to be swift and efficient, it took me 40mins to go through the online process and approvals. I will NEVER use this process again and I will tell all friends, family and anyone who will listen to avoid this online system.Andrew F.

The moving companies that I booked were awful. The first one was 2 hours late and if they were on time, we wouldn't have drove in the rain with our trailer that they helped load in addition to the Uhaul. And they moving company that unloaded us was 40 minutes late AND put 3 dings in our new walls and didn't apologize when they left. Just very disappointed in the movers that you recommended on your website when I booked the van!Jeffrey R.

Got a flat on the trailer and had to wait 4 hours for someone to get there to change it. The guy that came called and could barely speak english and had to try to lead him to where we were over facetime and couldn't hardly understand a word. 4 hours was a ridiculous amount of time to have to wait for repair.Leigh Anne V.

Customer service sucked. The lady had a crappy attitude and even stated that if I didn't guaranteed I'd have truck back on time she wouldn't rent to me because she was tired of being liked to. As a customer, I've never experienced such bad customer service. Very impolite and down right nasty attitude.JAMES M.

I was charged for an extra day when my original reservation was set up for Saturday thru Thursday. I received a call from All Purpose Storage in Tomball, Texas, â€œthe renting locationâ€ stating they would like me to pick up a day early since they had a lot of reservations on Saturday morning and they would add an extra day free of charge for them asking me to pick up a day early. I did as they requested and picked up a day early to accommodate them and now I am being charged an extra day when my original pick up day was Saturday.JEREMY H.

The lady was nice at first, then at some point, when I went to Walmart after getting the U-Haul trailer, I came out, and the trailer was off if its hitch. The guy who installed it didn't even tighten it down to the hitch, and one chain fell off, plus, the chains were completely backward. If I had not found this, it could have caused a major accident on the freeway, killing my children and me. So, I was supposed to have the trailer back Saturday at 9 AM??? I didn't even know if I was going to have it back by that day or time - that is why I asked a U-Haul employee about this in person. She said if I bring the trailer back after hours, I would simply be charged for another day; that is it! First thing Saturday morning, some other female employee called my wife, threatening to charge me $50 plus the extra day. She gave some line about â€œhard times; I infringed on another reservationâ€¦.â€ Wait a minute here. A business is responsible for their own reservations. If this were the case, why was I not notified in the first place? Do you want to know what I think really happened? I believe that the female employee that called my wife made a mistake and made too many reservations, plain and simple!DARREN H.

Why when reserving the truck you pick the rate of 19.95 but are charged $89.00 that's false advertisement. I'm not happy about that at all. Per the contract you will give the best rate so it should state the rates my apply or become higherMECHELLE M.
I was highly disappointed in the bait and switch tactic used to boost my costs for the rental by more than 20%. When I made my rental reservation online I made it with a location near my home that made pickup and return easy for me. However, when I went to pick up the unit, I was told that my reservation that works out to been moved to another location 8 miles further from my home. This not only created an unplanned delay in getting the unit, it also added 17 miles to my mileage charge. At $1.09 a mile that added over $18 (about 25%) to my total cost. I consider this a classic "bait and switch" - giving me a quote and ultimately creating factors to boosts that quote by switching to another location. I can see how this practice implemented nationwide is a great, although shady, way to increase revenue for U-Haul at the expense of customers. Once they've manipulated the customer into a rental they obviously won't have time to change or re=shop, it's a slam dunk for U-Haul. I would not say I won't use U-Haul again, It's a bit of a captive market. And the local people were very nice and the equipment was good. But I will tell anyone who will listen to watch out for this shady practice.Gary A.
