This was an awful experience. The truck was not available but the movers showed up. I spent more for UHaul arranged movers....UHaul refusing to refund and sending me all over the place. UHaul should cover for costs directly arising as a direst result of a failure on their part!!Jenipher C.
Key drop box was very hard to find, in the end I'm not sure key went in the right spot, there was a mail slot in the garage door that had â€œ ey ropâ€ in stick on letters above it. The location is also a mechanical garage.Kevin R.
Mirrors would not stay adjusted (too loose, spun in the wind), transmission seemed like it was slipping, heavy exhaust tick, possibly lifter tick, brake rotors were wrapped on the front (pulsed when applying brakes), cab was dirty and smelled either like cigarettes or marijuana. Radio speakers were blown all around leaving it unusable. Service was okay, and I understand that the Vans come from all over, so most likely not this locations fault.Alphonse R C.

This was a very poorly managed and overly expensive experience. I reserved a 10 ft truck FIVE weeks in advance, which was cancelled on us the day before the move. We were offered a 26 ft truck 300 km from our starting point (600 km required to start the move). The gas cost for a 26 ft truck vs a 10 ft truck was hundreds in the difference. The driving required to access the truck cost us hundreds. Navigating a 26 ft truck through downtown Halifax to a small dropoff site (not our choice) was a nightmare. A safety checklist should of been done before using and provided to customer. I shouldn't have been given this truck. Steering was unsafe along with brakes, a disaster waiting to happen. I couldn't steer truck when backing up. Brake light warning and buzzer came on several times. The mileage and conditions of truck was poor. Seems like the telephone customer service system is fair but like to pass the buck. I want something done, a refund of some sort! I could of been injured or died during this ordeal. Not acceptable. Fuel tank was at 1/4 tank when I picked it up should have been at least 1/2 but ideally full. Had to go right to a gas station. Not a big deal just kind of inconvenient.NICHOLAS O.
Great staff, but when car was loaded, straps did not remain tight. We had to reattach ratchet straps to one tire at every gas stop. This was mentioned at drop off point.Erica L.

When I went to rent a u-haul the owner told me that he wanted to eat his lunch and was annoyed that I was there wanting to rent. The tank is 1/4 fuel and they tell me I have to return the tank to a 1/4, mins you how do I know how much fuel I will burn then when at gas station had to judge to the 1/4 tank because EI am not giving more fuel than what they gave me. When I returned I was told to drop keys off in slot which I did but they never told me I had to have pictures of everything about truck inside and out and photos of fuel gage , speedometer reading. I then have to use a link to secure that I dropped where I was suppose to, well after being on hold for an hour and half then to get a service rep on photos tell me after I drove home I had to drive back to where I dropped it off to do the check in. Note none of this process was told to me when I rented it. I had already dropped keys in slot so could not get pictures of anything but I did on my own take a picture of mileage as I had a guy that I would not be treated fairly. So then the customer rep tells me I have to call customer service she puts me through and this lady tells me she put me through to wrong person now this person is telling she can't give me my return as they charged me two days because I was two hours over dealing on the phone with them. could not get the picture to load when I took the truck back also there was a charge for paying with Visa, i found this a bit deceitful as it was not disclosed and you want the visa when a person rents a u haul then hey lets suck a couple of more bucks from each one U Haul would make an aggressive amt every day I guess you guys have a good take on the market but I will be looking at different rental for trucksROGER LESLIE S.

My truck had only a 1/4 tank of gas! Having to gas up first thing is super inconvenient and not knowing how much gas I'd use, I filled the tank to the cost of $110!! I never used nearly that much!! I returned it with over 1/2 a tank... your welcome Uhaul!!Valerie W.

I was overcharged on rental truck. Got the truck with 1/4 of fuel, They charged me for fuel fee of $100, they said I didnt fill the fuel the same amount when I got the truck, I only used the truck for 3 hours, drove my stuff approximately 1.5 kilometers from the pick up location, fill the fuel back to 1/4. It was really slow getting process to leave, as the system seemed to be down. I also was charged $15 cleaning fee because the blankets were not folded up, with I didn't realize they had to be. A representative that check me out did his best to get things situated and was very pleasant. However, Upon returning the next day for payment, my payment had already gone through on my credit card, which I was not told and the representative was rude and sarcastic when I questioned about the $15 charge for cleaning. I am a visually impaired person and do not drive oh, so things are not explained to me the way I thought they should have been. It would be nice to get my $15 plus tax back.Sheri T.

Pick up process was poor . Original location did not have size requested . Size offered would not fit into moving location . Had to change pick up locations which added 30 km and an hour of back tracking to an already busy day as well as an additional cost .Paul A.
I understand that we are going through some strange times and we are afraid of becoming infected with covid19, but it would have been nice if the people at this location would have picked up the phone at least. I am very new to this whole process and doing it online was confusing and such. What should have been a max 30 minute ordeal lasted almost 2 hours with a lot of confusion, frustration and wishing I went with another moving truck company. Uhaul itself was an amazing company to deal with, they were very helpful and made me feel like it was normal to be so lost online. However, the most frustrating part was that after trying to get a hold of someone at the location, even if they were to tell me there was nothing they could do, after I got a hold of uhaul someone came out staring straight at the ground, got in their car and sped off. 5 stars to uhaul, a big thumbs down for Abercrombie automotive.Nevada F.

The process of picking up the truck was great and the condition of the truck was great and clean. HOWEVER, when I went to return the truck to your Abercrombie, Pictou County location the customer service was THE WORST I HAVE EVERY ENCOUNTERED IN MY LIFE AND I AM 62 YEARS OF AGE. This person (man) did not speak when I entered the office. After standing there while he sat tying his boots, I had to ask to be waited on. I did that by asking if I needed a copy of my contract and he (without looking at me) said "wouldn't hurt". I then went to my vehicle and returned with my contract which showed the gas refill, which the nice lady had marked with a yellow highlighter. It showed a 1/4 of a tank, which was showing when I parked the truck in Abercrombie. After waiting another 5-6 minutes while the person was working on his computer "and by the way did not acknowledge me once again". I was the only person waiting to be waited on. There was a may sitting on a bench by the window. When we maid eye contact he just shrugged his shoulders and rolled his eyes. I then asked the person if he could check the truck so I could get on my way to work. He still did not speak - a few seconds later he picked up the truck key and a paper and proceeded to my rental truck. He returned shortly after and dropped the truck keys on the counter where I was standing and told me "you need to go and gas it up". this was the first bit of conversation. I told him it was only on a 1/4 tank when I picked it up like it is now and showed him my contract paper with the highlighted marking of a 1/4 tank. He said it needs fuel or we can do it for you and that will be $50.00 for the service and we put a minimum of $30.00 of fuel in it. I then said you've go to be kidding me. It is on a 1/4 of a tank and he said it was not. I then asked him where the nearest gas station was and he said "a light or two up the road". I left very upset to have to get perhaps $5.00 to bring it to the other side of the 1/4 tank mark. It was more than a couple of lights away. I had to go to the next town. I put $10.00 worth of gas in the truck and returned to the drop off location in Abercrombie where I had to start the waiting process all over again. At this point I feel he was punishing me for arguing with him. I had to ask him if he would go and check the truck as I was already an hour late for work because of his foolishness. He eventually when to check the fuel. While he was checking the fuel the man who was still sitting iby the window said, "I can't believe what I just witnessed that was such poor service". This man was waiting to have his car serviced and was not dealing with the same person I had to deal with. I then told him i only put $10.00 in the truck and drove to New Glasgow to get the gas. I said to him, "let's see what he has to say now" as I watched him returning to the office. He never said a word (again) just walked around the counter and printed a copy of my returnkathy B.

The rental pick up location was very thorough but the head reservation center took the reservation for a smaller truck (and I specifically asked if the pick up location carries that size (15 foot truck) and she assured me they do. I was offered a 26 foot truck the day before; too large for my moving needs and very challenging to navigate city streets. Reservation centre needs to do a better job being honest about the truck sizes located at the pick up location.Brian M.

Cosy way to much and was not made aware that there was a mileage charge. My total said 29.95 plus the 15.00 insurance then surprise and extra 30 something mileage charge plus I put the gas to put it back to where it was. Will definitely make others aware of this sneaky fee. I rented from you guys 5 times before and never had this fee. A rip offColin M.

Love how you are only asking about pick up and drop off location, when u-haul's policies are the only thing I had an issue with. If I book a truck over a week in advance, you can't wait until the day before to call and tell me the truck I want isn't available and I can't pick it up at the time I asked. I got it sorted out after some arguing, but seriously set up your system so that people can't book a truck that's not available at a time and location the truck won't be at, or at the very least give them a lot of notice if there are changes.Douglas B.
