The owner of the rental place was rude and not helpful. When asking questions she said to look at the app she doesn't deal with anything that's booked online. And the site wasn't working.

When doing the mobile pick up I guess just a reminder to people that before you drop the key you need to take pictures of the truck odometer and fuel gauge otherwise love the automated service

Uhaul gave me my worse experience ever. Not only did Uhaul select a location 2 days prior to pick up, but no one was there to give me my rental. It wasn’t for me calling the Round Lake Park location, I may not have had a rental that day. The Round Lake Beach location was a complete joke. Waste of my time! I will give that location a low rating on Google.

If I create an order for a 15' truck a week and a half in advance and everything went through, why was only a 10' truck available? I had to compromise and leave some things behind at my previous apartment just to have enough space in the truck. I don't understand why U-Haul has the audacity to tell its customers the day before the scheduled pick-up date whether the truck will be available or not. That should be on the day of creating an order directly from the website. So U-Haul just processes orders without knowing if the truck is available until the day before pick up? It's rather ludicrous and frustrating to deal with that sort of unprofessionalism. It's unfair to the client. Also, why am I able to order supplies from the website but the pick-up store doesn't have them available? Like I said in my previous paragraph, U-Haul just creates orders without assuring that the store will have the supplies? Why isn't there any coordination between U-Haul and the pick-up store? The only thing good out of this experience was the ABC Storage customer service. It's not their fault my preferred AND ordered truck wasn't in their lot. The clerk attended me very well and will recommend this store for any moving needs. But to recommend U-Haul is something I cannot do. This was awful service on their behalf. I won't use their service again.

The issue I had was with the app. The gate code was not identified as the gate code, i had To figure result it out on my own. Also, there wasn’t any notification that I would be able to access the gate code again later. When I realized I wasn’t able to reference the gate code again, I wasn’t able to get any kind of response on the chat. Once the chat closed, there was no guidance on how to contact someone and no phone number listed for me to call to get assistance. It took me an hour to get in touch with someone to get assistance.

It took 45 minutes to checkout because the new requirements of photo of drivers license took forever. It should be a 5 minute checkout!!

Most of our issue was not with the location, so much as for the experience of renting using our phone for after hour service. It took us an hour and a half to pick up the truck. We arrived right at 7PM and got the access code. When trying to pick up the truck, there was an error processing the request. We live chatted, but the rep was unable to help. We called and spent at least 30 minutes trying to resolve. We got disconnected, but apparently the rep was able to get the account fixed, and we finally had instructions on getting the key, which was in a locked box outside of the gate where the truck was. Luckily, we remembered the access code to go in and out of the gate. The truck did not have the requested utility dolly. I have asked for a refund for the $10 charge, so hopefully I will get that back. When we returned the truck, we were again expected to remember the access code, as that was not provided. Luckily, we did and got the truck back inside the gate. I also needed to remember the combination for putting the key back in the lock box. We found the pick up and drop off procedure to be very frustrating, especially the pick up. The night we picked up the truck was cold and windy, so that made the experience even worse. As far as the location is concerned, the driveway into the facility was in poor shape, and as far as we could tell, once in the locked gate, we needed the access code to get out. If we had forgotten it, we would have had to contact someone so we could get out. Also, I put the blame of the lack of utility dolly on the location, as they should have made sure that was in the truck.

No clear-cut parking for personal cars when picking up truck there are signs everywhere that's a no parking so it's tough to figure out where 2 the car

The place was ok but I will never again use U haul because your processes are terrible. I reserved a van online and received a confirmation. As I was driving to the place to get it I thought I’d call because the text I got from insults said it was scheduled but to call a number to confirm. Isn’t that why I placed the order? Why the extra step? Turns out my van was NOT confirmed as you cannot pick up and drop off at 2 separate places even though on line it let me do that. After many phone calls because no ONE person could help me I got it straightened out sort of. But I got a larger truck than needed so paid more than I intended. I had a similar issue wit U haul before. Very confusing process and too many non centralized places to get help. This was the worst customer service experience I’ve ever had. I will never use you again

I called the Gurnee U-Haul location as I live in Gurnee. Because the truck that I rented was not available in Gurnee ( I found that out later after I rented the vehicle) I was forced to drive 25 minutes back and forth to Round Lake. This wasted a lot of time and cost me an additional $25 in mileage fees. If I would have known that I had drive to Round Lake I would have found another company. The person in Round Lake was friendly and did a good job so I no complaints there. U-Haul also lowered the mileage rate to $0.79 a mile which alleviated some of the additional cost but not all. Overall I am generally satisfied but the whole Round Lake situation was unpleasant. Overall the truck was clean and works great. Thanks for your help in getting me a truck on short notice.

Absolutely ridiculous that you guys double booked my rental and made me drive all the way up to Round Lake Park to get a truck when I live in Schaumburg. You guys cost me significant money with my movers. Not happy at all. This is supposed to be pretty simple. Beyond pissed.

Truck had check engine light on. Told woman in building and she could not help us. Was told to get it checked out where we were picking up an auto transport. When we got it checked we could not take it and it took us two more hours to drive farther and get another truck.

The truck had snow all over the windshield, and they made me clean it. The driver's side windshield was broken, the alignment was terrible and the truck kept on sweriving to the left. I had a very bad experince.

We were supposed to pick a truck up at 9am saturday may 7th when we got there they said there was no truck there and they don't rent out the size truck we were looking for.We have an email saying pick your truck up at the grayslake facility at 9.I could go on forever about what took place.I will never go there again and will not recommend this place to anyone.Actually any chance I get I will tell people about our terrible experience.My mother is 81 and it completly stressed her out.

Although the staff was very friendly, they were not knowledgeable about the 26 ft truck which was not serviced and inspected properly before my pick up. We had to have a Uhaul mechanic called to fix the car tow dolly and check maintenance fluids/air, etc on the truck before we would leave with it. The mechanic was very helpful in answering questions about the operation of the truck and tow dolly, but the location staff was not physically able to help nor did they know much about the equipment they rent.

The rental experience was quick and easy, however, we wish that the one time "rental fee" was a little better communicated. When I reserved the trailer online the daily rate was very clearly communicated but, at no point, did the reservation system say anything about the additional $60 rental fee.

I was able to discuss my experience with the lady at this location. I explained to her my troubles with the location in Toledo Ohio and I was able to inform her of the lights being out so she could get them fixed.

again this was not the location I chose for my drop off, so I do not understand why the online gives the option to chose your pick up and drop off location when they could change a few hours before your pick up time.

ABC self storage was a great assistance. I wish the uhaul website had more options for late or early pickup/dropoff. The website required me to pay for 3 days, and ABC self storage changed it to 2 days, since I had the trailer for less than 48 hours.
