Location was easy to get to and parking of UHaul vehicles was straightforward. It's a gas station so great opportunity to refuel here also. Staff was friendly upon returning the key.

When I arrived my reservation said I had to check in on my phone which took me through a tedious process that could have been done the night before. Then when I finished everything I was on a wait screen for about 10 minutes and finally once I found an employee was told I had to check in inside where they asked me for the same information that the app asked me. This needs to be clearer because there was much time wasted thinking I could just use the app like the reservation said I could and actually had to. There was garbage left in the vehicle and it was given to us with low air in a tire. When we alerted the employees they told us “to put air in it”. Upon returning the vehicle I parked and went in to give the keys and he told me to park it somewhere else. When I alerted him that there were cones he told me to just move them-thus he had wanted me to get out, move the cones and get back in to drive through them. Once I moved the cones and began to drive into the area another employee came back out and moved them back to their original spot as I was pulling the vehicle in. The customer service here was very poor and I will not be using this location again.

There was no one there to help me get the vehicle and the vehicle I requested was not available. I had to wait an hour and a half at the location before I was able to get access to a vehicle. I will never use this location again and I am shocked and disappointed in U-Haul.

Location gave away my truck. Person behind counter nasty, rude & didn't want to help or get me another car. Their boss was gone for a whole hour. I waited 1 hour to get another car. People are not racial sensitive and no consideration to the customer

Terrible experience dropping off the U haul. The attendant didn't speak English and he made me park it in a specific way with lots of traffic around. When I got there to pick it up, no U Haul employees were wearing masks at all. Additionally, I went to another location before this because I had reserved a 10' Truck but no such truck was available even though I had reserved it two weeks before.

The day before I was planned to pickup the U-Haul the pickup location was changed. It was a 15 mile longer pickup to and from where I needed to go, with an additional 2 hour travel time. When I called to ask why it had changed and if at all possible to pickup from the original requested location, the answer was an unhelpful no. In NYC, most people's means of travel is the subway. Traveling to the Chelsea location from the middle of Brooklyn- not awful. Traveling to the Harlem location from the middle of Brooklyn- unreasonably long. When we finally made it to East Harlem, the guy at the counter was rude, unhelpful, and took over 20 minutes to check us in. I've been a customer of U-Haul for over a decade, but I would rather cancel my reservation altogether than go back to East Harlem.

When I went to pick up my truck they sent me to another location because their system was down. The other location could not help me because my reservation was not originally there which that was understandable. I was extremely frustrated that the men at the first location on 117th and 1st sent me there so when I finally went back to the first location they took a whole extra hour to fix their computers and allow me to take my rental. I was suppose to rent it at 1 I didn't leave a my rental until 2. Now when I looked inside the truck is was dirty and I asked the guy and he said he had nothing to do with uhual. The next day I go to return my truck and I asked the guy is there anything else I had to do and he said no I can just leave. I thought I was suppose to get an receipt but he said no. A couple hours after I returned the truck I checked my app and it said it was still in use and that made me so angry because the guy was suppose to Input i had returned the truck and give me a receipt back. I would never go again to this location. Horrible experience all around.

Awful experience, we weren't able to check in and drive our truck off the lot until TWO HOURS LATER because the uhaul employee was LATE FOR THEIR SHIFT, and then when they did arrive they were further delayed because they said the lost access to the internet. If that wasn't bad enough the customer experience was rude and they were totally unwilling to offer us anything in order to remediate the situation. We ended up paying so much more money for our hourly movers because of Uhaul. I will never rent a truck from this location again and I would never encourage someone to rent from it either.

The right rear view mirror was broken and not present - the left was relaxed and fixed so it wasn't usable (as in line of sight was the van and not the rear). The van was in poor condition but worked. Guess this is what you get at a gas station in Harlem. The van needs working mirrors for proper safety.

As a rule of thumb, the serivce was probably decent due to my reservation being on an off-peak day and time (Monday morning). I arrived at the location at 9 am as soon as it was opened so that I wouldnt have to wait in line--- the reservations are processed by the mechanic and shop owner so they have no direct relation with UHAUL. Thus, if you have any detailed questions or issues, thayre are short staffed, and not equipped---That being said, they were professional and helpful and the truck was tidy and clean--- However, during these COVID and heightened pandemic times, I had to ask for some disinfectant to clean surfaces myself. PPE could be improved as health safety precaution.

Unacceptable refusal to service my pick up because the cashier in that day was not properly trained on how to use the UHaul system. Spent 2.5 hours in this gas station before I could get the keys to my already assigned UHaul van, PLUS I was told I could no longer take the van one-way so I would have to PAY MORE to drive the van back into the city and return it after my move! See details below: I made a reservation to pick up a UHaul from Jersey City 3 weeks prior to desired date. I then had to switch to this East Harlem location the night before I was set to pick up my U-Haul because U-Haul had switched my chosen Jersey City pick-up location to Montville, NJ the day before and Montville was far and inaccessible for me. I arrived at this 1st ave 117th st. location for a 9 am pick up on a Sunday, where I used the UHaul app to get my assigned van, which was in the lot. But when I went into the gas station to pick up the key I was promptly told that I could not access my van that day because the person who normally works the U-Haul system wasn't in. After giving the computer system a quick try, the cashier who was in told me 'the system is not working' and refused any access to my van. He sent me to another UHaul location, but since all vans/trucks in the city were already reserved on this busy Sunday, there was nothing any other UHaul could do for me. I returned to this location an hour later to insist access to my van, at which point the cashier finally called the manager to come into the store. I took the manager an hour to arrive, during which 4 UHaul customers were waiting, one of which successfully got their van by finally getting a UHaul rep on the phone after being on hold for 45 mins and having that rep walk the cashier through the process. The rest of us weren't able to get reps on the phone, and we had to wait for the manager to arrive at 11:30. We had arrived for 9 am pick up! Delayed our entire move and made the day extremely stressful.

The mileage was not displayed on the dashboard. I had an odd check in. The workers checked the gas tank and said it's fine. Then I was charged an exorbitant amount for gas & miles that I did not drive. How is going from harlem to greenpoint brooklyn and back to harlem, 50 miles??!!!? The kicker is because the mileage would not display on the dashboard. Unethical!

Reserved my vehicle through mobile site for 12pm pick up. Arrived at 11:55 because associate at the counter did not know how to work computer it took 40 minutes to get vehicle. When I finally got vehicle the cabin was dusty and dirty and check engine light was on in vehicle.

When I arrived and tried to get my van, they said their system was down and I should go somewhere to rent a vehicle. I had checked the other nearby locations the previous day, and they were scheduled to be closed, because it was Sunday (I also tried to call and received no answer). When I tried to check the van out using my phone, the people wouldn't give me the wifi code, so I couldn't get online. Finally an employee let me borrow his phone to check out the equipment, (a suggestion form the national UHaul customer service rep). when I returned it, they checked the odometer and gas level, but never did anything to actually check the equipment in. When I got home I called national UHaul customer service, and they still had the equipment with status "OUT/not returned on time", even though I had returned it over an hour before, ON TIME.

The truck had tons of water leaking from the inside. On the passenger side the bottom on the seat was a storage area that have tons of Bubbles & water. Some of the furniture I was bringing over to my place and UNFORTUNATELY, some of it ended up being wet due to the truck having water inside. This is my second time using U-Haul I look forward to renting with U-Haul in the future, I would not be pleased to run into this situation again. Thank you

First be on time. Second have the equipment requested by the customer. Wash the trucks. Don't charge the customer for something they didn't receive.i.e. Mat charge of $1.00. Didn't receive the mat and was told this would not be charged.The Manager is not customer sensitive. My mistake was going to this location.There are not friendly.

I rented a 9' foot van. It was fine, although the back was a little dirty. Not too bad, but noticeable. The cashier at the service station handled the rental. He was nice, but it took a while for him to enter the information, even though I had made the reservation on-line. Handling the other customers at the store was part of the issue. It would be better if I did not have to be there that long. I wanted to rent a small hand truck, but the was not one there. Only a large one, which was too big for my needs. They had one dolly, which I rented. I would have purchased some boxes, but there were none in stock. This location is fine for just renting a truck, but not as good if you need supplies too.

My preferred locations was switched to another place for my requested 5:30 pick up. However, this place closed at 4:00pm. So, not sure how this happened? I had to go through some hops and stress to get this truck after explaining that this was a confirmed reservation. The guy basically told me that today was my lucky day because he was just leaving for the day...

We reserved a 10 foot truck. It was blocked in and the service rep chatted with the guy in his car for 5 minutes before they finally moved for us to access the truck. The reservation included 1 dolly and 1 hand truck and they were out so they sent us to another location (on 117th) which was also out. We ended up having to find a dolly and hand truck from another company to accommodate us. The truck was dirty. When we needed an extension in time, I called several times and no one picked up. We will never use this location again and are warning others never to use them.

Took over an hour and a half for the employee to process my reservation on the computer. This was truly one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had in my entire life.

The location and time of my pickup was changed less than 24 hours before I was supposed to pick it up. The time of my reservation was also changed for 7 hours later than I needed to pick it up. I made this reservation a full month in advance, there should NOT have been these kinds of surprises. After calling many local associates it was ultimately ME who had to suggest the associates to look other places in my vicinity to find a similar truck that would be available at a time similar to my original reservation. That is something that should be AUTOMATICALLY asked to a customer. I felt that they did not want to put in the extra effort to ensure that my experience would not be compromised because of poor management of truck availability. In the end getting my truck was a seamless operation albeit stressful beforehand. The truck had visibly not been cleaned whatsoever when I picked it up - previous persons food waste littered about the dash / console.

Personnel would not accept my equipment even though I was told by the original return location to go to this one. They were very rude and would not help. It was storming outside and I had to call Uhaul to resolve this issue. After finally returning the equipment, the personnel at this location did not mark it as being returned and I therefore received multiple calls stating the equipment was not returned.

I reserved pads and a dolly and they were not available at the location. I have paid previously and didn't receive a refund, even though I have requested at the pick-up location and later by email after returning the truck. And I am still waiting for a solution on that.

NOTICE: No equipment at this location! There was no indication of this when i rented so when I saw a mysterious refund on my contract, i asked about it and in response was directed to the Bronx "if I wanted to" rent the equipment. Turns out this location does not have equipment so they make you drive elsewhere to get it. In Manhattan this is an absurd practice because you NEVER pick up a vehicle early, and certainly never a truck, because there is nowhere to park. In other words, you can not pick up the truck early enough to handle a surprise detour because of you go anywhere else, you will run out of time. In that case you are, effectively, screwed.

Worst experience I've ever had renting or buying anything from any vendor. Originally I registered to rent a truck from one location, the email confirmation I received gave me a different location. Then I called customer service, which was useless and could only give me another number to call, (915) 315-2399, which was supposed to lead to a scheduling department. That call went nowhere, just rang without answer after multiple attempts. Then I updated the reservation online, received confirmation once again, only to get to the desired location to find out the update did not register. At this point I'm now two hours late for the scheduled apartment move in time, finding out that I have to go across town in rush hour traffic to hopefully pick up the truck. I call that location to confirm the truck is in fact there and reserved in my name. The person I spoke with told me to call back in 20 minutes because he didn't know where the service manager was at the moment. Then my girlfriend spends 30 minutes on the phone with customer service to ensure that the UHaul location doesn't close and that I'll still be able to pick up the keys and the truck, all while I frantically go through the online check in process to avoid missing the reservation. I sincerely hope I never have to use a UHaul authorized dealer/location ever again.

The truck was fine, but I was overcharged because the location managers put a wrong return date. I emailed and didn't get a response; I called to create a case request and it was lost (the representative wasn't able to find it when I called again), the representative who answered my follow up call hang up on me half way through the call. U haul made an error and doesn't want to correct it. Pretty bad experience.
