1) Pre approve the emergency contact. Sometimes the person may not be available real time when they are working. 2) The app and the mobile link were not working for at least 30 minutes after I was at site to return vehicle.

Location is cheating people. We turned the truck the same day in about 4 hours. When I asked for a receipt I was told that I will get it in an hour, but it did not come in until 2 days later and the returned date was today's and charges me for 2 days of rental instead of 1. And when I called back, they were giving me a run around. Had to resolve the dispute by calling customer service directly

Customer service, the guy taking care of me at pick up had me wait until he was finished with another person when I had rented my rental van for 1230 I didn't get the car until almost 1pm. Very unprofessional. Then I had to wait for the guy to put air in the tires everything should've been ready upon pick up I had to wait and it cut into my time. I would not recommend this location.

I was told I would receive a $50 convenience payment because of complications with my rental on August 19. After almost two weeks, no $50 arrived. I called U-Haul today and the representative I spoke with said there was no note on my account about the $50. So I was lied to. I called U-Haul today to resolve this issue. I was told I will be contacted within 72 hours.

This location is advertised as a 24/7 mobile pickup but the keys are kept inside at a gas station. Although advertised as 24/7, the person to provide the keys only works from 6am -6pm. I had booked for a 9pm pickup time and when I arrived to pick up the truck, I was told I would have to return at another time. This is false advertising. The people operating the location were good and friendly, the problem is the misleading availability.

Review third party U-Haul locations to make sure their up to U-Hauls company standards. I had the worst experience at the 117 east Harlem shell location. The owner almost got into a physical confrontation with me. I'm extremely unsatisfied and will never use service again.

The manager was a complete asshole. He also didn't have the vehicle I requested, and I ended up being charged more for a truck. It took 30 minutes just to leave because there was a car doubled parked in front of the truck they decided to give me, and some idiot couldn't figure out which car key to use to move the car. Fucking disaster. I demand a refund.

The left head light was out, it took forever for them to give me a truck when I reserved one for 3pm and didn't get it until close to 4pm. I had to speak with a uhaul representative about this! It was totally annoying on top of me being pressed for time to move from one apartment to another

I came late 4-15pm( my time reservation 3-00) to pickup van at 2276 1 ave . new york, ask where to pickup door was closed and inside show me -We closed,I started nerves and only one man inside Deli store (my thank you him i did asked his name) using cell phone call to u-haul and help me to fill my reservation

Battery was faulty and died while I was moving my things. Customer service said they would send a tow truck to bring the truck back to drop off location but this did not happen because “it's against protocol” according to uhaul roadside assistance. This made me wait an additional 2 hours before being able to drop off the truck and then I got charged after hour service fee for not filling the whole tank up when I most definitely did. I paid $46.20 in gas at $3.60 per gallon over 12 gallons of gas for the 99 miles I drove. Even if the 10 ft truck only did 10 MPG I would of overfilled the tank by 20 gallons. So ways of improvement: * Make sure battery is not faulty before giving to customer. * customer service should be aware of Road side assistance protocol and not promise what they can't do. * not lie about how much is left in the tank * not charge someone after hour fee if they were given a faulty battery which causes them to arrive after hours

I requested mobile pick-up and I could not access my truck, because it was blocked off by another van in front. I was asked to move the van in front, which at that point I didn't care because I needed my truck, but then I couldn't open the door to my truck because the trucks were so packed together. Finally got my truck at 8am when the pickup was scheduled for 4am. I didn't receive all of the rental equipment I requested; I only got a utility dolly when I ordered also a furniture dolly and furniture pads. There was a condom wrapper in the cargo bed… it was just not a good experience for what would have been a seamless move. Whoever is coordinating the pickups needs to make sure that the truck(s) is ready for their customers. Either that, or please make your location counter pickup only. Moving is stressful enough without the people setting up your truck not knowing what's going on and not providing all equipment.

The customer service was not great. The worker was so oblivious to what I was saying regarding my reservation. I wasn't told the contract was emailed and payment. The van was dirty with a basket in the back. No one checked the vehicle.

The person who is renting is very rude. He said he is going to report the police if I am going to extend the van. However there was no problem when I extended the van through uhaul customer service. The person who is receiving the key did not check anything and I asked him dont you need to check the van and he said no im eating just go.

Please make sure the trucks are properly parked and access isn't blocked. We had to move several trucks to access the one we had booked and this took about an hour for us to figure out. We were able to do so only with the help of the uHaul agent on line who kindly instructed us where to get the keys from and how to proceed.

I spent over 2 hours at the location trying to get my rental. No-one seemed to know their job and people are rude. While I was waiting others came in trying to get their rental and those were too were a mess or nonexistent. People were loitering inside and outside of store begging for money because they spent too much on scratch off tickets. I have used U-Haul before and have had a great experience. This location should have there affiliation with U-Haul revoked. Under all circumstances stay away from here

Don't charge for overtime when the customer returns the car on time. And don't charge for insurance when the customer has not order insurance.

I reserved the uhaul at one location for 8 am and they weren't open so I had to go to another location. Once I was in the uhaul, the windshield wipers weren't working so they had to bring it into the service bay to fix it. Terrible experience.

Arrived at facility: 1)computers were down,waited 30min 2) truck was extremely dirty in back. No other trucks available. Waited for it to be clean 3) fuel tank on “E” employee says “no problem just bring it back on E” 4) drove 17.6 miles, put $20 of gas . On receipt, was stil charged for additional fuel. I have photos for all please contact me and reimburse me.

I couldn't inspect the vehicle because it was so tightly parked. Getting the equipment was difficult also because i had to leave the truck to go inside and get it. Customer service wasn't great inside, not overly friendly, he gave me the wrong Dolly. I am also extremely upset that i was charged over $100 more than the quoted amount, when the truck was returned within 24 hours with the exact same amount of gas

Truck was very dirty where passengers sit. No one really wanted to help. I wasn't given the equipment I asked for but was charged. The truck had problem safety features for the equipment I never received that should have held them in place but would not be able - if I received the equipment. I haven't seen a reduction to my bill yet but was promised a reduction for materials I paid for but didn't receive.

I reserved the u-haul for self-pickup at 6 am. When I arrived the guys at the Shell gas station told me that the man with the keys to the truck would not be in until 8:30. I was not able to use the u-haul adversely affecting my move.

This location is horrible with bad costumer service!!!!!. I called in the morning of my pick up to see if the person to give me the keys of the truck would be there I was told yes. I go and even though I originally had a self pick up I still asked!. I get to the location and the shell cashier which was a man told me no the person that handles that for uhaul isn't there and I couldn't get my truck. I was upset because I had already done the reservation and paid for it he sends me to a u-rent down the block I go and it's closed I go back to the shell call a uhaul representative they walked me on how to do the self check in and once I do that it tells me that the keys are with the cashier!!!!! Which was the man in the shell gas station I go back in tell him to give me the keys he said no it's not there that I can't get the truck I start yelling because I needed to move and had everything packed and everyone waiting for me . He calls his boss on the phone and the boss then tells him the keys are there to give it to me!!. I wasted a whole hour!!! Trying to get the truck and the whole time it was there I told them that they have to work on their costumer service. If they are providing a service they should be a whole lot helpful and listen to the costumer. It's a horrible place I wouldn't pick anything up there and I was told that I was not the first person to complain about this site! Don't waste your time and energy!! And when I went inside of there truck there was a cup in there the dash board messed up and smelled like cigarettes. I should have gotten a discount after dealing with that man!

This is not a reflection on the drop off location staff or building. Rather a comment on Uhaul's practices. I had reserved the truck with return location at 23rd street. I confirmed this the 2nd day on a phone call with Uhaul. Then, I was later instructed to take the track back to 117th Street. When I called to request 23rd instead because we were in lower Manhattan, I was rudely told that was not possible, that they had no space (even though I had agreed the day before to return the truck early in response to an email from Uhaul that it was short on equipment and could I do so). When I explained I did not want to take the truck all the way North to Harlem as there was no easy way back to lower Manhattan, I was rudely informed that 117th street is the upper east side. I grew up in NYC, and 117th street is never referred to as the upper east side. Uhaul needs to figure out how to honor the agreed upon drop off locations made at the time of reservation. If Uhaul needs to reposition equipment to do so, then it should. Fees are high enough as it is.

This is the worse service I've EVER received! U-haul needs to have actually employees of the company working there. Instead of the Shell employees managing the rentals. They don't have the answer to anything. I'm now over charged for 1 reservation TWICE!!!! And I brought the equipment and truck back on time! I'm trying to avoid going back because I WILL be making a scene! Unacceptable!
