If order line partial ships, it would be nice to get notice that something has been back ordered and provide estimated new ship date.

Are the 60# tanks vacuum purged as delivered?

–Bert 11/8/2013 3:34:57 PM

All propane tanks U-Haul sells with an OPD (Overfill Protection Device) valve are pre-purged. This means we do not have to extract any air from the propane tank to fill it with propane. This includes OPD425, OPD11, OPDGAG (20 lb tank), OPD 30 and OPD 40. All propane tanks that do not have an OPD valve must be purged before filling. This includes TK435, TK60, TK100, and TK33(forklift tank). U-Haul charges $4.95 to purge a new tank.

Can i use the 60lb upright steel propane tank to run my house kitchen stove

–hannah 2/7/2014 1:35:46 PM

The UHaul propane program manager writes: "We always need to make sure that the stove you have is a propane stove. Second, we do not ever want a 60lb tank inside a home."

–Ronald 2/7/2014 2:12:52 PM

Can you run a barbeque grill on a #40 tank?

–Jim 9/27/2014 2:04:09 PM

Our propane program manager writes: "We would always suggest following the barbeque manufacturers tank recommendations which in most cases, calls for the use of a 20lb tank."

–Ronald 9/29/2014 9:07:38 AM

Can this tank be filled at a local Uhaul Propane fill station?

–Anthony 12/27/2014 7:36:48 PM

Our propane program manager writes ... "Yes! Most steel tanks can be filled at any of our conveniently located U-Haul Center locations."

Do the 60 lbs. tanks have an OPD valve. I need a tank without one.

–Steve 3/17/2015 9:37:00 AM

Steve, this 60 lbs steel propane tank does not have an OPD valve. Thanks!

Can I use a 60 lbs steel propane tank you sell on my food truck

–william 8/24/2015 7:46:55 AM

Hey William, it's hard for me to say without seeing your food truck, but I know that the TK60 propane tank has worked in other food trucks.

That being said, always make sure to check your local food truck laws and safety regulations so that you know you are both legal and safe before transporting a propane tank in your food truck!

–Joseph 8/25/2015 9:23:45 AM

What is the tank weight of a 40 and 60 lbs tank empty?

–Wade 10/11/2017 1:03:37 PM

Hello, Wade! The empty Steel Propane Tank (60 lbs.) weighs 54.20 pounds. The empty Steel Propane Tank (40 lbs.) weighs 33.80 pounds. I hope that is helpful!

–Savannah 10/11/2017 1:49:52 PM

Hi could u tell me weight of a full 100lb tank and also a full 60lb tank. Thank you

–Anthony 11/10/2017 11:36:14 PM

Hello, Anthony! Since the TW (tare weight) is different on all cylinders, we cannot tell the exact weight of a full cylinder. A 100 pound propane cylinder will hold 100 pounds of propane plus the tare weight. A 60 pound propane cylinder will hold 60 pounds of propane plus the tare weight. I hope that is helpful!

–Savannah 11/17/2017 2:22:12 PM

How many gallons does each contain?

–Libby 5/29/2018 4:34:09 PM

Hi, Libby! The 60-pound steel propane tank has a capacity of about 14.2 gallons. Please note that the tank does not come with propane but will need to be taken to a U-Haul Propane Center nearest you to be filled with propane. I hope that is helpful!
