I set up a reservation with additions (furniture pads, dolly, tape) and was told I did not add these items when I had the confirmation in my hand. The price was double what I signed up for online (for the same exact items and didn't even get the furniture pads nor the dolly). Also was never told there was a late fee …. Worst experience

The point of sale machines at the Redwood City, location needs networking help. It took more than 20 minute for staff member to complete the paper work to pick my scheduled trailer pickup. Everything was fine.

1. The price for CDW is excessive for a day rental. It ought to be about $10 for the day. 2. The moving blanket I purchased for about $20 was of poor quality; not the normal moving blanket I am familiar with. The outer "fabric" tore upon initial use. (can't even really call it a fabric; more like thin plastic?). 3. I had to clean the interior of the front windows as they were so hazy that it affected visibility significantly. 4. Glad I wasn't moving things very far; the cost per mile is too high. Otherwise, it did the job.

I reserved my space online. When I arrived to look at the unit before moving items, the code I was emailed didn't work. I went into the office to speak with the rep at the counter and let him know my situation. He didn't say much but handed me a card to gain access and how to use it. I was able to get in. I was aware my unit was on the second floor, but there was no elevator. When I opened my unit, trash from the previous tenant and the top was chain link fence (not a solid ceiling) with trash on top of it. This wouldn't work for me. I went back to the office and explained I could't use a unit upstairs without an elevator. There was space on the ground floor however it was more expensive. Based on the condition of the upstairs unit, I decided this wasn't the facility for me. I thanked the gentleman and he canceled my unit. I now know why the space was so inexpensive.

I was grossly overcharged for gasoline. I drove 20 miles and I added 1.5 gallons and was charge for an additional 2 gallons at $6.00 per gallon plus a $30 gas service fee. I would like a review and refund

Hitch was not compatible with my car, even though I used the website to find the right model. The person who installed the hitch did not show up on the day of my reservation. He showed up late the next day during my rescheduled time. After completing the installation, the car made a very loud noise due to the incompatible parts. He and other employees expected me to fix the problem myself. I had to drive to an auto parts store to purchase additional materials and drove back to the uhaul center and ask him to fix it, which he did. He did a good job fixing it, but it is a hacked together solution and should not have taken this much convincing. The parts are simply not compatible, which is a design flaw in uhauls hitch system. The missed and then late reservation times are very unprofessional. Uhaul is a company that people rely on during moves, when time is of the essence. This could have derailed my move if I had waited any longer to schedule an appointment and not insisted that the hitch be fixed after installation.

I rented a car trailer 1/25/2024 for 68.37 per day and needed it 3 days. I returned it yesterday at 8:15 to find Sunday's hours of operation opened at 9:00AM so I waited. The office employee walked across the parking lot at 9:25 being 25 minutes late and had a very strong odor of marijuana all around him. No explanation was offered to myself or the others who had been waiting outside. I was present prior to 9:00AM to return the trailer. Today I have excessive charges on my VIsa card. Three days times 68.37 totals $205.13 What possible explantion is there total charges of 596.88 minus 205.13 = 391.75 ? Please correct this mess right away or I will contact Consumer Affairs.

I rented a van without a rearview mirror and without the dolly I had reserved. I had to move all the boxes manually and without the dolly on Sunday night because the store was closed, and there was no one around. Additionally, I tried calling customer service, and they put me on hold for more than 10 minutes. Consequently, I wasn't willing to wait so long after they had made that mistake to provide a solution with the stores closed. The next day, when the store was open, I went to complain with the van already loaded. The only solution offered was to give me the dolly that morning and then, after unloading, exchange the van, which would cost me extra miles and time from my rental. It has been a horrible experience due to the danger of driving without a rearview mirror, the extra time wasted during the vehicle exchange, and the additional time spent on moving without the dolly I had previously rented. Furthermore, I purchased a mattress cover on the same day when they changed the van, and I had to pay for it afterward. I've had a terrible experience, and I won't rent with U-Haul ever again.

The unit rented out to me had many issues that wasted my entire day off yielding minor productivity. Firstly the keys given out with the wrong key to the rear door lock. The local U-Haul never answered any of the multiple calls which transferred over to the nation answering service. The operators on the national service, while sympathetic, only transferred me to Roadside Service that did not answer when transferred over. Our storage unit is four block from the rental facility we had loaded up and drove 92 mile to our new house. So we ended up deciding to drive back to the rental facility, while my wife called them and they finally answered. We explained the situation and they said they would handle it. Upon arrival no one was available to help as only a new employee on her third day on the job was there alone. After 30 to 45 minutes another employee came in and proceeded to cut off the lock and replaced with a new lock. We drove back home and unloaded the truck. Then we drove back to the rental facility to drop off the unit. On the way the transmission on the unit failed and the check engine light came on. Essentially we drove double the mileage and made only one of two trips with our belongings. This is the one day I had off work until February 3. This means I have to pay another month of rent, while all the while this could concluded in one day! Thank You U-Haul, NOT!

I see the reason why this location gets bad reviews. Girl up front had zero personality and was texting on her phone for most of the time while I was getting the paperwork done. No she was not using it to do anything for the rental. The guy that got the trailer was so weird and had a huge hole in his pants right in his crotch area. Huge hole. My girlfriend couldn't even look at him scared she'd see something.

It took 45 minutes + to pick up a vehicle I had reserved over a week prior. They could not find my reservation and it took several associates to process the rental. Then the vehicle was blocked by another and I had to go back inside and ask someone to move it. The vehicle I was assigned clearly needed maintenance, the transmission made strange noises when shifting and the wheel well was dented causing the tire to rub when turning. I picked up my reservation on Thursday and received a call on Sunday morning asking where the vehicle was and that it was supposed to be returned on Saturday evening. Why did they not call on Saturday? The rental was supposed to be until Monday evening why did they not have the correct information even though my email confirmation had the correct information. There was a great deal of frustration around the entire process. This was not the first Uhaul rental I've done but the first at this location. I will not be utilizing this location in the future and possibly not Uhaul at all. I don't blame the associates for not knowing how to do things, I blame management for poor training on systems for the frustrations I had to endure.

My rental experience was terrible. There were numerous customers at the location and not enough staff. The staff who were there were running back and forth aimlessly, and it was hard to get anyone's attention. I booked a van using self-service. At pickup, the app, which is extremely clunky, crashed multiple times. When the staff tried to help me, they could not find the key for the vehicle I booked. Everything was comically disorganized. Fortunately, they gave me another vehicle, which was not updated in the system and did not match what was in the app. The process took more than an hour, and returning the vehicle was equally as bad. The U-Haul customer experience is absolutely horrible.

The staff at the Redwood City store have been outstanding. After a couple of visits to the Mountain View store, I realized that they might be exceptional, but perhaps MV is just understaffed. The place was well-lit, but not the unit. I found rat feces on my stuff when I emptied the unit, but no damage worth mention. Again, kudos+ to the RWC staff!

I reserved and confirmed a medium storage unit the day before and on the day of my move in. After check in, it turns out the storage unit is still locked. The attendant told me to come back in a few days which is not feasible for me since I am coming out of state. I had to rush to the closest storage unit at Belmont, CA and have to store my things there instead

horrible experience. I found a dead rat in my storage unit and a month later someone broke into my unit and stole all my belongings. I had never had a storage unit before. Several friends who have rented storage units (elsewhere!) had mentioned to me that the properties were sketchy or located in outright dangerous neighborhoods ... or were dirty orhad leaks or a stench ... or getting in and out was a hassle ... or some combination of these factors. Then another friend told me that Redwood City often has problems with rats. I'm pointing these things out to you so that you understand the bad conditions I expected. However, this Redwood City U-Haul storage facility was much closer to my most optimistic wishes than to my low-bar expectations. Every time I visited, the place was clean and easy to access. I always felt I was safe here and that my belongings would remain secure after I left. I was impressed that staff members were only one room away (as long as I visited during regular business hours) if I had questions. On my first visit, a staff member made sure I knew where the bathroom was, which made me feel welcome. During another visit, I had trouble repositioning scaffolding/staircase, and a staff member took notice of my struggle and offered to assist me! I was more than happy with my experience here. Thank you to your wonderful staff!

The poor rating has nothing to do with the facility. It was great. You earned this rating by not honoring my 30 day vacate notice. You tried to charge me for another month, and your site mgr., (Mr. Lopez) I think, didn't respond to any of the 4 email replies I sent him and also copied U-Haul, referencing my vacating the site. He only attempted a text communication after he realized you were sending this questionnaire to me. I have been so upset, I couldn't reply till now. I hope this is a one-off, as I hadn't experienced anything like this with U-Haul before. I highly recommend using U-Haul storage facilities. There are many pluses and some negatives. On the plus side it is not expensive, conveniently located, lots of space for the price and accessible 24/7, the one-month free feature is a great bonus. On the negative side the height of each space could be higher, there are no elevators if you are on the 2nd floor.

The hours posted online are not what there practicing. The access codes for doors don't work the access cards your given don't work on doors .the security system is below par. When you here or see u-haul logo you think American, Professional,Secure. This (Redwood City) site has failed.

The one drawback was that my unit required a metal staircase to be positioned in front of the unit. It was a bit tricky to get in and out.

Like with everything else involved on Uhauls side of my move, things were not at all what was requested. I requested and reserved a certain sized storage unit. When I arrived , I was told it wasn't available, but I could have a 4x4 unit. I explained thay I had a one bed apt full of goods, and needed the bigger unit that was promised me. I was then given an 8x8(?) Unit that was still too small for my belongings. I had to get an additional 4x4 unit. Now I'm stuck with 2 payments a month. Uhaul has played bait and switch with me this entire move. From the first truck and trailer that was switched out and too small, to the storage. Also, the movers that uhaul listed ended up tearing my mattress when they forced it into the storage unit, then scratched up my dining chairs.

Reserved a bottom floor unit, and the website showed me that there was one available. Got to the store to see the unit and had to wait a really long time for someone to even come to the counter, then was told that there were no more bottom floor units. I had just moved here so I didn’t really have time to look for another storage unit on the spot ( which was probably a huge mistake) and decided that this would have to do. I had auto-pay set up, and even got emailed receipts, and after having just paid rent, I got a notice that our rent had not been paid and was told our unit’s lock had been removed and a notice placed there as well. I had to go to the store and show the email to have that taken care of, only to find out they had lost my original lock, so I had to get another one. When we finally got a new unit somewhere else, I noticed that there were water marks on some of our things that weren’t there before, so something had to have leaked or sprayed onto our things. I’m glad we were able to have at least some kind of storage for the time being, and for what it’s worth, it was secure and nothing was stolen or damaged. The employees, when there is one available, are very friendly. Not super happy but it wasn’t the worst possible experience.

The instructions were great, and staff was friendly. The unit was clean enough, but we did have to pick up dinner trash and hammer down a few staples that were dangerously sticking out. The most important part was that our unit did not measure 8' by 6' which was absolutely surprising. It was 7.5' by 5.25' which made a huge difference for us. We packed up an 8x6 area at home to figure it out, and when we showed up, the unit was noticeably smaller than advertised! Why can't you just list the true interior dimensions of your units??

Hey there. Please give me a call when you get a moment. My rep Jailin was doing her best but she was ill, sneezing (yipes with Covid), and exhausted when she helped me this afternoon. I was promised an 8x8 unit and rolled in with a moving van and auto transporter, 1 way reservation. I had to get the car off myself, outside the lot because it was so hectic and understaffed inside the gates. And in the end... (cue the sad muzak), the storage unit I was promised was double booked. I drove for 2 days, had follow up calls confirming the unit was available just to find out I couldn't store my stuff at this location once I arrived. I'm going to use the remaining days of the use of the moving van but am very nervous about what comes after that. Please, if you would, call me so we can discuss my plan B for where to store my belongings if I run out of time. P.S. I know covid has wreaked havoc on communication and software systems and therefore not everyone has the best and latest information, but it had a severe negative effect on me during a major move in my life. Let's please work something out ASAP.
