The previous U-Haul location employees were very unkind and cold toward us, despite the error not being our fault. This young man had such patience and was able to help us with getting the equipment. To the manager of this employee, hold onto him!!! He deserves recognition for his customer service and support. If I lived locally, I would recommend this location phenomenally.
Jordan BEric is truly an asset to the company. This was my 2nd hitch install, performed by him. He went this time above and beyond to find a solution to an unexpected problem. On the end the installation was a success. Next to his amazing creativity and professionality, it's always fun to work with and to talk to him. Uhaul is blessed to have this employee. If there is a raise for him considered, I assure he well deserved it.

Ventura SWhen i told the (very friendly) guy that I really wanted to return this in Redding but they wouldn't let me b/c someone had reserved it at this location, he rolled his eyes. He said he has more trailers than he knows what to do with, that he gets four returns for every one that goes out, and that he needed to talk to corporate to stop sending him trailers. So....someone was feeding me a line...
Jim BI ordered 12 blankets and was given a vacuum packed bag which did NOT indicate the number of blankets. Upon returning home, we found it contained just 6. This comment is not against the pickup location/worker but a recommendation to U-Haul to put the contents number on the label.

PAUL MEverything was great however in the online itinerary it states the return date was today Saturday but no return time. So I thought I had all day to return the truck but since I returned it past the time which was only indicated on the paper contract and not the online contract I was charged 40$ for 45 minutes extra. I’ll call tomorrow and hope to have it resolved but if it want for that small detail this would be a 10/10

Mark TMaybe not charge a 25.00 cleaning fee when it's pouring rain out, I brought it back completely swept out but it was raining hard all day and the only thing showing is rain water, I have photos and would really like for someone to see them, times are hard for most people these days so to have this happen is just wrong on all levels

norma b1. I was unable to communicate by phone directly with the Red Bluff store. My appointment was made then changed to 02/03/2024 @ 12:00 p.m. 2. When I arrived for my appointment after driving 48 miles, everyone went to lunch for an hour and there was no waiting area. Other customers, 3 or 4, were in disbelief of the lack of attention provided by the two employees working the front desk. At 1:30 p.m. I borrowed a chair and sat in a corner near the front door and read my book for almost two hours. 3. The hitch installer was "outstanding". He was extremely professional, completed the instillation efficiently and showed me operational procedures. 4. I would be pleased to discuss my critique with the store manager if they are truthfully looking to improve their service.

Casey PI had the unit for 3-4 months and am currently using the U-Haul shipping containers to move the stuff. So far, I’ve been extremely pleased with U-Haul every step. The units are clean and set up nicely. It felt very secure. I never worried at all.

Actually having staff to talk to when you walk into the business without waiting in an empty lobby would be an improvement. When I was closing out my storage unit, I walked into the store and was greeted by empty silence. I waited 5 minutes before an employee entered the store. This could certainly be improved. This is not the first time I have had this same experience at this store. I hesitate to say every time I have gone to this store I have had the same experience, but it had happened frequently.

Cecilia CI dropped the trailer off at this location. I was greeted promptly and was told someone would be helping me shortly. The rep that helped me was very helpful and polite. I won’t recommend this place as long as I could deal with them and not have to deal with the corporate reservation system. Total disaster and disappointment. U haul can take the reservation but can’t promise you the equipment will actually be there when after you make the reservation. Horrible system. My trailer rental was fine but it was only one piece of equipment I had reserved. I was not able to get the truck I needed the most. After 3 attempts I lost all respect for the company. This fiasco cost me being able to get my furniture moved on time. It also cost me extra money as I had to move part of my furniture and now I have to schedule another 1000 mile trip to move the rest of my furniture. I will make sure that everyone knows what happened to me. I will make sure everyone is aware that even though you make a reservation the equipment is not guaranteed to be available when you need it. Total failure.

Anthony PBoth guys I saw on my visit were very helpful with my rental. One in particular (manager or assistant manager, I think) was very helpful with the paperwork for my first-month free storage unit.

Any service on the phones suck. And I wasn’t sure when I was in and get there to pick my stuff up. I picked everything up the 25th. It was after 6 o’clock. Nobody is in the office. I tried calling to check out. Couldn’t get a hold of anybody. So I came back the next day and basically I paid $55 for one day storage. Did you guys the prorated anything. I would never recommend U-Haul to anybody and I would never use U-Haul again.

Vincent G | Overall ExperienceThough pleasant to deal with, the staff was not forthcoming with information needed to access my storage unit. When I entered the unit I was given an access card presumably for the security gate. At that time I was given no instructions for its use. Thinking it should be fairly straight forward I left. When I returned to move items into the unit I approached to #2 gate on the north side of the facility, excited my rented truck and spotted my card at the keypad terminal. It read, 'welcome Steven Becker' and that was it. The gate did not open. I swiped my card about a half dozen times with no luck. I left the gate drove up the hill to the office where I found no employees. Knowing where an employee possibly could be I walked to his location. When I explained the problem he told me, that's because you need a fob. I was not given a fob. We then went back to the office where he gave me a fob for the gates. He explained to me the gate numbers coinciding with the numbers on the buttons on the fob and sent me on my way. I left the office and proceeded back down the hill to gate #2. After waiting the 2 minutes, I was told to use the fob I attempted to open gate #2 with the fob, pressing the #2 button and hearing an audible beep eminate from the keypad terminal. The gate did not open. Thinking I needed to use my access card in conjunction with the fob I did so. This time the terminal read access denied, code unknown. I did this a few more times then left to try gate #1 on the south side of the facility. I passed by the employee who issued me the fob and was asked did it work? I replied no and told him I tried my card. He responded, saying no it won't, now that you have the fob. I said ok, thanks and proceeded to gate #1. At gate #1 I pressed the #1 button on the fob and eureka, it worked. The gate opened. I arrived at my unit and found it was locked with a padlock. I then walked to the office, this time finding an employee helping another customer. I waited my turn and told him if the lock. We left the office, walked back to the unit where he unlocked the padlock. I unloaded my items and left. I attempted gate #2 for my exit thinking perhaps I didn't give the fob time to activate. No luck again. I then excited via gate #1. A couple hours later I returned to unload more items and return the rented truck. After entering gate #1, unloading and securing my unit with my circle lock I attempted gate #2 again for my exit. No luck. I then departed via gate #1 and drove to the return point. When i got to the return point, the employee that issued my fob came out to take possession of the truck. When i told him my fob did not open gate #2 he told me "Yeah, the board in the terminal is broken" we ordered a new one but it was broken too. It's been broken for a month or so and it takes 30 to 40 days to get the new part. This would have been very good information to know when I signed for the unit initially. It would have also been very helpful to know I needed and therefore received a fob for the gates when I signed for the unit. It also would have been helpful to know that I needed to immediately place my own lock on the door of the unit otherwise the facility would place their own to keep it secure until I moved in. To go along with that, I should have been told that had I not immediately place my lock on the door I would need to come into the office prior to attempting access.

This was more than simply answering a question. The conversation went on and on until another employee asked if I had been helped and I told him I was waiting for her. He went and got her, and when she came in, she did not make eye contact with me, just printed out a paper and handed it to me. Her behavior was rude and unprofessional.

Jonah N | Overall Experience**I hope I NEVER need to use U Haul again!!!!** My father passed away and i placed some large, heavy tools and art work in a second story unit right after he passed. My plan was to move these items to my home but i was offered a free month of rental so i took it. When i went to pick up my stuff from storage i discovered 2 things. First, the elevator was broken! Second, i was locked out w a non payment note on my unit - It was one week before the end of the month! I was moving other items and had rented a u haul truck and movers to help, but the elevator was broken. The stairs were at the other end of the bldg. the movers were going to charge an extra $200 to move my items down the stairs. I opted to wait for an elevator. I called a number of times during the next month to check on the elevator. It was broken for at least a month. I finally had to pay someone w a truck to help me move up and down the stairs. I called on monday to check on the elevator, still broken, so imagine my shock when i arrived with my paid helpers on Wednesday and the elevator was working. I had people with me to move who i had to pay since they were there. The Red Bluff staff were nice, and i believe that they were as frustrated as the customers w the elevator situation. however, I did not hear once “I am sorry” “i apologize, “how may we help you?” I did hear “it’s supposed to be fixed soon. “ How can a company the size of U Haul take that long to fix an elevator? Why was I not offered up front compensation? Your broken elevator cost me hundreds of dollars and tons of frustration. I got three phone calls and was locked out twice for non payment during a “free month” of storage. As a customer it is very obvious what the corporation of u haul considers important - money-certainly NOT customers or customer care!

Shortly after I moved some of my things in, the elevator broke. It has been a month or more and still broken. I am 66 years old and have had both knees replaced. I have a very hard time climbing stairs without carrying anything. Carrying boxes up the stairs and to the opposite corner of the building is near impossible.

They were out of cards though. So I went up again to unload and there was no lock that was supposed to included. So went back to the office and had to get a lock. Annoying but overall I'm moved in and hopefully someday I can access it without having to go to the office and get permission to enter my unit..

The items bounce and shift when each wheel goes over Each paver. While they look pretty they are not mover friendly. I would suggest not using them in future locations.

bethany g | First Impressions1. The alarm system goes off every time I open the door to my storage unit. 2. The online reservation system said the lock would be inside the unit when I arrived. It was not. The staff at the desk seemed surprised that I expected the lock to be inside the unit. 3. The climate control system does not seem to work very well at this location (Red Bluff, CA). The thermometer inside the building indicated 85 degrees. 4. Other than these minor inconveniences, the facility is very clean, modern, and in a very convenient location. The online reservation system was easy to navigate and simple to complete. I like that this facility, in addition to storage units, has all the items one would need for packing, storing and moving. Very nice.

I was then told I do not get reimbursed for ANY of those 25 unused days on either unit. I was shocked. It doesn’t work that way in literally ANY other business I know of. Very disappointing aspect to an otherwise great experience storing my belongings there for 7 months. I felt I was a great customer and these firm stance was not very good customer service by any means. I was basically told I was stuck with it and flat out of luck on any discussion of how this is simply not fair or good business practices

The assistant manager Eric? was so totally awesome. Went out to my car popped off the plastic panel per my auth, the one I didn't check of course and showed me the location. He was very nice and professional during the whole interaction and then sold me a 5x5 storage space. I used to be a supervisor/worker for a utility company and he is exactly the type of persons I would look for to hire on our team.

But when we arrived the store units at U hula in Chico were not available and we had to unload and store our truck load of furniture and household goods in Red Bluff. This caused us extra mileage and therefore extra expense. Not Red Bluff's fault. But irritating that the original reservation did not work as planned.
