ralph whave associates pay better attention to the gas gauge. I was told tank was at 7/8 full, rental receipt showed different level and the truck was actually at 5/8 full. I did not realize this until I had driven a couple miles. Since I was driving I could not reach my phone to take a picture. I forgot about taking the picture when I got where I was going. When I got back I told the associate and she said that they would not charge me for gas since I filled the tank to 3/4 full. According to the receipts I was 1 line low for fuel so I was charged $10 for fuel.
Christina ZWent to return truck. Long line. Employee said to leave it and they will email me receipt. 2 days pass no email. Finally get the email, someone else used my truck under my name?!! for 120 additional miles because the store let them. Called store, no answer, transferred to corporate then back to store. Employee who told me to leave the truck there had me leave my number but now no call back or refund or explanation… id love to delete this when my issue is resolved. Currently over 100$ extra out of pocket at the moment and also unsure what occurred when vehicle was rented to someone else in my name
Quinn CI have rented a rental truck from the Plainville, CT location many times, and come back time after time due to the excellent customer service, and reliable, durable rental trucks. I can rent the size truck I need for the occasion, and expect to pay a reasonable rate to do so. I recommend UHaul, and this location to anyone who asks me where to go for truck rental services, and moving accessories.

The staff was very accommodating as I really wanted indoor storage and found me a covered storage space. Clearly a disconnect on what is really available versus what the website showed.

It had a broken visor and rain water leaked into the back damaging some of my stuff. I had to re-box items when I reached my final destination. Also, can't you upgrade your fleet to a USB connector so I don't have to bring my outdated cigarette lighter adapter for my IPhone ? Sloppy steering added to a crappy moving experience. Excellent staff as mentioned, but below average for the vehicle. (Stuart Sisco)

Daniel YI did have a couple of unpleasant experiences with a General manager for a payment I wanted to make threw a helping resources and the experience was unfavorable by management as well as a staff that look like was friends with personal incharge , other then that pretty good that why I choose average.
SONIA S | Overall ExperienceI was charged $60 initially and was told I would be refunded for every mile I didn't use. I put 20 miles down. I drove less than 10 and was charged ANOTHER $40 for gas. I got the truck on a half tank. It was JUST below a half tank when I returned it. $60 turned into $104 when I was told it would most likely cost me $50 based upon my route.

Mary BDoor to building customer entrance wasn’t working, but left trailer at drop off area. Then an associate came out and apologized about broken door. Arrived at 7:15am to drop trailer off. Confirmation email indicated 6:30pm drop off. Didn’t see any extra charges. Good experience overall 👍
Michael GMade a reservation thru buisness website for same am pickup. My guy spent over 45min trying to get truck. They couldn't find reservation they needed to cancel and do as a walk-in. Very frustrating and lost an hours time out of our day.

August sThe truck size that I reserved was not available, neither was one of the dollies and I wasn’t notified until I went to pick them up. I was told that the smaller truck that was available was big enough for my things but I had to make two trips instead of one to move which was fortunately close by and not out of state.

EDWIN FI purchased a lock in the facility and the rep failed to know that the lock didn’t meet the requirements and I was required few days later to purchased a different one without the option of a refund. My unit was locked with another lock and I went and removed my belongings and canceled the unit contract

I did not receive any credit for having made a payment through the end of the Month of December when I checked out on December 10th. I would have thought that this would have been pro rated if I left before the end of my payment date since I was paid through the end of the month.

There are already a number of contacts with U-Haul regarding the complain (phone calls, chats, and emails) but I intend to file the insurance claim, as well. The store actively worked to keep me in the dark about what was going on, that is not acceptable.

william f | First ImpressionsI was harassed and accused of several things in storage, such as “using the wrong storage unit” and “bothering other customers” and “being too loud.” I was insulted and a scene was made out of me in front of other customers. The staff were creepy and paranoid, and one of the customers kept following me around telling me what to do, claiming he “works there sometimes” and “knows everyone.” I was crying when I arrived at this facility and instead of being compassionate and understanding about my move they decided to call the police and “check on me.” They then called the police again not three days later demanding they have the “right to evict me” without warning and making accusations with their friends. Upon renting a truck to move out, I was yet again in tears and argued with, harassed, and belittled in front of a full lobby of customers. Upon a smooth return, my phone was called multiple times in a span of 2-3 minutes by an associate accusing me of “losing the key” and “not returning it” and insisting that I’d “have to pay for it” when I clearly (on camera) dropped the key in the designated slot. I’d like someone from customer service to call me back, I’d like a full refund for my services here. How dare they treat people like this.

When I went to storage it was cool, out of the sun, bathroom equipped and quiet. The staff more than once offered to help me move items in or out which was appreciated. By far this was the best storage unit I've ever had and would highly recommend to anyone. Even my father who has had many storage units was completely blown away with my unit and it's amenities. She showed me how to get into the storage, where to park and showed me my storage. Before leaving the store she showed me on a map where the carts are to use to bring my things to my storage.

Additionally when clearing out unit it was clear that the windows on back wall of my unit caused sun damage and fading to wooden furniture. Additionally there is evidence of moisture on back wall where there are drip lines and peeling paint. Thankfully UHaul did help me move out and pay for movers and truck. RepWest insurance has denied my claim and I will be filing a law suit against Uhaul.

I called them they said I could get my things the following Monday and when I called they told me my things were thrown out and there was nothing I can do. The staff yelled at me and told me it was my fault they didn’t apologize and were extremely rude to me. I cannot replace the items that were in the storage unit and will probably be seeking legal action against the company! Hire new managers and employees at the plainville location they are horrible!

It wasn’t until my curiosity got the best of me and my wife went into the office and was told about the fob and it’s function. Also seeing a rat trap inside the unit gave me reservation if I should even keep this unit past the first month.

Chantelle should be the CEO of U-Haul! It is clear that her staff respects her and they all will do just about anything to help their customers get the best deal possible and resolve any issues immediately. They treat everyone like family. U-Haul should be using this facility as the example that all others should strive to be like. I've dealt with several other storage and truck rental facilities - none come close to this one. Moving is one of the most stressful things anyone can go through and U-Haul's mission should be to help reduce this stress. Chantelle and her staff fully understand this and do "whatever it takes" and then some. During this move I dealt with several rude U-Haul employees both on the National U-Haul phone line and at the facility where we dropped off the truck. Again, they should ALL be trained by Chantelle. If they were, U-Haul would rule the industry! While happy to have moved to the next chapter in our lives, I am sad to say goodbye to U-Haul - Pinnacle Rock. However, I will continue to recommend them to all my family and friends in the area. Thank you.

JOE C | First ImpressionsAs a long term (3 years) user of Pinnacle Rock (Plainville) U-Haul Storage and Rental, I have found the facility, its staff and service to be phenomenal. Never encountered a "problem" which is surprising since my tenure was an extended one. Whether it be with storage or truck rental, everything always went smoothly. Employees were always helpful, friendly and great to deal with. I would like to single out Will Cintas, who had a "one-of-a-kind" philosophy of management and customer service; that should be "bottled and sold" to any company involved in working with the public and providing services similar to yours. Truly an honest, caring, and "Service is #1" type of professional. More importantly, a "good and genuinely fine" person for who he is. The biggest compliment that I can pay to a person is to say: "If I had a business that needed someone with Will's responsibilities, and even more, I would try to hire him away from your company...with a promotion if possible", U-Haul must have realized his worth, as he is now manger for 128 (if memory serves me correctly) "Plainvilles". Justifiably earned and deserved. I suspect that he will move further up in the company as time goes on. I work with Neurodiverse clients, and Mr. Cintas went out of his way to interview and talk with one of my clients who was a mechanic by training and in need of a part-time job. If New Britain and Plainville haden't merged, there is not a doubt in my mind that my client would have been "doing hitches" for Will in Plainville. Consolidation of operations unfortunately eliminated that possibility, (and rightfully so) when the opening was filled by a (transferring) in-house employee from the soon-to-be closed operation. I have nothing but the highest praises and kudos for EVERYTHING about the Plainville operations and its people. Should I ever need a storage unit or truck rental again, I WILL go to Plainville...if it is possible, even if there are other providers closer. If not, I would still choose U-Haul merely based upon my experiences with Pinnacle Rock. I was particularly impressed with how management and staff handled a water "emergency" that resulted when a customer's vehicle caught fire (due to vehicle malfuntion) in the parking area, just adjacent my INDOOR "bin". Sprinklers went off and water sprayed everywhere; so much so, that it had to be "sopped" up from a quite a large area in the vicinity of the fire. My unit was unaffected, in my mind, primarily because of the "pro-active" actions taken by staff to prevent water from flowing into other surrounding areas. Will Cintas, and staff were present when I arrived to check my unit and insurers were already on the premise to help customers check for and guage damages, if indeed there were any; and to file claims, right then and there if any needed to be completed. Plainville and U-Haul have EARNED a "life-time" customer from the former occupant of #1003 ; but more importantly..it has an active ambassador for the facility, its' operations and it's staff. Customer Service is the name of the game...and the GAME IS ON when it comes to Pinnacle Rock, Plainville. My thanks to all at the Plainville facility. In two words..."CONSISTENTLY AWESOME!" I went back and asked if there was anything they can do and was told to come back later next week. Poor service, rude staff and unreliable company.

Yesterday I went to the facility to get access to the storage space but was told by the girl at the counter that there were no 10x15’s available and that the website booked too many reservations for the amount of spaces of that size available. Not my problem but the clerks didn’t care. I tried to reason with the manager but she was very rude and obnoxious to me and didn’t care that I was unhappy or dissatisfied. I had no choice but to accept a 10x10 space instead which worked out fine. I moved in today but there were a couple of other groups moving in to theirs also but there are only four carts/dollies available. Not nearly enough for the total number of spaces available. If that’s not enough, the floor plan diagram on the wall indicates two elevators side by side and an adjacent restroom but there is only one elevator and no restroom because it is actually a storage space. UHAUL YOU NEED A SECOND ELEVATOR IN THIS HUGE FACILITY! This facility is new, very clean and plenty of storage spaces but crappy, unprofessional and unfriendly customer service staff and insufficient amenities made this a very unpleasant experience.

It's too soon to give a rating better than average. I guess it's an honest mistake but I did say it was very important I move in Sunday- the day I rented it.

After arriving in Florida my company canceled the relocation due to COVID and I quickly realized that I needed to contact the U-Haul location and reserve a space. I called and asked to speak with Tim or Mike so that I could explain my situation, but was told that the representative would send Tim an email with my contact number and proceeded to create a reservation for a 42 ft spot. My reservation number was 924074-00106151 and when my wife arrived yesterday the person at the counter said that my reservation could not be found, and there were no 42ft spaces available. My wife then was told that 37 ft space or there was nothing that they could help her with. My wife paid the fee and was told that there were zero gate fobs. I am beside myself as I have ALWAYS BEEN A GOOD CUSTOMER and I have no idea what went wrong. Thank you.

Imagine my surprise when I walk in, on the day I am suppose to drop off my RV to find that I to be told that my reservation has been cancelled (turns out they only cancelled inside storage ones) but that my spot had not been held. This meant I needed to pick a new spot. This is a challenge for a mom who now has to back in an RV with her 3 children guiding her. Looking at and selecting a spot took 45 minutes, while actually getting in the spot took another 45 minutes. (This is in addition to my original stop to meet with the manager to select a spot when I made my first reservation.) If you are not going to maintain site selection, please notify customers of that in advance. In the past I used to make my reservations months in advance and my site would be held. This time it was not. Please do people the courtesy of informing them in advance if that is going to be the case.

Twice I was charged a late fee because my credit card was declined - 3 days after the automatic charge date. Was I contacted to resolve the problem? No, I was just slapped with a late charge. My credit card, btw, was lost the first time and hacked the second. And I also reserved a truck about 6 months ago to help my son move his apartment. When I showed up at 8am Sat to pick it up, I was told the computers have been down for a day and he couldn't rent me a truck until they came back up. I had a 6 hour window to use the freight elevators to move my son, and now, no truck. They also told me they would call me the minute the computers came back up - they never called me. Uhaul's customer service just plain sucks.

scott s | Overall ExperienceThe reason that I answered "No" to number 5 is because the facility had a fairly substantial roof leak that affected our unit and contents. While the staff did get a new unit for us nearby, we had to move all the contents ourselves, which kind of rubbed me the wrong way. Overall, the facility was generally clean, and the staff was normally helpful.
