I drove only 60 miles I put three gallons of gas in the vehicle I was charged for 4 gallons meaning vehicle got 9 miles per gallon This was excessive charge in my opinion

Truck had 109000 miles Worn out wipers and it was raining. Transmission didn’t shift into drive automatically And the steering was very out of alignment and had to constantly move the steering wheel back and forth to keep it in the center of the road. Must keep better maintenance But the price was great

The weather seal was missing from the driver side door (or damaged); on the highway the air was vastly seeping. Luckily I did it a day early because it is raining the day I had planned on renting a uhaul. Also, the truck was listed as having 1/4 fuel remaining when in reality there was actually 1/8. I was charged for a fuel service and am disputing it now.

I was really dissapointed with the entrance at your storage facility. As a customer, I have had a terrible experience trying to get items into the storage unit. I feel it is important to bring this issue to your attention so that it can be addressed and improved for future customers. Firstly, the parking situation is frustrating. Having to park on the street and then walk to the entrance is inconvenient, especially when carrying large or heavy items. Additionally, the double doors at the entrance only open one at a time, causing a bottleneck and making it difficult to maneuver items inside. Furthermore, the door that does open has no way to hold it open, making it challenging to enter with multiple items. Moreover, the sidewalks leading to the entrance are crooked and cracked, making it even more difficult to navigate with a cart or items on wheels. It is also concerning for safety reasons, as someone could potentially trip and get hurt. I understand that the facility is well-maintained and the staff is wonderful, but the entrance on the back of the building is very disappointing. To be honest, if I wasn't in a hurry, I would have canceled my rental and looked for another facility with a more convenient entrance. I believe that the entrance should be a priority for any storage facility, as it is the first point of contact for customers and can greatly affect their overall experience. I hope that you will take my feedback into consideration and make improvements to the entrance of your facility. I value your services, but I cannot overlook the inconvenience and frustration caused by the current entrance situation. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to hearing back from you and seeing improvements made to the entrance in the future.

My original pick/drop off location was at 2455 W Devon. When I arrived to this location the person in charged of this location barely spoke English. He had to call someone else over the phone. Then he stated I did not have a reservation, when I showed the reservation number sent to me via email he changed his version and stated there was not a van available a this location. I then got an email and a phone call from a U-Hall representative letting me know that pick up/ drop off locations had been changed to Dempster's ave. in Evanston. This action not only cost me extra money to get an u-ber to take me to the new location but also extra money to pay for the movers. I and demanding to have a full reimbursement of the rental unit.

I was assigned and provided paperwork for one van. That van turned not to be on premise thus they changed van assignment for me. The original van's paperwork said one thing about the gas amount in the van and that is what I looked at. the van I finally received actually matched the amount of gas in the van as was noted in the original paperwork so I thought nothing about. when I returned it, i stopped and filled up gas to match the amount that I believed was due. when I returned it I was told that it should have been more and was charged $14. I tried explaining what I wrote in this comment and it did not matter. I should not have been charged for more gas let alone at your rate. that was not good customer services.

The staff here are friendly and helpful. They go out of their way to help any customer, no matter which one is officially helping that customer. They communicate well with each other and handle the stress of dealing with stressed customers (everyone is stressed when they're renting a truck, right?). The truck I had was a little worse-for-wear. The driver's side door didn't catch unless it was slammed and steering wheel needs re-wrapped. It did the job!

Of all the storage facilities in Evanston, U-Haul is number one, not least of which because they also have trucks on site ready to rent. The facility is clean,, secure and well maintained. They also have PLENTY of moving carts available (unlike other facilities I won’t name). The only drawback is lack of parking. I don’t have a car so that’s not an issue — BUT — if you rent a truck and you’re planning on meeting movers or helpers, you should be forewarned that you cannot park on Dempster or on the side street adjacent to U-Haul — so time your meetups accordingly or be prepared to park around the corner on Greenwood and wait. It would help if they had a few designated parking spots available.

The worst experience ever at a UHaul location! The gentleman that checked me in first thing in thing in the morning did things that I have never seen done before at a Uhaul, I felt like they were accustomed to dealing with criminals and treated me and another customer in that manner. Not only did he secure a copy of my license, but also took my picture with his cell phone. Additionally, the customer who was in front of me came back in for a part that he did not know he needed for his hitch. And was yelled at with profanity by the Uhaul associate and the Uhaul associate threatened to revoke his contract if he did not simmer down. Now the customer was not using profanity, he was just in a hurry and expressing his frustration. As I was also frustrated with this associated behavior in front of me. I will go out of my way in the future to not use this location again even though it's less than a mile away. Will either go out of my way or use a different moving company all together. Plus, no one told me during the reservation process that the mileage was double the price on Friday and Saturday. So this move cost me more than I had budgeted.

The younger team members are consistently rude and go out of their way to avoid all human contact, especially with the customers. I reserved a 15' truck weeks in advanced for Saturday Jan 27th. I went to this location on Thursday to make sure the truck I needed would be ready by 7:30 AM. U-Haul headquarters double booked the truck I needed and when I arrived on Saturday morning, it was gone. It was sold to another person. I then had to take a truck that would need to be driven back to Evanston. I had to pay double. I needed a truck only one way. Also, less than a 1/4 tank was in the truck, 17 miles left in the truck. We returned the truck with 1/2 tank and got a credit on our bill. The men at this location were very professional and kind. U-Haul the headquarters was the problem.

The staff seemed that I was putting them out by showing up at my appointment on time. I was the only person in the store and there were 4 employees outside talking. The light harness running from the trailer to my car had been spliced and the wires were exposed. It wasn't until day 2 of my rental did I discover this because the trailer lights were not working. I was forced to purchase a new harness. The employee at U-Haul who hooked up the trailer must have seen this. Shoddy work.

I would not recommend this facility. The unit itself was fine, though it was very inconvenient to go up and down a flight of stairs while hauling heavy items. There is no parking in the lot, and staff were rude about us parking temporarily to check in. My partner and I had rented a truck to move the items out of my unit. We were unable to e-check in for our rental and had to go in to the office. Staff were more concerned with personal phone calls and conversations than trying to check in guests. The truck we were given had broken glass, a straight razor blade and various nails and screws in the back and on the ramp. The parking lot was littered with similar items and smelled strongly of vomit while picking up our truck. The mobile check out process for the actual unit was easy and convenient.

The gas gage was not accurate and I brought it to there attention. I was worried that I would be doubted and second guessed. It immediately acknowledged a d taken care of. I was almost disappointed because I had my argument prepared just in case. Wasn't necessary. They made it right instantly. It showed me that they care about their customers and their jobs. ALL OF THEM! I give my experience, 11 out of 10 stars. Now it's up you to give a raise. Lol thank you

I tried to pay my bill two separate times. The first time I tried to use my work business card and they wouldn’t accept it. Then I brought cash and they wouldn’t accept half a payment. Uhaul then sold my stuff. Very cruel and wicked.

I live in Washburn Wisconsin, and I would drive to Evanston Illinois to complete my move and they were very understanding with working with me with my payments situation. Martel was helpful in working with the computer modulator issue, I will be using their rental office again. My only concern it would be nice to have cookies, donuts and coffee in the mornings. I was disappointed when I went to claim the free 30 day storage offer, only to find out that I had to purchase a $12 lock that I did not need and a $20 insurance policy that I did not want. Otherwise, it was a good experience.

I had an incident with one of your employees. I came to start unloading my storage unit and there are supposed to be 4 parking spaces available for paying customers, but those spaces were filled with trucks. I started to park on the opposite side and was told under no circumstance could I park there. When I questioned it I was told that I would have to park on the street. I'm partially handicapped I this was totally wrong. As a paying customer there always should be parking on the lot by the storage facility.

The staff was helpful. It would be better to have more and/or larger trash cans around. However, when I first got to my location, there a man, half dressed, passed out in the unit near the one I would soon use. That was pretty scary. Glad he's alive, so I wouldn't say I felt safe.

I gave an average rating because when I first rented I thought it automatically came with insurance not knowing. There was a disaster and I lost a lot. Lesson learned. After getting over that, and no other choice for the remainder of my items things went smooth and the storage facility turned out to be one of the best places to have my things at. However, beware! Never get a unit without insurance. I lost valuables without any compensation. Purchase Insurance!!!!

The only problem I had with this shopping Evanston is that they didn't have any lockers. Which is not their faults apparently a lot of people have a lot of storage. But the manager there Adam and the assistant manager Trevor were absolutely awesome. I would go back to that store specifically just so I can deal with those two guys. Thumbs up to both of you.

The storage unit I was assigned was very close to the door so that we could move things in and out easily. I felt very secure leaving all my belongings there for two months while I looked for a place to live. 4 stars basses upon the following: Men’s restroom was not accessible and very unpleasant odors can be smelled in the surrounding area. Hopefully this issue will be repaired soon.

I made an an agreement to dispose of my stuff inside a storage unit, and paid them all the fees and everything, and double checked because I'm travelling. They didn't cancel it. Now at collection...

I recently received an email from UHaul saying my unit had been vacated. I was out of town & never authorized this. it took 3 hours on the phone to clear up that a mistake. Unacceptable aggrevation.

I was very pleased with the storage facility at 2125 Dempster Street in Evanston, IL. The space was well maintained, access to the unit was convenient, and I had no problem using the loading docks.

My overall experience was very positive. Very happy to have used uhal for my moving and storage needs. I would recommend having an additional check in person. Or a self check out for reservations.

Devon from U-Haul Dempster went above and beyond to fulfill my reservations (truck & storage). Despite the initial chaos, Devon adapted to the problems and helped me get a storage unit the next day!!

Your website is never working to pay online. Your manager at the Evanston, iL facility was very uncooperative. Always had to reach corporate office for service. Corporate staff were helpful.
