There was only one customer service agent at the front desk with no one else on site. It took 50 minutes to get a utility trailer that I had reserved and paid for on line and I had also checked in on line. This is unacceptable.

They w/m paper work shows Julius S. They young man was high strong smell of Marjuana on his person. With my experience with this this man should not had been at work speech was hard to hear mumbling. Did not tell me I was receiving a text before I left to check my traile tag from text. I noticed text later and called the number and spoke to representative and was very helpful and got my information and email. I made my drop this evening In Smithfield location on 210 and he was very helpful and was unable to do something right then due to not having everything done in the Asheville location. Great guy In Smithfield store.

Rented a 10ft truck in advance. The morning before my 11:00 pickup I went online filled out the paperwork to save time. I got there and stood in line over 30 minutes because there was only 1 employee at a very busy store. When it was finally my turn I was told the truck I reserved had not been turned in. I would have to take the van. I was picking up 2 sofas from a warehouse and needed the space of the truck and the ramp. I was assured the sofas should fit but it had no ramp. I asked for a discount since I wasn’t getting what I needed. He said he would give me one. As he checked me out he said he would give me $.99 per mile instead of the $1.09 they charge for the van That was no discount. The truck was $.99 per mile. I’m paying the same thing for a van I did not want. No ramp and not sure the furniture would fit. Luckily it did fit after we took out the hand truck that took up so much space. . This allowed us to stack the sofas on top of each other. Once we took the sofas to my home, we had no ramp to move the sofas directly on to the porch that goes directly into my house. I’m approaching 70 years old and with my son-in-law we had to carry them up the steps. The hand truck was left at U-haul, knowing we wouldn’t fit both sofas in if we left it on the van. So that was my experience with U-haul. Horrible service, waited way past my pickup time. Did not get what I ordered and needed and still paid the full price of what I would have paid if I received what I ordered

The only issue I had over the past year was a problem with mice. There were traps all over the facility, and I understand it happens. I also think it was a bit pricey in terms of my tiny rental space. I know all costs are rising , but storage should not be so high as there is zero maintenance . The employees are wonderful and helpful and all of my possessions were safe.

The location was pleasant, but my complaint is with UHAUL as a company. I would give UHAUL a -0 rating. They changed my pickup location without notifying me, and the new location was 30-35 minutes away. They even wanted to charge me for the extra mileage. As a result, I had to wait until the next day to pick up my truck, even though I had four movers lined up, and I had to pay them for their day even though I didn't have a truck. The next day, the truck they provided was a disaster. It had a flat tire, which I suspect was present when I picked it up, and the check-engine light was on, which made it a potential hazard. Needless to say, I was extremely disappointed with UHAUL's service, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I am so disappointed with the whole experience with UHAUL. not at all would I recommend it to anyone.

I elected to use the online self check-in. It was very tedious and took longer than just normal face-to-face. At one point I had to go through screens verifying the tag number and views of all sides of the truck for issues. You couldn't see any detail. All this while sitting in the truck trying to leave and meet our people. I was 30 minutes late. I will not use it again. When I finally got into the truck and drove about a mile I found out the play in the steering wheel was excessive. I kept having to "bump" the steering from left to right to keep the vehicle in the lane correctly. Unfortunately, I had wasted so much time trying to pick up the truck I didn't have the extra time to go back and start all over again. Turning in the truck was much easier as I dealt with a real person. The exchange was minimal since he was busy cleaning and moving another truck. I was so glad to be done with it that I didn't even think to mention the issue with steering. Overall, it got the job done but not the greatest experience.

I returned my trailer a day early and the Uhaul employees failed to note that it was returned. I received a notification from Uhaul that the trailer had not been returned two days later. I wouldn't trust the employees at this location to adequately assume their responsibilities.

The truck that I used to move with seemed alright until it started to rain, and the roof started to leak. I didn’t notice it until I went to move one of my kids mattresses and it was completely saturated and ultimately ruined.

When I picked up the truck I was told the truck I rented was not able to be rented. Then the guy said they had one more but it was parked out front on the grass. He handed me a key and I had to back the truck in between the sign and the building over a sidewalk to even get it out while it was raining. The roof leaked in the back and the entire floor was soaked and filled with water the whole time we were moving. When I was returning it, I looked underneath the passenger seat and found a black tube. I picked it up and realized that it was a joint of weed that some other driver had left in there. I was riding around with weed in my car all day. Thank God I didn’t get pulled over. This was the worst experience I’ve ever had in a U-Haul in my life. I feel like they should do better. No offer of any recourse or refund or restitution whatsoever.

I'll leave the feedback good, because I rent from there often, but the truck that I rented smelled horrible in the cab. It honestly smelled like Bob Marley used it as his tour bus for 30 years. The weed smell was so strong it gave me a headache and I had to roll the windows down even though it was freezing outside. To be honest, your office smelled about the same. I don't know if it's weed, some sort of vape pen or what, but I'd stop that pretty quick because it's nauseating.

I don't like paying double for the 4 days that I used the uhaul. The way their money system works has screwed me out of $200. I had to pay for it twice because they already got their money out each day for 4 days and on the last day the think I owed $200. I didn't have it in the bank at the time but when I got paid this week they just took it up on their selves to take it right out. And I've already paid it each day. It's really put me in a bind my husband is disabled and don't have much money so this really hurts us. I used uhaul twice before this in the weeks before so all total in our move is about $900 now.

Mobile pick up vehicles were not ready, keys were not available, equipment assigned wasn't even on the lot. The truck we got was dirty and didn't contain the dolly we paid for. We had to wait over an hour for the location to open in order to pick up the truck. Records were not updated with the vehicle they gave us so we were charged for fuel at the other end despite filling the tank prior to turn in. We had to then make additional calls for the refund of the fuel and the missing dolly. I'm guessing this location is very busy and is understaffed for their work load.

In Asheville, the return procedure was ok. Asheville, needs more employees to handle arrivals. There was a line at the check-in/check-out desk, and at least 3 other returns were coming in at the same time. The employee I talked with indicated that I could just leave the key with him, and a receipt would be emailed. That was the extent of our interaction. However, overall my experience with using UHaul was positive.

I was moved out of my unit twice in the computer system. Then I was promised two months free rent. However, that was not followed through with. Therefore, I was put in lien status. When discussing this issue on the phone with a U-Haul employee and explaining the two promised free months, the employee lied and stated they were from the corporate office and screamed at me over the phone. Afterwards, I fixed the lien issue. Recently, I came out to unit and found that the lock from that previous lien was still on my unit. I called customer service and the first agent proceeded to send me back to the cue. I did have better experience with second agent; he made sure that I actually was connected to someone at the facility. However, the facility did not have a key and had to saw the lock off. This entire episode took at least 45 minutes during which time my 82-year-old mother was waiting for me in the car. Additionally, a previous phone agent stated that he would report the behavior of the staff member who lied. He stated I would receive a response after he turned in the report. I was never contacted either by phone, text or email! Customer service needs to improve drastically!

This is a facility and business preying on peoples with no where else to go during the pandemic. Secured a unit that was supposed to be 10x10 and get there to see its Unit 4000, which is 5x5x10H - when I asked was told there were not other units available. Since I was moving that day, and during COVID storage facilities in Asheville and surrounding were few and far between. They absolutely had other units available but knew I had no choice since I had also rented a uhaul truck for that same day to move. Compare cost of a bigger unit in Charlotte I have and chose to continue, where I pay $59/month this one cost the outrageous $124/month to start, and it was smaller! Then month by month the price just kept getting raised, using inflation as an excuse, knowing it was already wildly overpriced. Before I moved out rent was $139. If that was the only problem with this facility I would have probably just given below average. But then when I could not take the price hikes any longer and decided to move out and put everything in my unit in charlotte, we arrived to see the horrible conditions of my things and our unit. It was clear that whoever was cleaning the facility just simply walked through the inside halls with a leaf blower, pushing all the leaves an dust and dirt into the units, especially mine it appears, that had outward facing garages but inside open walls at the top. Showing no concern whatsoever for the folks things that were being storage on the other side of the walls. There was more dust, dirt and leaves in my unit that if I had stored thee things outside for the last few years. Water had clearly crept into the units from the garage doors not being sealed, as all of the wood furniture that was touching the ground had been rotting. Expensive furniture ruined, from the water and debris. This has been very easily the worst storage unit experience I have had in the carolinas and I've had more than 10. I will never use Uhaul again. And of course, when I notify Uhaul online that I am moving out and the unit is empty and lock removed on 9/29, I got confirmation back and expected to be done paying for you all to ruin my things, but no I am now being charge rent for the month of October, and late fees to boot. Yesterday got a lien notice. I will fight you all and this extra month of rent as long as it takes, you owe me thousands of dollars in ruined furniture and will not get a penny from me for a unit I didn't use in Oct.

Price kept going up and up and up. Staff wasn't unfriendly but seemed non caring at times. Door to unit building locked many times even in middle of day, many times had to go get someone to unlock door. Overall, unit was bug/rodent free, temp steady, and very convenient location.

The best part about this facility was the acting manager, Julian. I was unable to access my storage unit outside of office hours and when I contacted customer service, they offered no solution other than referring me to ANOTHER storage facility (to pay even more money to store my things until the morning)

The only reason I said no to convenient hours and gave four stars instead of five is because when I reserve the storage unit and the truck, this location was literally the only one that closed at 1:00 p.m. while the rest all closed later in the afternoon. Also, I kept having problems, or rather we kept having problems with their system as well as the website on my phone and I ended up being double charged when I was supposed to get my first month free of storage because I also rented a truck. Truck. I hope this gets resolved because this is money that I need and I was not supposed to be charged twice and speaking of this, I was charged more than what I was quoted or I was supposed to pay. If possible, get back to me and fix this! My number is 828 -712 -7019. Thank you

I had problems from day one when I took over the storage from a friend who I had been sharing the storage with. She decided to get her things out of the storage and told me that she had left the key and card up front. When I came to change everything over to my name they couldn’t find the key and charged me to cut the lock off . It was all down hill from there.

I’ve had 3 units or so for more years than I can count at the facilities on Swannanoa River Road in Asheville. I’ve had some bad fortune of late and fell behind. When a friend volunteered to help me out recently, I stood beside the manager as he told my friend that he wanted me out ASAP and that I was not welcome to rent storage there or at any UHAUL facility. For the countless thousands of dollars I’ve spent with UHAUL this derision was something I will never forget. Your employee of Mike Miller as a manager is a disastrous public relations move in my experience. I would recommend JD as a manager. All the other staff have been more than pleasant to deal with.

I believe that the new manager has brought the quality of service and customer care up to a great level. I was not pleased with the previous manager’s lack of care in that department. I would be hesitant in recommending an outdoor unit there for several reasons- My storage unit always had leaves on the floor and puddles of water water beneath my boxes. I had to use a tiny ‘rope’ to pull my door open with, which left my hands hurting. Also , the door would come down and almost hit my head if I didn’t grab it on its way back down and give it an extra hard push over my head. These are easy fixes, so I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend outdoor units were those things taken care of.

The access doors were rarely unlocked by opening time. The alarm would go off when I opened my unit even though each time I would carefully use my entrance card. The surly manager would charge up demanding to know if I used my card. I told him yes I had just like last time he asked. He said he was just making sure policies were followed. This was ironic since he refused to EVER wear a mask despite city and company policies calling for him to wear one like most of the other staff. This was like walking in to see him flipping both middle fingers at those who wear masks. I got tired of it and closed my unit down early. We have options and you should take your storage business to places where they care. They will use short staffing due to Covid no doubt, but that wouldn't explain refusal to care about the health and safety of customers.

From hitch installation for bike racks … to truck rental and storage , they are the best of the best . Asheville , NC is primarily an annual year to year lease market . Without top notch U-Uaul locations like the Swananoah Branch , the seasonal 2nd home folks and annual rental markets , could not succeed .

I had to get a smaller unit than I had scheduled because they had no record of my reservation when I arrived and the larger unit wasn’t available. I only stayed 2 days because the into had insulation falling from the ceiling and what appeared to be water damage . I earned a month of free storage after spending over $2,000 on a truck and trailer reservation in November. I moved out a week before the end of the month but kept receiving invoices for balance due. Tried to contact the GM many times but never heard back. After the most recent email talking of collections and liens I called again and finally spoke to a service agent elsewhere. The bill was taken care of but I still have not heard a word from manager at the facility. Not a good experience.

The ONLY comment I have is the storage room and the area of the building where the our space was SMELLED AWFUL! It has an odor like a rat smell. We were very happy we were getting our furniture out as I imagine if we were there longer we would not have been able to get the smell out. The few people working were stressed, cold & very irritated. I witnessed them being very short with every person in there, acting as if we were all a bother & inconvenience during their busy day. After waiting 20-30 minutes to be set up with my storage unit (My second time coming back bc I was told they were too busy to do it earlier in the day), when I explained what I was there for, the guy literally dropped his head in frustration & audibly sighed while shaking it back & forth. They were very busy & seemingly short staffed, but it was unprofessional & extremely uncomfortable for them to take that out on every customer there. the one staff i always saw was the most patient, kind, long suffering employee. The "climate controlled" unit was wet and 90 degrees. I could not get a refund. Very bad experience.

The only problem I had was the wait time to get service I think it would be a good idea to have someone to hook up trailers and check trucks and leave the cashier taking care of customers be faster?

The staff was rude and not helpful. When asked if I could talk to the manager the gal replied “she she’s really busy”. The place is very inconvenient and the storage units are dark.
