Maria Q | Overall ExperienceDid all the pre stuff in the app and was asked the exact same questions picking the vehicle up. Drop off we had no choice but to do it with the app as we waited for about 10 minutes with no one even acknowledging us. On the app you have to take photos of every part of the car then the very next screen asks you to take a photo of the drop off location - very weird that couldn’t be seen from the 6 previous photos. The mileage wasn’t correct that was our mileage out so we were over charged about 30 miles, couldn’t explain that to someone with no assistance outside. There’s potential here, but the very hands off approach is concerning.

Douglas MI dropped the trailer off on Friday afternoon. Agent would not check unit in before i left. I was told that I would receive email check in notification invoice. Gilbert Ave location would never answer their phone. Each time it had to go call went off-site location. I had to call Back Friday, twice on Saturday. Each time I was told trailer was not checked in, operator said office did not answer, or respond to messages sent. Finally on Sunday morning they contacted facility manager and got trailer checked in. Very poor service!
John CI booked a pickup truck online. Off course they didn't have one in stock. The next option was a uhual which cost more. On top of the uhaul costing more the insurance was more in-store.

thomas mIt took an inordinate amount of time to pick up the rental. The online check-in was inoperable and the staff at this location had no sense of urgency. It took me 45 minutes to actually obtain my vehicle. There were only 2 people in line ahead of me. There has to be a better way to streamline this operation and make it more efficient for customers.

The trickiest part was figuring out after-hours checkin- it’s probably best to work in some time margin for yourself because the app is still a little glitchy. However, both customer service ladies I talked to were top-notch kind and knowledgeable. Overall it ended up being the best choice for me, even after calling or looking online at four other places near my neighborhood.

Eddie WUHAUL needs to let customers know if and when they are going to give up their truck reservation. Nowhere on any of the forms or the website does it say that if you’re late, UHAUL could give your truck to someone else. I understand giving it away if someone never shows, but at least send that customer a message letting them know that their reservation has been canceled before they show up to get their truck. This mixup added over an hour to our already busy day, so that was not fun.

I was disappointed that the van still had ice and snow on it from a storm a few days earlier, which required me to scrape off after going back to my car to get a scraper. I would have expected that to be taken care of before my rental. One of the mirrors was also broken - I would expect that to have been repaired before being rented out, as that's an important aspect of driver safety.

Ian BWhen I received my U Haul the gas was basically on E and the first thing I had to do was fill up the U Haul in order to make it to my location. Additionally, the truck was covered in snow and required me to clean off prior to leaving the lot. Also, U Hauls site states that you provide Truck Share Services that allows the renter to self-pick up or self-return the truck outside of normal business hours using only your phone and the U-Haul App. That's exactly what I used, but I received a call after 6 hours to see where the truck was. This caused me to rush the remaining items I had to move, as U Haul was expecting me to return the truck before the move was complete. Overall my experience was not the best, from beginning to end I felt that this site did not care about the customer and just the truck.

When purchasing the unit I selected yes to the insurance but after it flooded I was informed that I was never enrolled for the insurance. Dealing with the insurance agent was a nightmare. I’ve been doubled charged for the unit and had to wait days for the refund. I did not get reimbursed the amount I should have with the insurance claim. Even after paying for the unit, when I would go, my card to enter was always denied and I had to wait outside for assistance. Overall it was a horrible, unorganized, disaster to deal with as a customer. The lady manager at the Gilbert Ave location was the only person who was understanding, showed empathy, and helped me. I don’t remember her name but she deserves a raise!

The first person that helped me her name is Lisa from the Dalton Avenue Cincinnati was super helpful.Unfortunately I had to call back because I had something to attend to and whoever took up my reservation after that messed it up, from giving me an incorrect size of storage room, to charging me for storage even though storage comes in free with a rental truck to another person not being able to fix that on time when I got to the location. Grateful Maya and Greg at 2320 Gilbert Avenue were exceptional. Though I waited for at least an hour or so, they got me all the help I needed.

PHYLLIS R | First ImpressionsThe U-Haul online reservation is a freaking joke and it’s hurting your brick-and-mortar employees. I was quoted at most $50 to rent a truck, dolly, and storage facility. I paid $160. I’m moving my stuff into storage because I’m going to be homeless. That’s a life changing amount of money to a lot of people, and I understand how deposits work. But that does not mean I can pay that much extra on a whim, it’s ridiculous that I didn’t know about any of this beforehand. They didn’t book my storage unit the first time I went in there, so I luckily made it before they closed. Instead of the facility I was quoted for maybe $80/month in the newer building, I got something that will cost me $115 and has some sort of chicken wire hanging on the ceiling? Moving can be one of the most stressful times in anyone’s life, and I know the employees don’t know me, but I would have appreciated anyone who was actively trying not to care about me just getting what I need.

There should be easier elevator access. I realize it’s a freight elevator, but very heavy and does not level so well when exiting, which makes it difficult to maneuver carts on and off of it. The lighting is good, but shuts off after some minutes. It’s not comfortable to have to walk back to the sensor area to activate the lights. Lastly, I thank management for any storage discounts. However, UHaul is very expensive compared to other storage facilities. Thank you.

They upgraded my storage unit size and I ended up receiving two separate units that were side-by-side. The facility itself was clean and it had been modernized. There were still some issues. The elevator wasn't moving at one point while we were unpacking on the third floor. We were often in darkness because the motion detection light would only stay on for 10 -15 minutes at a time. The storage unit map was very difficult to navigate. My biggest issue was w/ UHaul itself. I don't move everyday so I took a lot of merit in your recommendations and they weren't at all realistic. I moved out of a 700 SQ ft 1 BR and then selected a 15 FT truck and an 8' X 10' storage unit. The truck wasn't large enough to secure all of my things. I had plenty of things that didn't get on the truck and that caused me some pain. The 10' X 10' unit wasn't large enough to secure my things and create a useful order. Ideally, you need extra unused space so there's room to rearrange items and make adjustments and I wasn't able to do that. Infact, I had to rent out a second unit and that's not something that I wanted to do. It's time to update the guidelines and to train the staff on what to recommend to their customers.

I saw some signage on-site that I could access my unit 24 hours/day, but other things led me to believe I could only access it during open office hours.

I was informed that the unit that I was getting was new and my furniture would fit. NOT, I had to purchase another unit to put my things in. All I. All not good. I pray to GOD my furniture isn’t bugged infested when I get it out in a couple weeks. Staff was nice and all but I truly think they need not rent out those awful storage units or they should at least be upfront about the units. $300 for storage unit(s) that is ridiculous. But I’ll be moving it out in two weeks.

The employees really need to communicate with customers a whole lot better than they did with me. I am not... an impatient person just like things to be on a time basis.

How is one supposed to move furnishings and appliances 10 feet above them, on the 2nd floor with no lift in sight. So we did get it changed fairly easily so I'll give you that , but to all the way across the street , where most of the lifts were out of order, so we had to wait on a group with a whole house full to move. Tis what it is. Woman at the front desk was cool though

Apparently a maintenance man left his stuff in there and they had no way to open it for us. After moving all of our stuff into one of the units they suggested we moved our things to 2 separate units down the hall. Luckily we were able to get that resolved and keep one of our current units but we had to talk to several people before we were able to. On one of our last trips moving in the elevator broke down between floors. No one from Uhaul was available so we had to call 911. The fire department had to pry open the doors and carry us and our stuff out. From there we had to carry all of our things up the stairs because we had no where to put them. When moving out, someone parallel parked a 26' truck in front of all 3 garage access doors. Their unit was apparently locked, but they wouldn't move or take any of their things out of the elevator which was just sitting still for over an hour. After asking them politely to move they yelled at us. Luckily a Uhaul employee made them leave, but it took us 2+ extra hours to move our stuff out. Our truck rental was fine, but the storage unit experience was terrible.

So the African American young lady didn’t know where to send up to see the United that we had just rented out. Then she had us go across the street and look for it without actually finding out for us. My father was out of breath and was bending over trying to walk to see the freaking unit!!!!!! 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡 only to find out it was next door to where she was. Then we got stuck in the elevator for 15mins. Then we go back across to the office and one nice young lady took the time to show me where it was to only find out it was being used by someone else!!!!!!!😡😡🤬🤬😡🤬so we had to go back to the office to get another one she found this was terrible I mean terrible!!!!

Instead I had to unload my stuff in the street and then take them through a maze of a warehouse, up an elevator to a storage unit that, while the spatial dimensions were correct, had too small of a door to get things in. An hour later they found a unit with the kind of door advertised and on the first floor, but which still required the maze to get to. This is after a 7 hour haul, tired, expecting drive up storage. It wasn’t as advertised, and the only way I’d refer others is if this situation was made right by a significant financial discount.

The other elavators and unload areas were not working. The one unload area was in use and the individuals were unloading. Were pulling out their items from the truck and then packing them in bins., Sitting on folding chairs, NOT only blocking the only functioning elavator using the only unload area for the starage facility. We asked when they would be done. They stated they would need about 4 more hours. Went to front desk no help. Said we had to wait until they finish. Had hired help to move our items in and on the clock. Cancelled the storage unit and had to pay the moving help to drive to a new location. Fortunately we were able to find a new unit same day. Worse experience of my life using a storage facility. Would NEVER recommend this location. I am still watting for a refund of the first month we had to pay upfront.

We had to keep the moving truck packed with all of our things an extra night as the facility we ended up renting was in a different location with different hours than we anticipated. Both of the freight elevators were out of order at our move in time, and not until halfway into the move, one of the elevators got up and running. The staff was helpful through these frustrations, and eventually we got into the storage space we needed.

We waited one hour for our turn at the elevator. The first unit we were assigned was to small so we had to switch units. This was our mistake due to ignorance of what we really needed. The staff was very accomdating. The next unit required a different elevator. There was no wait this time but it was not on the ground floor so the staff had to come out and lower it. They were were happy to do that for us. The unit we were assigned was already rented so we had to go back and get another unit. Once again, the staff was pleasnt andaccomodating. The third unit was available, dry and clean. So it worked out in the end. However what we thought would be a 30 minute unload and store turned into a 3 hour comedy of errors. The elevators were the biggest hassel. Through it the staff was very pleasant and helpful.

I then was charged an extra day rental and extra miles for my truck. I started a dispute and was never contacted back, every time I called in the person I needed to speak to was “out of town”. Not happy with my service received.
