The truck I got was NOT safe to drive. The owner didn't show up till 9:45 am for us to pick up the truck, mean while pick-up is for 9 am. Had to call roadside to my home. Wasn't allowed to load truck till roadside got to home to check truck. Roadside finally got to home at 1:45 pm, he drove truck on side street only. Can back and said needs New pump of something but said "SHOULD make it to whitby from Barrie." Here's my number just incase you run into any problems cause I'm from Ajax. The damn truck shook, had serious vibration and the jolts and omg had to drive with 4 ways on as could not go over 30km, dashboard didn't light up n Turned off twice on the 400 highway. Called the roadside guy at 8pm to let hi. Know of the bigger issues of truck losing power. I was told if it happened again We would have to call for a tow. Now with that being said, we thought if we call a tow, we would have to unload truck and reload again. Totally insane. Finally got to Warden n Kingston road at 10:45 pm. Drop truck off to sit till April 13th to hit Whitby our final destination. Picked up truck stalled twice while starting up. Drove to Whitby with 4 ways on due to the unsafe issues. Finally unloaded and brought back to location at 515 Taunton in Oshawa. Once again had to call into Roadside to let them know about this unsafe truck to open another ticket. Mind you..Roadside knew on Monday April 8th and April 9th and April 13th. When speaking with the lady from Roadside My son was told that someone from head office will call me within 3 days and no money would be taken out of my account until this was closed. Well do believe it cost me $219.22 for rental of a unsafe 26 foot truck and when dropped off at location to see a email receipt of another $93.16 taken out of my bank account. Now I am beyond passed I call CS April 14th. Spoke to OMAR who was unprofessional. He told me he called John the manager from head office who was dealing with this matter 3 times but unfortunately he didn't answer. As I continued to speak with Omar the lies I kept catching him in, I had no choice to hang up. So now I sit back and wait for JOHN to call me. I have videos and pictures of this unsafe vehicle. Not only did Uhaul put my son at risk of driving this, but they put many others on that Highway 400 n highway 401 and the side streets to whitby at risk. I am totally disgusted!!!!! Been a nightmare from start to finished. Oh yes when picked up truck, the back of truck was opened n smelt like human pee. Was not inspected from the store pickup. In the many years I have used Uhaul this is my last. I will now hire movers.

I was really disappointed that there was no jack to help lift the trailer. The employee on site was not strong enough to lift it on his own, which left my elderly father having to do it. There was no mention of this when renting it.

Incorrect mileage outbound led to a discrepancy on the invoice. I was over charged. The clerk wasn't sure how to resolve the problem, but in the end was resolved. Alot of discrepancies on the invoice from U.S conversions to Canadian.

Make sure the supplied equipment for the car trailer is in good shape. One strap was cust shorter and barley made it to the ratchet. Also, ratchets hard to use, due to winter corrosion. Also, there has to be better communication between the dealer and head office. I had head office ask me if I still had the trailer, the day after I had dropped it off. To make it worse, they whent ahead and charged me for an extra day, too. This company is convient to have in town but, they seem disorganized.

Terrible experience. The uhaul agent had no idea how to check out the equipment to me, he had to get someone on video chat to walk him through it. I didn’t get paper copies of the contracts, never walked around the truck to ensure that there was no damage. The gas on the one contract was higher than what was in the truck so I asked him about it and his reply to me was that it’s what the computer populated and he didn’t input it.

Avoid this pickup location, gas gauge was not correct on the invoice, got extra charge after returning the truck. Ordered 12 moving blankets,, received only 4-5 and after returning the truck they charged me for the missing ones $48. The guy at the pickup didn’t make any notes how many he have me. I had to call the main office to complain to get refund. Not honest pickup location or just careless.

Clerk was knowledgeable enough, but the place doesn't open til 9:30 am instead of nine on U-Haul brochure, so you have to wait around for a half hour.

I know you give an estimated bill to begin with and charge my credit card, I received my correct bill on line ,but very slow in charging the correct amount and giving me my refund Apart from that every thing is fine

Did not know where the parking brake was located in the cargo van. Usually it is on the floor as a pedal. You should point this out to the customer. Brakes need some servicing. They stick a little when you release them.

It stated I was getting a 5x9 trailer but it was only 4x9. Still managed to make things work. Easy to rent, equipment was in good shape and the electrical and chains were perfect for the job - trying to rent from Home Depot failed due to massive hook for the chains which would not work on my vehicle.

Van was decent and everything except a bit dirty inside and had a bad smell. When I used the mobile service, either the app was very slow or the connection in the area was bad. Took a long time and some reloading of the app to get the pictures uploaded and fill out the information. It was about the same when dropping it off.

0 stars would be more appropriate! Absolutely worst experience with U-Haul. My reservation was for 9am when the store was supposed to open. No one showed up until after 10am. No apology, no discount offered, totally unacceptable customer service. Do not recommend this location if you are on a timeline! Luckily I double checked the truck’s gas level and mileage before leaving the store as both were not in alignment with the app. Gas was a 1/4 tank lower and mileage was 300km+ higher on the app than what was indicated on the dash and they don’t let you amend it. Would have been a very expensive in-town move at $19.95 + $1.40 per Km. Truck was not very clean and very poorly maintained, more so than usual. Tire pressure and serval engine warnings were present. Overall, less than acceptable experience.

you should either do everything on line or nothing I entered information 3 times and still would not have picked up the rental unless the dealer had shown up in person. You never answer your phone line so I would suggest you eliminate it. Also pick up location was changed 3 times. I don't bash companies online but really guys the experience was awful

My truck was downsized from a 26' one to a 15' one less than 24 hours before I picked it up. I had to call Uhaul to get a bigger truck for the move. All they had within an hour of me was a 20' truck. I had to drive an extra 30 kms to pick it up. I chose online pick-up for 8am, but the Uhaul dealer never left keys in the lock box for me. I called Uhaul central dispatch, waited on hold for about 15 mins to speak with someone. They could not help me they said. I called the location number and finally got a hold of the owner who said he was on his way in. I waited until 9:15 am for him to show up and finally give me the keys. He said he didn't know that I had a rental for 8 am and his location doesn't do that before opening. I asked why he had lock boxes then and he then blamed Uhaul for not letting him know about my rental. He said my rental is at 9am at that location and my Uhaul app was magically update to say 9am pickup instead of 8am. When I returned my truck and checked out using the Uhaul app, the app froze for over 5 mins. and then my rental was no longer showing in the app. I was not sure it checked out properly or not. I'm giving it two stars because the truck at least was in working condition, although 6' too short for what I ordered and needed. Overall this was not a good experience at all, especially on a moving day where I had people lined up to help and had to be out of a house asap that day. I would not recommend Uhaul or this location to anyone.

Better communication would be a start! Our rental was changed on us 4 times. Different locations and some changes very last minute… to the point if we had not checked our email randomly, we never would have known about them. The type of vehicle was changed on us and then we got back our original rental. When we called to find out what was going on your representatives, couldn’t care less about what was happening or the dilemma it was putting us in. We then had to drive a half an hour from our home and pay those kilometres back-and-forth for the rental. When the original rental we had was Less than a five minute drive away. I would be very hard-pressed to rent from U-Haul again. And will let our friends know of our experience as well. your company caused a lot of unneeded stress in our lives, and left us scrambling.

The truck I had reserved had been rented out to another customer. We were told that the customer knew to have the truck back for us. But it was not there. We had to take a smaller vehicle which made my move a lot more stressful then it needed to be. The person behind the counter said it wasn't his fault as he let the other customer know when the truck had to be back. No accountability. Very dissatisfied

I've probably been scammed at this location. Delivered my U-Haul truck after hours at this location after refueling. Was charged $90 for gas the next day and the fuel indicator showed much lower in the receipt. I filled in $65 worth of gas and have a receipt, but unfortunately do not have a picture of the mileage and fuel level at the time of delivery. I've either been scammed at this location or someone stole fuel from the truck after hours. Definitely not going back here.

The gas reading was marked as starting with 1/4 tank of gas. The first thing I did was check the gauge and at best it was at 1/8 tank. I put $20 in the tank before I started loading the truck and it was still not up to 1/4 tank. After loading and unloading the truck I put in another $12 to get the gauge at 1/4 tank. Twenty miles cost me $32. I might use U haul again, if I can't find another truck rental near me.

I drove max 30km in the truck returned it after 16 hours was lied to about the insurance rate and charged double what my original quote was that I did online that when picking up was told didn’t exist and my phone number didn’t exist either had to cancel and get charged double to the original quote I am not happy with this kind of treatment

what to do? to make sure that people don't drive 100 km from Toronto for Yu-haul. At first, you get one address from where to pick up a U-Hall, you hope that you will have enough time and money, and on the day when you need to pick up a U-Hall, they push you a pig and send you to a completely different address 100 km from Toronto, and the person who paid more than $6,000 still has to out of pocket paying for Uber to get to Innisfil plus paying for gasoline at U-Haul to get back. I do not recommend

Truck available was half the size of the one requested, reserved a dolly and none was available, had to pay double in mileage and gas due to the only truck available was half the size of what was reserved, requested a 7:30 AM pickup to only get a truck available at 9:00 AM. Got a “my apologies” for all the inconvenience. Great service UHaul! Stay away from UHaul

Include a short compulsory video training about the features of the truck including how to turn the key to get the truck started or some basic things to do with some common challenges because Uhaul trucks may be different from other vehicles. This will avoid or reduce drivers calling for mobile mechanics or road side assistance which will save Uhaul money and save drivers or customers time.

Absolutely terrible service. If I had a choice to not choose uhaul ever again, I would. This is what happens when a company has monopoly of one way drop off that I am forced to choose them just so I can move. We "reserved" a u-haul truck 10 days before the move and 2 days before the move, we were notified that the pick location has been changed and that the closest truck is an hour away from our original pick up location. After a long and challenging conversation of asking them if they have any other option or if someone else can drive the truck down, they said no, that service doesn’t exist so we had no choice but to accept the pick up an hour away and get there on our own dime. (Thanks uhaul for giving us an extra 100km to do your work) We made the drive an hour away to use their well-advertised 24/7 truck pick up to only get there with the truck unlocked on the lot, but no key to be found. The IT agent told us that the key may not have been returned or they weren’t sure where the key could be but it was not in the drop box. So here we are 9:30pm in an empty lot on the phone with customer service for 30 mins just for them to tell us that they can’t do anything on their end and for us to drive home and come back tomorrow morning. Feeling defended and upset, we had no choice but to drive home an hour away and then drive back first thing in the morning. We get there right at their indicated opening hour to only have the uhual guy NOT show up to work and we had to call uhaul again for them to call the owner and to tell us that the person is LATE and will be here in another 20 minutes. All in all said, because of this disaster of a situation, we lost our hired movers to move because by the time we got the truck and drove back an hour away, our booking for our movers had ended. We escalated for a customer complaint and they told us that they have resolved the complaint after giving us a $50 refund. And that each reservation can only open ONE complaint and that this was basically it. Nothing more they can do and we will not be compensated more or can even talk to anyone higher up in the food chain. Talking about about customer service, uhaul is a business that does not care about their customers. I wonder what a uhaul executive would do if they were put in our place and had to deal with what we had to go through and to only get $50 back and hours wasted.

It was a terrible experience picking up the trailer. I arrived at the location which was basically an 8x8 room. There were broken computers spread all over the floor. There were 5 or 6 Jamaican migrant workers crammed in the room and I had to rub elbows with them while tripping over computer parts to get to the counter. After the man processed my credit card, he pointed outside to where the trailer was. He wouldn’t assist me with hooking it up. It was a car transporter. It was in very poor condition and I had to pick up a very expensive car with it. I couldn’t imagine a female customer having to go into that location. I was scared and I’m a large man. Never again!

I had nothing but frustration by my entire uhaul experience On July 8th the 20 foot truck I reserved was revoked and someone took my truck even tho I did not cancel my truck. Canadas ATM interact and debut and banks and Rogers were down for a day which caused issues. I was promised a different truck of 20 and unlimited kms upto 900km Theb I had to spend a week in hotel because of uhaul messing up On the weekend of July 15 I again went to get my truck and was informed a hour before pick up that it would be a 10’ not a 20’ So then was promised more kms and it was then unlimited. As I had to travel many times because of the truck size change. Then I see you guys billed me another 300 The Wayne’s auto repair claimed I didn’t clean the truck I had 3 single moms clean that truck. Swept the back and everything. It truly was a terrible experience trying to use uhaul and I don’t see myself recommending uhaul to anyone or using them again

I was supposed to pick up the 9’ cargo van at 9:00 am but nobody was there. After 20 minutes or so there were a few of us waiting. Finally we’ll after 10:00 somebody showed. It put me about 1.5 hours behind schedule for the day. I will not likely rent from U-Haul again.

reserved a truck for 11:30 AM pick up, I arrived and the vehicle was not there. The truck was not returned until 12:30 PM (1 hour late). As a result, I was not able to complete my move as planned and needed to rent the truck for 2 days vs. returning it same day. The customer service rep showed no empathy regarding the situation and I was forced to pay for 2 day rental. Terrible experience and poor example of customer experience.
