the owner or manager , an man my age approx 66, was so helpful an having to operate the convince gas store at same time , he does very well, just the fact of this man is why I came back for a second rental an potentially more, the only issue is unable to drop off trailer as in app as I have with multiple Modesto ,CA locations. so I can explore my time. an not having to wait till opening time , one other issue is when I tried calling to info this location that I was running late , the number listed go to a fax machine , I the. has to get the uhaul national person involved ton get into the this location , again the man that serviced me went above so many. an I told him so face to face , respectfully Mr purcell. U-Haul made it VERY clear I needed to return the 26' truck to this location or else I'd be charged a fee. My usual location is a full-blown U-Haul store and easy to access. The location I was required to return the truck can only be accessed by a particular route (you can only make a right turn in), and it is part of an Exxon gas station. I returned the truck and headed inside, but once inside there are so many racks of items for sale by the Exxon food mart that you can't easily see the location of the U-Haul counter. The gas station attendant told me where to drop the appliance blankets, and that's where I could almost see the U-Haul counter. I dropped the blankets and then the attendant told me to leave the truck key with him. I asked him three questions to which he simply said he did know the answer, and then he finally said, "I'm not a U-Haul employee, the U-Haul guy is not here right now." Why not state that at the outset? Why am I being required to return the truck to a site that doesn't have U-Haul personnel available? I used the app to return the truck and at least it worked better than during the pickup.

This was a gas station with one attendant that did not appear well versed with renting UHaul equipment. He had to call a UHaul representative for specific directions but then merely put his phone on speaker and handed it to me! Being hearing impaired this did not work well for me but we managed. Once my rental was arranged, he had to close the retail section if the gas station to attend to my rental. Though he provided some guidance, I had to connect the vehicle tow dolly myself. No paperwork or signatures were given, all was electronic. My inspection of the equipment found a few issues but it seemed nobody cared so I merely took pictures in case I was held to blame. Light fixture housings were cracked but operational, the emergency brake system was bent and non-operational (I had to bend the housing into normal position), and both tires proved to be low on air with one at nearly half its desired pressure and obviously bulged from the weight of just the dolly. This was the only such dolly in the lot and I’d already been misdirected to the Dublin CA UHaul to pick this up and was told they never have such equipment. I was told I would see a $50 discount applied to my credit card but could take 3-5 days to post. I filled the tires myself and proceeded with the move without further issue.

I requested to pick up at a different location and was not informed I was to pick up at the Exxon location until I arrived at the requested location. It took 30 minutes for the person to figure out who I was and what my order was. I was told my uhaul was upgraded from a 20 foot truck to a 26 foot truck without my consent. I was told I would not be charged for the change. I was then charged an extra 240 for the change and am still waiting for a refund. I don't appreciate the pick up location being changed without notifying me and being given a bigger truck without my consent to then be charged for Uhauls unilateral upgrade.

The attendant wouldn’t give me the equipment even though I had a reservation. He was rude and argued with me. When I was on the phone with the Uhaul rep the attendant refused to talk to him. When he finally gave me the equipment, he grabbed the phone from my hand to talk to the Uhaul rep and said, it is done and walked away. Will never rent anything from this location, or even get gas or buy anything, ever!

Had put all my information in on line ahead of time. Had to repeat everything again to the person "helping me" while selling gasoline, beer, and potato chips. He had to check on everything with someone else on the phone. Took an hour just to pick up the key for the truck. Very frustrating. Truck had damage on both sides, Made me wonder why I bought the insurance. Including gasoline the truck cost me $1000 for 12 hours of use. Outrageous price. Truck ran fine.

The gentleman at the front counter was very rude. We waited a very long time as someone else who wasn’t at the actual location was getting the order taken care of. Three separate phone calls had to be made by that person. The man on the phone stated that he had been locked out on his end some how. We were just handed a cell phone each time he would call. After my card was charged and a received a notification with the truck number I asked the gentleman if he could call back the other man so we could get on the road since we had been waiting so long. He refused and kept saying if he said he will call you back he will call back. He refused to make the call so we had to once again wait for an incoming call to his cellphone. He then just handed us the key and didn’t even direct us to the truck.

Improve your self checkin process. It’s slow, clunky, won’t accept photos that are crystal clear. Simply hitting cancel allowed me to proceed. Slow agent verification. Your partner locations like this gas station don’t know anything about U-Haul and adds just another unpleasant experience to the overall poor experience. Will probably rent from another company in the future because of this.

As a long time and loyal customer of U-haul, this was by far the worst experience. The 26' truck was filthy inside, smelled of cigarettes, no windshield washer fluid, poor headlights, no furniture pads, quarter tank of gas, and unclean in the bed of the truck. We made a 22+ hour trek and was very disappointed in paying over $4400 to have a terrible experience.

The truck appears to have been used to haul garbage. The assistant in the morning needed to call his manager for the check in so the check in process was quite long. A different person was there in the afternoon. He was not courteous.

the fuel surcharged seemed very excessive billed $24 to cover fuel for 13.8 miles of driving I couldn't notice any change in the fuel gauge comparing before and after pictures, other than that everything went smoothly

The attendant was asleep and move slower than a snail. He also said he would help carry out the moving blankets and did not. The truck was in so dirty inside the cab and back. the defroster did not work properly and spewed looks like heater coil fluid all inside the truck cab. This caused many delays and we ended up having to stop 2 days due to the fact that we could not see out the window. Horrible experience with this truck and the fact that we paid so much for this rental is unacceptable.

there was no one there to help hook up the trailer as there was only the gas station attendant and they couldn't leave there place behind the register. Most of the hook ups safety chains were missing the rubber connector that prevents them from unhooking on their journey so we had to use them from another trailer.

It worked but being new at driving a 26 ft truck it would have been helpful if the truck didn't need to be reversed out of the driveway. I did the photo review on my phone and the photos listed appeared to be different with less damage on the truck. The website was easy to add in new photos of the truck. It would have been nice if the cup holder in the truck worked.

Reserved U-Haul over a month ago. Even confirmed it earlier this week. Showed up right as the store open. No trucks at all. Had time drive farther to pick up a truck. More mileage. What was supposed to be a 5 mile round trip turned out to be be 40 miles round trip. Returned the truck and the guy told me to just take a snap shot of my own contract with his signature. That made me wary given my entire experience. Wound up doing my own self return online. First time renting from U-Haul and most likely the last. Absolutely crappy service and no honoring a reservation.

Better training for your staff. The customer ahead of me tried to help him with the computer but your staff member clearly was struggling. When it was my turn, he was asking questions that were already on the reservation like pick up location, then asked for a credit card even though it was already paid for online.

Checkout process was slow and I had already done all the pre-visit things I was supposed to. They did not have all the blankets requested so I was sent to another location to get the remainder of what I had paid for, and they sent me to a third location (5555 Sunol Bl. Pleasanton, CA 94566). In total, it took about 90 minutes to get on my way. I would have rather just gone to the Pleasanton location in the first place as they had much more available in supplies.

I had requested a dozen moving pads on initial order. They were never in the truck and I never received them. Yet you show on the invoice I requested 18 and that you gave me 18. This is incorrect and needs to be adjusted/credited. Also, the truck was very dirty inside cab and the storage area. Before loading my things I had to full sweep and clean what every burned charcoal/fireplace ashes were on the floor or my furniture could have been stained. You do have a large sticker that states a $25 cleaning fee. I hope you charged the last driver. Windows were very dirty and film on inside making it hard to see. Seal around passenger door was laying on the seat. Apparently it fell off.

First off, we had a 9 AM reservation. The representative arrived late. The van we rented was broken, We started it, the low oil pressure light came on, and the van died about 1/4 mile from where we picked it up. We called for assistance and were give a 1 800 Go UHAUL number to call for help. We never got through. Fortunately a police officer arrived and pushed us to a safe place. We returned and substituted a truck for the broken van. The tire pressure lights came on. The tires were fine, but why did the light come on? I was told that this light tends to pop on with this particular truck, but why wasn't I told in advance? I will rent with Penske in the future.

Check in process was a bit confusing, especially getting the additional items that I'd rented, like the moving cart. Our Uhaul truck was missing the furniture pads it was supposed to come with, so I had to rush to home depot and buy some before my moving helpers arrived.

Checked in online and it still took 20 minutes at the gas station. The truck was filthy. I might not have been cleaned in a year. There was soda everywhere. So sticky. Truck drove fine. No mechanical issues.

I did online check in when i got there it said to get key on counter. i came in the guy made me wait then helped other customers waited 20 min then he asked for my ID handled that and then gave me the key. The truck had less then 1/2 tank of gas hasd to fill it up. not what website says and what i expected

When they gave the agreement they gave the mileage wrong, specifically told them it has to be updated. They said they’ll update, but they never did. I drove for about 20 miles from 79598 to 59618, but in the receipt it’s still coming as starting at 79575. looks like they’re misusing the returned vehicles for their own purposes. Should’ve gone to a proper uhaul location instead of this place. I wouldn’t recommend this location to anyone at all. I always had excellent experience with uhaul but this location is shady and spoiled uhaul reputation for me

Terrible experience with this location. I made a mistake regarding my contract for the trailer and was told specifically by the distributor that they would be able to work with me to help me in my situation. He gave me his personal number to contact him, and then ignored my calls over the next 24 hours. I had to cut my rental short and then re-rent a different trailer through an official location. And on top of that, I spoke with Customer Support for their help too. After being on hold for 45 minutes (which I understand), I dealt with an agent who was clearly very annoyed and had no intention of helping me at all. Overall terrible experience. If it wasn't for a significant NEED of using the platform, I don't believe I'll be using Uhaul ever again

The only reason why I'm providing a lower rating for this location is because it was an hour drive away from our home. We spent a couple hours having to drive there and back. We did appreciate Dave giving us an extra 100 miles for the truck, to ensure that we wouldn't exceed the mileage limitation.

I reached this location at 2 pm and started Mobile checkin and finished checkin in 10 minutes. As per the instruction I went to counter to get the key and I was told by gas station employee has gone on lunch and will be back at 3 pm. Then I chatted with u haul employee Samantha . She was very rude and told me that she can’t do anything about that and told me to go to another u haul center to get different truck or call the scheduling manager . I was really disappointed and still waiting for the employee to come. The employee came at 2.45 and he asked for my credit card and I’d again even though I told him I finished mobile checkin. He said still I need bcos computer says not paid. Any way gave him the credit card again then he said ok it’s paid and gave me the key. The employee was not wearing the mask also. Vehicle was clean but ac was not working. I feel my experience with u haul was very unpleasant .

The truck smelled of smoke and clearly hadn’t been cleaned before I got it. There’s was empty bottles, chips, and debris. The truck worked well though. The counter help was inviting and helpful
