The app-based pickup was a forced choice. I had a confirmed reservation at Wxpress Rental in Kanab and was informed 1.5 days in advance that the pick-up location would be at Crosby in Kanab. On contacting Crosby I was told that they had no available trucks and could not guarantee that they would have one either. I then called UHaul reservations and was told that the closest location was in Hilldale, 45 miles away and that it would have to be a 20-foot truck, instead of the 10-foot truck I had reserved. The pick-up process via your app—which I had to download in order to get the truck was a real hassle. The map directions to Hilldale Storage took me to a location that was 4 miles away from the pick up location. I had to call UHaul and get directions. It took me 55 minutes to and another phone call to UHaul for help to get my reservation approved, and to get on the road. As a result I was late for my merchandise pick up and delivery appointments. When I arrived to pick up my merchandise, I realized that neither the hand truck nor the blankets I had ordered were on the truck. I strained my back trying to wrestle heavy appliances onto and off the truck. Fearing I would be charged for the hand truck, I went back to Hilldale to see If I could locate someone to give me the hand truck. No one was there. I tried calling Hilldale Storage voia the number on the app, but was given the message “this number has too many forwarding numbers to connect your call.” Thankfully the problem was rectified by the friendly people at Crosby. After three more phone calls to U Haul by them and me. In other words, from start to completion of this rental I was repeatedly frustrated, confused, and confronted with unnecessary and unexpected problems.
