I was told on the phone by uhaul that my reservation wasn't available for Mahopac pick up and drop off in Cortlandt Manor. She change the reservation to be round-trip from Yorktown for $19.95 plus 30 miles included. Everything else was the same and correct except I did not get the free 30 miles. I would like to be credited for the 30 miles that I was quoted. I'm upset that my reservation was changed as well but accepted it because I needed to move out Saturday sept 5. Attendant is not friendly and does not respect the customer's time. Although I checked in on line as encouraged and just needed the key, he also made me go through the whole process again.
They take to long and trying to check online dont work
The owner of the facility on 3541 Crompond Rd. in Yorktown, was extremely rude. Before returning the rental they told me there was no flexibility with the rental timing. I understood that the original timing entered was an estimate, based on the application. Secondarily I rented moving blankets. Upon returning them, I was told one was missing, however, i checked my entire premises and I did not have an extra blanket. When I informed him of this he got nasty with me and said you must pay $10.00. I told him, that a mistake was made and he was unyielding in his position. Furthermore, when I filled up the gas, he said I had to pay more money, because it was slightly below the amount it had when I rented it. This was simply not true and thankfully I had taken a picture before leaving, and I showed it to him, and at that point he backed off. Though initially he asserted that I must have just taken the photo. All in all, I would never rent a Uhaul from that facility, and would appreciate, at a minimum, a refund for the blankets, as I was fraudulently charged for them. Though, that alone is not enough based on my experience or lack thereof.
Staff member was rude and acted as though he was doing me a favor. Also took care of other customers in between closing out my transaction.
Terrible service. This is a gas station. The man was extremely rude. He would not answer any questions, yelled at me because I was reading the contract while he was eating his lunch. Was not wearing a mask, would not make Eye contact, talked very fast and I could not understand a lot of what he was saying because of language barrier. I believe he had a big problem dealing with women. If I have to use this location again, I will use another company. Persons name is Dalit Singh. FYI when I ordered the van the confirmation told me it was a self checkout at the Cortlandt Town Center and then the morning of pickup I was given this location.
The attendant was not helpful. He did not check the vehicle prior to me leaving ( no inspection) I had to remind him that I rented a dolly.
I had asked for packing blankets and paid for them but there were none in the vehicle. Don't charge them for services that are not provided please!
the check was too slow and intrusive
I had a lot of problems with this location. I did not want insurance but they claimed they couldn't take it off, and gave me the wrong phone # to U-haul. They refused to void and issue another contract. They had my ID but wouldn't give me the truck without the name and number of a friend or family member. They recorded the mileage incorrectly, as well as, the time I took the vehicle, and refused to correct it. They pretended to call U-haul and didn't. They wasted time roaming around the store rather than moving the transaction along. It was a nightmare. I will never do business with them again, and maybe not U-haul since they represent them. I plan to file a formal complaint.
The first van we were assigned was damaged (the window would not roll up) so we had to switch to another van that was available, but when I tried to adjust it on the mobile pick-up process it kept showing me an error message. I called a UHaul rep who was very helpful, but we spent over a half hour trying to figure out how to check out online and figure out the new van situation. Overall, it worked out in the end but definitely took much longer than it should have.
The attendants did not speak English very well.My daughter made arrangements to get her belongings from Uhaul storage,she did not receive a call as promised.She called them and they said the container could not be accessed,NO FORKLIFT driver.I had already rented a Uhaul van.I put $20 of gas in,drove (NINE) 9 miles and returned the van.I want a refund or credit,otherwise I will contact the BBB and the state Attorney General.You can probably sense my displeasure with Uhaul at this time.
Terrible service. Unrealistic expectations of what clean is
The pickup ran smoothly. The equipment was just what I reserved and worked well. The only problem was, when I returned the vehicle, I noticed I had been charged a $20 After Hours fee even though I picked up my truck at noon and returned it the following day at noon. When I complained about it, it took two employees more than 20 minutes to reverse the charge.
Not much. I was flawless. The gas station where the cars are kept is not in great shape. The gas distributors are kept together with duct tape, and most of them did not accept a credit card. The place needs a work-over. Otherwise, the people are pleasant.
I am very disappointed in Uhaul. I reserved a truck at the Peekskill location Sunday at 5PM at 79 cents per mile. When I arrived tbe place was closed. When I call custom service i was told to pick up the truck in Yorktown and it will be 99 cents per mile. I live in Peekskill and I was moving items in Peekskill. I paid approximately $15.00 more because of the chsnge of pick up location and change of price. SHAME ON UHAUL!!!!.
What a horrible experience. Truck broke down 25 miles from my destination, fully loaded. The combination of poor customer service from Uhaul's towers was astonishing. I broke down at 5 pm and was by the roadside for FIVE hours, chained to the inept idiots who were supposed to be helping me. I will never rent from Uhaku again.
Be friendly. Even just a little bit. Even just replying to a hello or how are you with something as simple as a nod instead of making the customer feel ignored and devalued.
The clerk was less than friendly, he was more interested in the international programming he was watching than my reservations. I was having difficulty with the contact less pick and I had to call the 1800# He did not do anything to help.
I am female . 26 year old woman . The two men that own this gas station / U-Haul pick up are not quick to help . There is no cellular service at the station and no available WiFi to complete the mobile contactless check in . Took over 30 minutes for them to figure out my reservation( which was pre booked and paid for ) whilst taking care of every other customer before handling my U-Haul order - this is a convenience store / gas station . More time to Get the dolly and moving blankets I had ordered and made me carry them out. Maybe that's protocol not too sure . The attendants were not wearing masks . And after I got the keys I got into the rental rolled down windows and removed my mask : at which point the attendant ran to my truck . Proceeded to open the door - with no mask and almost touch me to demand I get out of the truck -someone had left their phone in there . I said get out . Looked down . Saw the previous renters cellphone and handed it to the man . I am disgusted at the behavior that I was greeted with . After realizing I no longer needed the U-Haul rental I returned it within 20 minutes of picking it up . Drove 10 miles . Did not even open the back end of the truck . They demanded I could only call U-Haul to change my drop off location from one way back to local : again no service . . A refund of $310 is due I was only refunded $233( which I have yet to see back in my bank acct.) after over an hour on the phone a representative realized that customer service was closed for the night @7 pm ... it now being 8:15 pm I was not too pleased . I go inside and instruct the U-Haul rental men that they need to change my reservation to a local drop off so I could return the equipment there same day , where I gas picked it up . They kept saying â€œ no you call U-Haul â€œ after finally getting the point across , nicely , that I had called and the woman on the phone said to just change it from one way to local drop off . He scowled at me said a lot of things in a different language ; not nicely . Such a big to do . I did not Try to upset anyone . It's nothing personal I simply did not need the rental. I would like contact from customer service please . I have used U-Haul for over 10 years and have never encountered such a problem .

Clean and well run truck. Concierge service would be great but that's probably asking too much. Heres the key and go get the truck yourself is most likely the best your gonna get. Otherwise, I recommend location. My second rental with no issues.
I did the online check-in. When I picked up the rental, the person at the location said they didn't have my check-in. I had to go through the whole process. Give my credit card, id. He wasn't wearing a mask. I was surprised no protocols were being followed. When I got in the van, there was an empty water bottle under the passenger seat. Didn't look like the inside was cleaned.
