The guy changed my paper work and is now charging me extra mileage. He asked me how long I was going to need the uhaul and based my mileage on the hours. Now I'm being charged extra for something. If we would have asked the mileage I would have told him. Maybe it's because he was on the phone the entire time instead of providing customer service. I was iffy about renting a uhaul before and now I will never do it again.

To whom it may concern I am writing to express a concern during my experience with U-Haul. We had originally places a reservation online back in September 2017 for the move on November 4, 2017. We were moving my grandma from Florida to South Carolina so I was doing all the planning and reservations. The original reservation was in my name and my grandma was going to be the one financially responsible for the equipment once it was picked up. On the day they were going to pick up the equipment Friday November 03 I received call from the pick-up location prior to the pick-up time asking if we were still going to be picking up our reserved equipment. I told him that yes they would be there to pick up the equipment. I then talked to my grandma and my cousin that was going to be driving the truck to see what the ETA was and he said that he was in Orlando and it was about 4 p.m. so they would have plenty of time to get there. However, the traffic they were stuck in was the plane that had made an emergency landing in the middle of I4 and they sat in that traffic for several hours. We knew the store they were picking up from was open until 7 so they arrived in Winter Haven at 6:30 and went straight over to pick up the equipment. When they got there the guy at the store Havendale Chevron (053060) 2049 Havendale Blvd NW Winter Haven, FL 33881. The guy they started telling my grandma that he couldn’t give her the deal that I had reserved already and completed most of the check-in for. The only thing that she needed to do was give her drivers licenses and give the gift certificate and pay. Well she decided that she didn’t want the trailer to haul her car so that would have reduced her bill a little. That is when my grandma called me and told me what was going on so I got on the phone with the guy and tried to understand his broken English. He then created a whole new reservation that we ended up having to use (contract No.96288631)(Equip:JH2869M, KO 0825J). He changed our drop off location which would have run us over our allowed miles and it would have increased our price. I told the guy that he needed to leave our reservation as we had it and we would deal with whatever we had to on the drop end. During the time he was on my grandma’s cell phone with me he kept walking away from her while he had her credit card and her cell phone in his hand. She then starting getting worried. As he walked them to the equipment he was on the phone with someone and my grandma could hear him say to someone “Did you fix it? Did you really fix it?” She became concerned that she was picking up faulty equipment. They finally got the equipment and signed everything after one and a half hours of back and forth due to his inconsistency’s. During travel they began to notice the truck was making strange noises during the trip. When they got to South Carolina with the truck it was making really bad noises when turning the wheel. 1.Not change reservations to increase in store revenue. This was the beginning of all the issues that arose from my experience with this store. 2. Also a training class for all associates employed at this location. No one gave me a staight answer. I had to call Uhaul customer service multiple times to get assistance. 3. Cleanliness matters. The Uhaul itself was dirty and had left over trash from the previous renters. 4. Monthly, Quarterly vehicle maintenance The Uhaul itself sounded like it needed to be serviced. The engine ran louder than normal & the transmission stalled quite a bit when progressing through the speeds. 4. Customer Focus/Empathy Customer service is about the customer. The male employee told me he wasnt going to help me because I had an attitude. Issue is I had been in the store for about an hour trying to get a uhaul when I had reserved the uhaul online and utilized the convenient (not so convenient that day) online check in to reduce my wait time by 30 minutes. This experience was a disaster and stressful on top of me having to move.

I was told there was a problem with my reservation and my credit card was needed again. It took almost an hour for the person to rent me the truck. And I was charged more and had less miles than my original quote. I was 2 and a half hours from home and needed to get my things moved that day. I was told by the person I would be able to return the truck to any U-haul location when I returned it I was charged another $30 for returning it to the wrong place. I disputed the charges and am still waiting for a call from customer service

The address where all this happened is 2049 Havendale Blvd NW, winter haven Florida, 33881.The owner of the store was a total jack ass! I went in to get a quote on a rental truck.The lady behind the counter couldn't help me because she didn't know how to run the system and had to call her husband. After a twenty minute wait for him to arrive, I again asked for a quote on truck. He immediately asked for my credit info, which I thought was weird for just asking about a quote. After he told me the price, I asked him to wait a few minutes while I called my wife to discuss it. When I came back from my call, he had already ran all of my information. I told him that I didn't need the rental anymore and needed to cancel. At this point, he started yelling how I wasted his time and that I was going to take the truck. Again, after I stated that I didn't need the truck anymore, he kept yelling about how he was going to charge me a cancellation & a service charge for wasting his time. When I asked what the service charge was for, he yelled that is was for him having to leave his other job and deal with me. I told him that his hours of operation say that truck rental is open till 11pm and it's not my fault that his employees don't know how to do it, causing him to come down.He kept yelling about how I wasted his time and he is charging me for it. This was totally unprofessional and he should not be able to treat costumers this way and should lose his license. After everything that happened, I looked up a review on this place and found out that it has a history of charging people without their permission.
