Went to Westlake. Needed a 6X12 enclosed. They didn’t have but reserved one from Agoura. Went there the next day and they didn’t have one. Westlake reserved a 6x12 open. Manager then checked and found a 6X12 enclosed at Westlake. Had to go back there and get. Nobody there to hook up. Had to hook up my self. Poor service.

The vehicle was not properly post tripped from the previous renter. The cargo space was full of used furniture pads. None of which I ordered or needed. Actually, they were in the way!

Both attendants, she who checked me out and he who checked me back in, were delightful. The young woman, of African-American persuasion for lack of a better identifier, was efficiant, jolly and funny. The young man who checked me back in was equally funny, jovial and efficient. Good employment choices both; please give them both raises!

My earlier rental for a day 2 months prior had gone very smoothly and quickly but my recent checkout of a 4-day rental truck from the same location took over an hour due to four of us customers waiting in line and mainly because of the one customer who had big contractual issues about her truck rental return.. . As far as truck maintenance goes, the truck exterior was quite dirty and I had to also wait while the sole attendant surveyed the truck, applied numerous "nicks and scrape" stickers, and then watch him sweep out the truck box. (You'd think that all of that would have been done before I got there to pick up the truck.) Not being washed/cleaned aside, I also wonder about the truck servicing as the truck dash indicated "0% Life of Oil" remaining when leaving Thousand Oaks, CA to go to Tucson, AZ (I assume that meant the truck was overdue for an oil change before I even left town.) So, the issues for this location might be summarized :as "Having only one person on duty at the Westlake Storage Solutions U-Haul facility may lead to unexpected long waits and inadequate truck preparation." As far as the drive itself from nearby Thousand Oaks to Tucson went, the truck was very easy to drive, tracked well, and the AC worked flawlessly. The truck return process at Tucson went very smoothly and quickly. Everyone was very pleasant and they immediately checked the truck back in.. In conclusion, despite the not-insignificant frustrations with the initial check-out of the truck, my overall rental experience was a good one and I'd recommend U-Haul for people's moving needs.

The car hauler I rented was old, dirty and malfunctioned. Both of the ramps were defective and the trailer did not track well. When we went to load it, we could not get one ramp out and the other came out but dropped on one side when weighted. We called for assistance but were told it would be at least an hour before a mechanic would come out. We asked for the nearest U-Haul Outlet and feor the CS rep to call and see if they had a mechanic who was available. The CS rep said she got no answer at the local outlet. So we took the trailer there and asked for one that worked. We were told they could not give us one because we did not have a one way rental. Their mechanic happened to be there and said he would try and fix the ramps. Eventually it would take 3 mechanics to resolve the problem with the stuck ramp and they could not duplicate the problem with the other ramp. (The mechanic theorized the trailer had been rear ended at some point which broke the welds on the ramp stoppers, bent the frame and caused the tracking issue as well.) The stuck ramp stuck two more times while we had the trailer and on its last use, the other ramp lost its connection on one side and dropped about 3 inches on one side causing the car on the trailer (which was being unloaded) to skew to the right causing damage to the right fender of the car. I rent these car trailers often and never had a problem like this before. In my opinion, this trailer needs a complete rehab before being rented again. When we turned it in, we advised the return outlet of the problems and they were very nice and courteous. They provided a refund and gave us information on how to file a claim for the damage to the vehicle.

I wasn't happy with the main call in number. The person neglected to tell me that the estimated time I gave actually locks me in and if I went over it, I would be charged another dqy's rate. That also went for returning the vehicle first thing the next morning, if the estimated time fell while the site was closed. It was only by me asking more questions did I find this out. This left a bad taste in my mouth. Also, the person told me safeplus covered me for $100k instead of $1 million. I almost didn't rent because of that. I had to find out on the website. So while I liked the equipment and pickup location I will think twice about renting again. The movers, Darren and Ryan were fantastic! Due to tech difficulties I have not been able to leave a review.
