Tweak the online reservation system. It was a bit confusing, but the personnel was right there to help straighten out the problem. Thankfully my pickup time was during the day when someone was onsite!!

We originally wanted to rent a 5x9 foot trailer with ramp. I was told there were none available. So we reserved a 6x12 foot. Even though we reserved ahead and checked in online, we still waited in excess of 30 minutes to get the trailer. We had to actually find it on the lot because the man assisting us couldn’t find it! We towed the trailer home, planning on using it only around 3 hours. We live literally 5 minutes from thecUHaul location. When we let the ramp down, my husband found that two of the ramp hinges were broken making the ramp unusable. We immediately close the ramp (with difficulty) to take the trailer back. We had it out for maybe 20 minutes. Nobody at UHaul had checked the function of the ramp before letting us rent it. On the way back to UHaul, the ramp slipped down below the broken hinges onto the road. This nearly caused an accident. When we got it back to their parking lot, one of the staff asked if WE had broken it. The manager did try to make it right, offering us a free rental as well as a $50 credit. However, we were told we’d have to pick the trailer up at a location 30-40 minutes away, in Troy. I let the clerk know I’d accept a smaller trailer from the original location and was told, ”well we have a bunch of those”. They rented me a 5x9 trailer (which was what I ORIGINALLY asked for) and sent us to the back lot again. We waited 20-25 minutes and no one came to hook us up. I called a phone number which sent me to UHaul corporate. She messaged the staff in the office that we were waiting. At that point, we saw an employee drive through the gate n his personal vehicle. He immediately approached our vehicle with a smile on his face stating, “folks, I’m not even punched in yet, but if you give me a minute, I’ll get you hooked right up so you don’t have to wait too long”. This man’s name was Tramone. Other than the manager (whose name I don’t recall) Tramone was the ONLY person who seemed to have it together enough to get us on our way. We truly appreciated his help and courtesy. Overall, we spent over 2 hours just trying to rent a trailer after having 4 people kept waiting who’d taken the day off work. The crowning touch was having the Troy location call us, asking when we would be picking up our rental because our location NEVER LET THEM KNOW WE WERE RENTING IT HERE IN WATERFORD!! This is not the first tome I’ve had a problem with this Waterford, Mi location. However, please make note that TRAMONE was excellent!

Desk agent stated to pull down to back lot and someone would meet me at gate. She never called anyone and after 20 minutes of waiting I had to find someone to help me. How is that customer service?? Additionally, desk agent (same female) was not welcoming or friendly. I understand people don’t like work but she could have greeted me with an actual “hello” when I walked in. On the other hand the black man who hooked up the trailer was phenomenal. He explained every step and was super nice. Had this man not been a part of the experience I would rate this location ‘poor’. This location seems to be going downhill more and more. I’ve been coming here for years with service gradually slipping but this last experience leaves me not wanting to return or recommend to friends. Definitely posting my review online on other sites.

The wait time was over 30 minutes despite having a reservation and one employee (3 others I saw were perfect and helpful but the one I got wasn't and no one corrected the employee I got) was complaining the whole time that she woke up late and barely made it to work and didn't want to deal with the computer system (aka internet) being slow and she was glad she was leaving soon. To be fair she was nice but what customer who is standing there for 30 mins to an hour trying to get a truck they already reserved waiting for a long day of hauling stuff wants to hear that? Anywhere for that matter, that is completely unprofessional. The kicker is I already heard her telling two other customers that so it's not like a one time vent. I thought customer service was supposed to be at least someone pretending to want to do their job. Other than that though at least I got the truck and dolly I reserved.
