1. The cube van length was mis-represented. I was told it was 15' but not told that that was length from front of the attic-over-cab length. This presented logistical problems with the volume of my move. 2. The vehicle was not maintained well. At 100KM/hr after 40 minutes on highway the plastic cowelling or underside of the front bumper almost came completely off from wind pressure and was banging the underside of the engine! I was able to pull over and found that only two of the 12 or so screws required were in place. I called roadside assistance and was told to leave a message. Fortunately, I was able to remove the cowling and continue, saving U-Haul a roadside service call. 3. The engine was poorly tuned and had little compression, mis-firing. At 122,000 Kms, this kind of vehicle should not be on the road without proper engine maintenance. 4. The agent was 40 minutes late Saturday morning when I arrived at the agreed pickup time of 7:30 to pick up the vehicle. 5. Finally, I was charged a $25 cleaning fee! The inside of van was fully swept out and the only items inside were the rented dolly and the bumper cowling. Overall, I am completely under-whelmed by U-Haul, its automated system and its poorly managed fleet and staff.

Staff at this location charged for extra fuel costs when the vehicle was returned by me with the same level of fuel that was in the tank initially. I have pictures of the mileage and fuel levels from before and after the rental to prove it. Very disappointed that they would take advantage of an after hours drop off by charging for a fuel fee when the customer is not there to confirm. Unacceptable!!

I found it difficult using the self service functions at this location as there was very little light and no shelter. It was dark and started raining when I was to pick up at around 7pm, which made things difficult for taking the photos. Some shelter and light would be great. Otherwise, the process was good and easy to follow. One suggestion - after checking out the vehicle using the prompts on the self-service webpage, it would be handy if there was a final prompt saying that you need to log back in to your account when you return the vehicle. I received an email saying I needed to log back in, but I didn't notice I had the email until after I had already returned the vehicle and got home. Knowing when finishing the check-out, that I need to log back in would be better than sending that information by email to ensure people know this is required. Particularly if it just for a short hire period, where yo may not be checking your email. Location is convenient to the TTC which is great. I would recommend for during the day only.

Rented a 17’ truck on September 9 for a 10:00am pickup at 5 Defries St. in Toronto on Sunday, October 1. Booked elevator for move-out for 10:30 of that day. Received a confirmation e-mail on September 9. On Saturday, September 30 at 9:40am (24 hours and 20 minutes before scheduled truck pick-up time), I received a call from the uHaul location telling me they don’t open until 11:00am on Sunday and that is when I can pick up the truck. Yet my booking for a 10:00am pick-up was made and confirmed three weeks prior, and my elevator had been booked for 10:30. I was told nothing could be done. So I called customer service and spent one hour and fifteen minutes on hold or being transferred to different departments. Every person I spoke to transferred me somewhere else until I spoke to a lady named Dolores, who was wonderfully patient. Still no problems were solved though, until finally I spoke to a customer service rep in my region. She gave me a $50 credit and told me she booked me a 17’ truck for 10:00am pick-up at a different location that would be open at that time. Received an e-mail confirmation of such an arrangement. Later that day I received another e-mail confirmation of a 15’ truck being booked for me, so I called the other location (1668 Queen St. W., Toronto) but nobody answered. I called them back 6 more times that day and yet nobody ever answered the phone, even though I checked business hours online and ensured I was calling during business hours. On moving day I showed up at 10:00am to pick up the 17’ truck I ordered and sure enough, all they had for me was a 15’ truck. Extremely dissapointed with the customer service and being made to stress and deal with sorting out a booking that I made and had confirmed three weeks ahead of time. Very very bad experience!

I gave such a poor rating do to the fact you didn't have the equipment I actually reserved. Knowing that this was a out of town move, U-Haul, you asked me to travel an extra 6 hours, 3 each way, to get the size of truck I actually rented. Now I will have to rent yet another truck to finish the job. Not to mention the 9 hour round trip I have to make again. Next time I use Discount

The truck was well maintained, safe, and drove very well. The person/persons that rented the truck at least a few days before I did had a cat. I could tell that the kitty had an accident. The cab still smelled but with the windows down it was OK. The box of the truck was tidy. The guys behind the counter were friendly and courteous.

Tried to use your online pick up process, there were two other people attempting the same thing. Terrible process, long waits for a response, pictures are never right forcing multiple repeats, we all had the same issues. Ended up using the location agent to pick up truck. Location attendant was great, considering these locations are all understaffed. taking phone calls, checking in and out of vehicles etc etc, too much for one person to provide a pleasant experience. Truck was banged up, driver window would not roll down, vehicle required an oil change. This is a small location, hence the better than average rating. Larger locations have higher volumes and still only one agent. Time to staff up at the counters.

Never never never use this Queen Street location. It took the guy a half an hour to find my reservation on the computer and another half hour to retrieve the truck from his crowded, disgustingly dirty parking lot. We got in the truck and wondered WHAT THAT TERRIBLE SMELL was ??? But we were an hour behind schedule now, so we drove the five minutes to my house to load up. 3 hours later the truck was loaded and my moving buddy searched the cab to find out what that smell could be as we were going to drive 2 hours in it. Guess what he found ??? A BAG OF HUMAN POOP !! That's right. THE most disgusting thing I've ever seen. UHaul agree with me obviously, as the head office refunded my money, but seriously, shut this location DOWN ! It, and the people who work there are damaging your brand.

P.S.: the Queen st West location has nothing to do with this, the staff there was actually helpful, this is why you receive a 1 star as opposed to -5!

The guy who helped us was good - gave us a van inspite of being able to rent a pickup truck online. There was absolutely no point in signing up for this online get-the-vehicle-without-waiting stuff. Gave you a bunch of my information for no reason whatsoever. Online experience was seemingly pointless. In-person experience was good. No surprises. Probably will use again.
