We were told to pick up our truck at 9am, and no one was there to give us our key to the truck until 11am. We had a very stressful move out day, because we were so pushed back on time and schedule due to that.

First, someone who actually works as a UHAUL rep should have been there during stated hours of operation to check out the truck for me. I had made a reservation a couple of days prior to picking it up, so they were expecting me. What should have been a 10 minute interaction turned into a 30 minute interaction while trying to track down an employee of the facility who had left for the day. Once we identified the truck, it was clean, no flaws. HOWEVER, the gas tank was only 1/4 full! I had to travel a distance to find a Mobil station so I could use my gas card. Thus, my schedule was shot to hell while people waiting for me to show up were wondering what happened. Then, once I completed my move, turned in the truck at the other end, they had no record of me officially checking out the truck nor that their center was to receive it! The last thing a person needs when they are packing up and moving their life to another corner of the state is to have major customer service screw ups. Come on folks, you can do better than that Salem, NH :(

I rented a dolly and it was not provided. I have emailed Uhaul and no response. I have called and the phone is turned off. Also, I rented the vehicle for 19.9 and for some reason was charged 39.95?? As there is no one to talk about the billing I am disputing the bulk of the charge until someone contacts me.

The truck was not cleaned when I received it. It took the clerk an hour to do the paperwork because the person that does the uhaul at that depot was not around. The had the trailer blocked in, I had to attacht he trailer my self. I had to purchase a pad lock because the one on the truck was locked to a handle and they did not have a key. This was the worst experience I have had with uhaul and may consider not using uhaul next time. I think a discount on this bill is justified.

It was extremely hard to contact anyone at any location. I was told to call the area manager, who never called me back with many attempts on my part. Then, the charge was doubled, then it was reversed. I feel the communication is very, very poor.

Assaulted & threatened by a staff member at the location, who was moving the U-Haul trucks, on both pick-up & drop-off. The individual was screaming, swearing, and ranting about lucifer/satan, while threatening me with "sixteen buddies" and a "pigsticker". He broke a wooden item (the handle of something, or a wooden pole) over his knee, as though making weapons, immediately prior to our departure. My wife was present and neither of us felt physically safe. We spoke to the owner (a good guy aware of the situation) & alerted the local police for a psychiatric welfare check on the individual who assaulted/threatened us.

I rented a trailer and it sent me to a location that didn't carry one. So I had to go crazy looking for a different location. Finally I found one a few miles away and rented the trailer. I specifically requested a one way for trailer and asked for a 6x12 trailer instead of a 5x9 that I reserved. The representative said that the 6x12 was a local rental only and stated that the 5x9 could go one way. Therefore, I rented the 5x9 and dropped it off in saugus ma. When I went to check it, the representative stated that this trailer was a local rental only and tried to charge me more than 3 time the amount of the rental. I never agreed to that in the first place and can't get a hold of the rental place in New Hampshire because the phone lines don't work. Very disappointed and refuse to pay to pay that outrageous price.

Mileage was more than I was quoted. The uhaul failed my reservation I am not satisfied one bit and my charges are way offf I feel I was scammed.

I rented a small truck for several hours of use. I only put ~16 miles on the truck and did add fuel to bring to the level that was originally on the gauge - between 1/2 and 5/8 of a tank. when I returned it the return person was not able to personally finalize the return, but said she would send me the closed invoice. when I received the closed out invoice via email I was charged a $6.38 fuel charge. I called to complain and was put on hold for 1/2 hour. I called them from my home phone and the person that picked up the phone started laughing about getting an "anonymous" number - I do not have an advertised phone number. I asked if he was going to talk to me, but he kept on laughing with another person in the office. I finally got them to talk to me and told them I was on hold for 1/2 hour and wanted to talk to the rental truck person. I was told she was with and customer. I hung up and called back and the rental truck person finally answered. I complained about being charged a fuel surcharge. She proceeded to tell me that it was not returned with the same amount of fuel. I told her she was in error, the truck was not at 5/8 of tank and that I did put fuel in for the ~16 mile trip I took. She told me she would contact the Uhaul manager about getting a refund. I have not heard back from them. I would not recommend going to this location, people are rude, insensitive and don't have a clue what customer service means.

My pick-up location was changed, and the required equipment (two appliance dollies and 2 doz. pads) were not on the paperwork for the new pickup location, so they were not included in my rental. I had to arrange for them elsewhere, which was a minor but unnecessary inconvenience.

There was some confusion when picking up my vehicle. The customer that was there ahead of me was given my paperwork to sign off on by mistake. The document was then just handed to me with the keys. I was told I was all set? No verification of my drivers license. No instructions on returning the vehicle. No inspection of the vehicle prior to taking it. Not sure if the person working was unfamiliar with the process? To me there is a liability issue here. I was never asked to sign anything or show identification.

On-line reservation sent me to Lawrence, MA. The line was out the door when I arrived, one person behind the counter, and nobody in line had a clue or a U.S. ID; "get me out of here now"! I called U-Haul toll free, and they sent me to Salem, NH where I spoke to a very friendly person on the phone. I got the MC trailer, picked up my bike, and dropped it back on location later that day. Would highly recommend this location, and stay the heck away from Lawrence, MA: Fundamental Transformation of America is in full force there!

There was No one there when I went to pick up my rental and there we’re No Keys in the Express Box So I had to wait for someone to show up over an hour later to pick up my rental.

No one was there, and my son, who returned the truck, had no password and therefore had to make many calls to get a verifying code. It wasn’t fatal, but a needless situation after a long haul.

The U-Haul van was the only part of my rental experience that performed up to the expectations. When I arrived at the location, at 11:40 AM, there was no one there. I started using the app to check in online. I was asked to upload my driving license twice and my picture three times because they were "blurry". I have a new Samsung Galaxy S8 and I could check that the pictures I was sending were as clear as they could be. The back and forth with the online rep took 30+ minutes before I could even retrieve the keys. The van was dirty, with a bunch of tiny white styrofoam pieces all over the cargo floor. The floor mat on the driver size was disgusting with dirt and dust. Worse of all, there were no dolly and no furniture pads which I requested and paid for. I spent another 20 minutes calling the U-Haul customer service, which could not do anything for me. "I would drive over and bring you the dolly and pads if I were in NH" was supposed to be supportive, but did not get me one inch closer to what I needed at the time and in effect aggravated the situation. I called another U-Haul location close by asking for help, but they declined because I did not rent the van from them and did not knwo me. After 1 hour and 30 minutes delay, I had enough. I drove to Boston to pick up the stuff, hoping to calm down and get for some better idea in the 30 min drive. I stopped by the U-Haul location in Somerville MA (Linwood St), where one employee was nice enough to give me a dolly and furniture pads after just listening to my story and just on my word that I would bring these back by 7 PM. A bright spot for the otherwise frustrating rental experience. I loaded the van, drove back to NH, unloaded and returned the truck to its original location at 6. Took another 20 minutes to check out, send pictures, etc. One the app, I was presented with a bill that was charging me with twice the rate of rental, twice the insurance, twice the dolly, and twice the pads. A human would have known that I had the van after 90 minutes delay and would not have penalized me for 30 minutes delay on return. Just frustrating to see the $50 or so dollars added to the original estimate, for delays that were not my fault. Why would I be charged twice for the dolly and pads which I did not receive with the van is beyond my comprehension. In conclusion, the app is an awesome feature, when there are good people behind it. It is a frustrating experience when people fail and there is no backup. The cost is outrageous for the mileage u rent for $20 but at the end was $80 plus gas ??
