Windshield wiper on drivers-side malfunctioned in the middle of our move. It was raining so we had to stop vehicle every five minutes to wipe the windshield in our drive. J&J was closed when this happened. They never pointed out the alternate number we were supposed to call given that they would not be open all afternoon during the contract review when we picked up the vehicle. I called this morning to ask if there is anything they could do for our trouble with the vehicle - they said there is nothing they can do because they already charged my card this morning even though I left a message about the problem yesterday that they did not check before charging my credit card.

Was disappointed, I reserved the trucks in advance and when I went to pick it up, was told it wasn’t available with no explanation of why it wasn’t available. I had to rent a much larger vehicle and more cost. Why reserve a vehicle?

After receiving a confirming e-mail I used the "edit" feature to change the pick up time from 10:30 am to 9:30 am and added the $14 for insurance. When I arrived to pick up the truck I was told there was no reservation because the guy on the desk cancelled my order saying it just "disappeared?" from his computer. He did not have a 15ft. truck for me and I had to make due with a 10ft truck without a ramp. During the reorder process I believe he found my original reservation because of the way he handeled the reorder. He of course denied this, but it was obvious. We managed to get by with the 10ft. truck. When we returned the truck my driver was asked to park it in a tight location where there was bearly enough room to open the door. Desk guy's comment..."well, I probably should have parked it myself because I have to check the miles and gas use anyway." Personally, I feel he should park the trucks as part of his job. I would not rent from this location ever again.

Disappointed with telephone reservation rep who told me she was going to change my reservation but did not. Pick up staff fixed it but it took a long time. Technology and telephone staff sub par especially compared to other online experiences. Pickup staff were great though.

The customer service agent was Helpful. He was knowledgeable and answered all my questions about the vehicle. He explained the model and the features, which was especially helpful going thru 2 rainstorms that day. The vehicle was serviced and up to date. My overall experience was excellent. The only problem was the van had a odor. It smelled like cattle. Maybe the people had used previous for transporting tools.

I am a regular commercial renter from this location and if I had an option, I would never rent from there again. The staff are rude, impolite and customer service is non existent. Having just rented a 15 box truck for over week, when I returned the truck and did not have a ride back to my home which is less than a mile from the Uhaul location, I asked the desk clerk if it would be possible to have someone drop me off, I was promptly and smugly told, "we don't do that". When it comes to customer service, this location does not know the meaning of the words. I also do business with Mavris Discount Tire right next door and they are the nicest, most polite, accommodating and grateful operation that cherish my business not only offering me a ride back to town when my vehicles are getting new tires (I have four vehicles) but also picking me up when I do not have a ride to their shop. That is what I call customer service...something you should teach your franchisees before adding your logo to their location. Incidentally, I was so disgusted with this Uhaul experience, that I mentioned it to a friend at a social event last night who had the same experience at this location and has since not returned as a customer. You can count on me doing the same.

The U-Haul computer system was down so I waited for the truck to be released and also didn't get a receipt on-site when I returned the truck. Not a huge deal but the time lost did eat into my tight schedule. This is just a comment, not a complaint.

This was probably the worst experience i've ever had spending money in my life. Martin at this location was AWFUL! I will copy and paste my experience from the FaceBook complaint my wife posted. We had the worst experience using U-Haul for our move last week. It started with us creating a reservation for a 26ft truck out of our local store. We called and confirmed that the truck was available and we were all set. A couple of days later we received a call saying there was an error in their system and they did not have a truck available for us, but they could give us a 20ft truck from a store nearby and would give us a 10ft truck free of charge to make up for the space we lost. The day we went to pick up the 20ft truck the key was not where they said it would be. It was an early pickup and the store was closed. We called customer service and after going through all the steps, it was determined we would have to wait for the store to open to resolve the issue. They said they would issue us a $50 credit for not being available when we scheduled it. When the store opened, the person (Martin @ Rhinebeck) was extremely arrogant, unpleasant and could not locate the key to the truck. He told us he couldn't help us and moved on to helping the next customer in line. After escalating the issue to the area manager (Eric), he told Martin to give us the 26ft truck they had on hand. 2 hours later we had a truck. Martin did not know how to modify our reservation and ended up creating another reservation in the system. He did not copy over our length of rental nor the dropoff location. I called Eric the next day to explain what had happened and he said he would call me back but never did. When we returned both trucks the next day, the store did not have the 26ft truck on file. After finding our reservation, they noticed it was for one day only and a one way to the original store, so we got charged several overage fees.

There is an issue with the vehicle that I found put me in a dangerous position as the user. I discovered on the freeway that the brakes/gears would periodically lock for a brief moment. This seemed to occur when, in a high gear and I had to slow for traffic/change of speed limit. The vehicle would drop gear and seem to break, forcing the vehicle to skid.

The pickup was rescheduled by phone and the rep who called promised to add extra miles to my limit so I wasn't charged extra for having to go further to get the truck. I was not given that credit and charged $10 in mileage. Overall not pleased with customer service.

The "system" was down when I went to pick up the vehicle and I had to wait an extra 30 minutes to leave. The guy there was really nice, though. You should have a system in place for when this happens - carbon copy contracts or something?

Due to circumstances outside of my control, I was made to wait one hour plus travel time for my UHaul rental. I had 5 movers prepared to start the moving work at 8:00am. The scheduled Uhaul was not made available until 9:00am. Due to this I had to pay my movers: 1 at $100 for that hour and 4 @ & $50 per hour, for a total of $300. Very unhappy about this.

Jim Pickles is knowledgeable and runs a great shop, but the man who checked us in on Sunday the 30th was so incompetent that it went beyond description. He was deeply rude and condescending to an older woman that was there before me renting a pull trailer, then doubly rude to her and her grandson when they came in asking for help to make sure they'd hooked up the trailer correctly. My boyfriend went out and helped them after the guy blew them off. Then, when I needed to pay with two separate cards, the guy said he didn't know how - that they had "a new operating system" and he "hadn't been properly trained." I asked if he could call for help. He said no. So, we drove 40 mins round trip so we could go home and get a different card. When we got back, he still couldn't make it work, so I insisted that he call Jim Pickles or said that I would be calling him. At that point, the guy miraculously picks up the phone and calls someone who talks him through how to run two cards for a single purchase. When I asked why he hadn't done that in the first place, he threw it back in my face. Then, he told us that there was a nicer, newer truck that he hadn't rented to someone else, and that we could've had it, but that he's already done the paperwork. He also made a mistake on noting the fuel gauge and had to redo the contract anyway. He was one of the most incompetent, rude, combative and ungracious people I've ever had to deal with. Plus, he seemed scared and undertrained. Sincerely under qualified. Too bad because the Rhinebeck location is a nice spot and the weekday employees seem very good.

Staff was not particularly warm or friendly. I was told by U-Haul customer service upon booking that there would be moving blankets (for example) available, and when I got to the pickup location, the staff member simply shrugged his shoulders and said they didn't have any.
