truck i rented was NOT ready when I arrived for pick up. The previous driver left all of their things in the truck. Uhaul should have notified me at least one hour prior to my pick up time as I traveled a distance by public transportation to get to the this truck. Uhaul told me I can go somewhere else or take a smaller truck. As I couldn't get anywhere else at the moment, I had to settle for a small truck which results in 2 extra trips to take off the things that didn't fit, which also results in extra miles paid and gas used. Additionally, the truck I was given was full of sand, which I had to spend 20 minutes cleaning out.

Not sure if I would change anything. I definitely see the usefulness of using the app especially once you get familiar with it. It will make checking in and out a pleasant and fast experience.

First of all, the man who answered did not understand anything we said over the phone. He was very rude and we tried to explain our questions clearly, but he just didn't comprehend what we were asking. We called the office and asked if the truck needed to be dropped off by 7pm (closing time) and eventually he said no. Therefore, we were under the impression that we could drop it off after 7pm. We rented it for 5hrs and picked it up at 4:30pm. If the truck needed to be returned by 7pm, they should not let you pick 5hrs! Nothing was clear and so we called the day of to assure that we could drop off the truck later. A very angry man (same one) answered the phone and started saying we had to return it by 7pm and that he wouldn't wait. We got there at 7:30pm and he was gone. Another man was there and thankfully he was able to do the return, although he did have to call the other guy in charge. Overall, a horrible experience.

Start hiring people to answer your phones. I called the first time and they hung up on me after waiting 6 minutes and 29 seconds. The second time I called they once more hung up on me after 6 minutes and 52 seconds. I was finally able to get through on the third time. This is unacceptable. I’m debating using your company in the future specifically because of this unpleasant incident. Hire more people to answer the phones, or loose me as a customer and get poor reviews on social media... The choice is yours...

The cargo van was given to me in a condition described as "new" though 1) the back door, left panel, did not open due to a metal rod which no longer fit in an orange plastic hole, necessitating much fumbling around in the dark to re-push the rod into the orange piece in order for the left panel to open properly, 2) a number of cosmetic scratches were visible on the side, driver side in particular, before I got the van, and 3) U-Haul demanded I re-fill the gas tank "full" which is very difficult to do accurately since the needle did not move much in my rental, the result of which I paid near $8 for gas for only 6 miles of driving, apparently much due to the prior driver who did not completely fill his tank "full" when he finished. U-Haul should not rent vehicles with the needle in a position which do not show small though important changes, e.g., may be in a non-linear zone.

When i order u-haul's products, such as box. furniture rugs. tapes. there is nothing in location. still hasn't got any refund yet. truck pickup lot was blocked by employee's vehicle. had to wait over 15 mins. poor experience ever

The location manager was Excellent!!! but on another note.. Your phone customer server was horrendous!! I originally ordered a box truck then changed it to a cargo van confirmed with a phone call you can verify with phone logs. when i got to the location at the scheduled time there was NO cargo van available! so by no choice I ordered a box truck. and then called to see what happened and they changed my location of the order almost making it impossible for what i needed the truck for. I never confirmed a change of address. The attendant on location was Excellent and I would recommend anybody to use his service! I plan on using you again for my business. but cant have this happen again. -JP

Let the customer know that the truck may not be parked in a residential area. One could not possibly know that when one does not drive a commercial vehicle. Completely unacceptable!! Had I known I wouldn't have taken the truck overnight!! Very disappointing!!

I returned to a gas station. I was informed that I did not fill to what I got but I did and I placed the needle exact. He said I signed something different so I owed more money so the paper does not reflect the actual needle. But he said he see's this all the time so I asked have you told Uhaul he said no and I now can see why, this actually causes you to get gas from him and he makes more on people moving on budgets returning vehicles. I can see this needs to be taken further as this probably happens at all of you gas station bases

I have already called and explained our main issues with this location to a U-Haul customer service representative. We had to drive 25 miles out of the way to pick up the truck at this location, which was not the preferred location indicated on our reservation made two weeks in advance. It took 40 minutes for our rental to be set up at the location. A very rude U-Haul agent (NOT associated with this location) assured us this location would have the blankets we reserved available, which they did not. The inside of the truck was dirty, and we had to clean it out ourselves.

The whole U Haul experience was a complete disaster. I reserved a one way 15Ft U Haul with 1 dolly, 1 hand truck and 2 dozen moving pads; all for 7AM at the Astoria, NY location moving to NJ. I did this a week and half in advance and paid in full; I tried to get a 20FT but online said it wasn’t available. The Astoria location is 10 mins walking from my apartment. After I reserved this "preferred" location, I read in the confirmation that someone will contact me to confirm the reservation. I waited 5 days and no one called, texted or emailed, so I called the location and nobody picked up, I actually called several times for the next 2 days and nobody picked up. So I looked online and other customers commented that this location does not pick up their phone but the service was good and reliable so I stopped calling and that was my mistake. Less than 24 hours from my pick up I receive a text and an email stating that my pick up location is the Jamaica, NY location at 4:15PM which is an hour and half from me. I then called U Haul (very annoyed btw) and they told me that my preferred location does not have a 15FT truck and they only do vans. The traffic rep was at first very nice than turned rude when I told her that location is nowhere near me and not the time I request because I already reserved a time with my apartment building for the freight elevator. She then went ahead and told me that somebody called me and left me a voicemail and I ensured that no one called and all I got was the email stating the change and a text stating the same thing. She then told me that she does have a closer location in Queens village but they only have a 10FT truck available and that’s all she can do for me. She did provide extra miles but that’s after I told her that the truck is too small and I would have to make 2 trips instead of my initial 1 trip, meaning more money on gas and miles. The day of the pickup I arrive at the Queens village U-Haul at 7AM and the gas station clerk was at first surprised that I was there to pick up a truck like he didn’t check his schedule, so after I gave him my reservation number he found the info but then told me I had to pay for it. I told him I paid for it already online and I showed him the receipt. He said it was not in his system so I called U-Haul. After 45Mins with U-Haul and the clerk they finally figured out the issue, the gas station did not update their system so they couldn’t recognize the express check in with the payment in full. After all this mess than he tells me that he does not have any dolly’s nor hand trucks, I nearly flipped out! So got U Haul on the phone again and they refunded me for the Dolly and hand truck but doesn’t help cause now my move will be so much longer and harder without helpful equipment. So a move that was supposed to take up to maybe 3-4 hours turned into 10 hours. On top of that I had to pay for the extra mileage because the extra they provided wasn’t enough.
