Difficult to get customer serivice. Self service was slow and Vans U-Haul was 0 help.

The self check in and return was a very difficult process. Instructions were very unclear. Customer service is great, but the location I went to took days to check my rental back in.

When I did the online self checkout the system indicated me to leave the truck keys inside a “orange Dropbox near the entrance of the place” but there was nothing. I had to call customer service and it took them 45 minutes to help me out

App was slow and quit often. Location was not where the map took me, I had to drive around the neighborhood to spot the van. Caled Customer service because the app was failing, and although friendly, eventually I was put on hold and the call was dropped. I ordered a trolly yet there was none in the van, so I had to go to another location and spend another 30 minutes to get the people there to get one and drive me back to the van.

When I finally received the keys to the truck, I came to find that the truck was completely out of battery because of the previous driver had left the headlights on. I waited 40 min to get to a customer service representative and then waited another hour or so for roadside assistance to jump the truck. Overall, it took me about 2 hours before I could even get the truck off the original lot. The only thing that kind of makes up for the situation is that the customer service representation was helpful and sent me a gift certificate for my not so pleasant experience, however it took some time to finally speak to an actual agent. The truck itself was clean, but it had the smell of cigarette smoke. U-haul should be checking the trucks before the next renter instead of solely relying on photos from drivers.

the overall return process was complicated due to the lack of a key return box at this lot and, also, because Uhaul Services could not provide me a key code to unlock the vehicle's security box and place it there. Overall, the rest of the process was relatively painless. Note that I did receive confirmation emails, also, that alarmed me: they showed a ~$2500 rate for a vehicle I reserved and rented for ~$500. So, something's haywire with your email reminders.

I rented the van using my mobile device, and all the verification steps too way too long while I was standing in the hot sun. It would have been nice to know in advance that I would need someone to be available to answer the phone and verify that it’s me.

There is no key drop box at this location. I walked around the entire block and there is no box anywhere. I’ve been on hold with customer service for FIFTY-THREE MINUTES now. They can’t yet tell me where to put the key. And there’s no human being to ask because this is a parking lot, not any type of business. Horrible customer service. Still on hold after 53 minutes. When I finally got an agent after 40 minutes, she put me back on hold immediately. Not going to use UHaul again if I can possibly avoid it. This self-service thing is terribly executed.
