I got the pick-up truck and found out it was to small for the job that I needed it for. They were so kind that they let me come exchange it at no extra charge. My 2nd time using this location and I will be going back to them again.

The vehicle was not ready to go after having four days advance notice. The steering was so bad that I almost wrecked the truck and into others several times. Not to mention I was overcharged $100 and never reimbursed. When I tried to contact someone about these problems, I got the run around and no response. F$&K U-haul.

1) Have the agent remain behind the counter to answer the phone. 2) Have the agent know the prices of boxes so they can quote rather than look at the wall rates. 3) Agent needs to know what comes with various boxes w/o looking. 4) Provide a printed receipt w/o asking. 5) A more mature person needs to work the counter.

I wish I'd have been informed that pickup trucks needed to be returned to a specific location. I only found out when I went to return it to a different location. I unfortunately incurred a lot of extra driving because of this.

The online reservation confirmed an appliance dolly, yet there were none available at pick-up. Another customer appeared to have the same problem. I had assembled a crew, they arranged and rearranged their schedules and the move went well apart from the fact that I now need to gather up more help and again rent a truck to move the appliances and file cabinets. This is not the U-Haul I remember. The employees were extremely apologetic, but sorry won't move my stuff.

The truck I rented is extremely old and difficult to raise and lower the door. It should be taken out of rotation or you shouldn’t be allowed to charge full price.

Whatever was used to clean the floor (armor all?) made it extremely slippery. I slipped on it getting in and out of the truck multiple times. Definitely a safety issue...

They check fuel and mileage before you depart, so you should check the cleanliness, particularly windows and storage area. Last time I rented it was filthy.

I have been a regular customer of the U-Haul rental office at the Plymouth Super Center (400 Ann Arbor Road West, Plymouth, MI 48170) since the beginning of 2017. I believe I have rented cargo vans (and a pickup truck, once) there on six occasions previously. I have had nothing but good service and a pleasant experience on all six occasions. But the 7th one was a disaster. In mid-October, I reserved the use of a pickup truck for October 20-22, November 35, and November 17-19. All three confirmed prior to October 20. The first two rentals went without incident. The third was completely screwed up. On the morning of November 17, I called the Super Center U-Haul office to find out whether I could change the pickup rental to a cargo van (because of impending bad weather). I was told that all the cargo vans were already reserved. I said, "Okay, I'll just stay with the pickup truck." I arrived at the Plymouth Super Center at 12:15 on Friday, November 17. The attendant told me that my reservation had been canceled when I had called two hours earlier. I protested that I had NOT requested a cancellation, and I wanted the pickup truck reservation reinstated. She said they would have to send me to a different location anyway, because the pickup truck I had reserved had been rented the previous day and would not be returned until 6:00pm on the 17th, which was too late for me. To say I was upset would be an understatement. I was forced to drive to a different U-Haul location (29500 Michigan Boulevard, Inkster) to obtain my rental. This added 25 miles to my round trip, which increased my rental cost by about $15. So, besides canceling my reservation when I didn't request that to be done, they had already rented out the same vehicle I had reserved, knowing that it wouldn't return until six hours AFTER I needed it, forcing me to go to the inconvenience of driving to another U-Haul location. Because the Super Center U-Haul office is convenient to my location, I will undoubtedly use them again. But I will do so with some trepidation, knowing that my rental might be screwed up again, either through ignorance or incompetence. I don't believe it was deliberate, but it should not have happened in any event, especially to a regular customer who reserved a month in advance. At the very least, I would have thought a phone call was in order to verbally confirm that they could rent the vehicle I had reserved to someone else who wouldn't be bringing it back by the time I needed it.
