Checking in on line does not work for this dealer. They require you to start from the beginning. Their computers are not up and running so when you go in they have to boot it up and then it may not work. I told the clerk that the gas was not a 3/4 of a tank and he said ok I'll change the paper work. He didn't so I put gas in the truck to where it was and when I received my email reciept they charged me an additional $4.25 more because the computer said I had not filled it. When I called he would not let me speak and was extremely rude. Someone should do a surprise visit to this place. What a dump.

I got a call from the uhaul location where I had scheduled use of a 10' truck. The truck was delayed and I'd have to go to another uhaul location. (My info had been entered into uhaul system when I ordered the truck.) I went to a second location and I had to wait close to an HOUR while the cashier had an old laptop that continually was very slow for each entry needed. An hour standing there waiting. I was on a schedule and getting farther behind. When he showed me the screen I said the address is wrong and he snapped "Well fix it!" I corrected the address for him. I wanted to leave but I needed the truck and I'd already been delayed twice now. The truck itself was fine but I was not happy to pay the total of $184- with such bad service involved.

1) I requested a rental near 95050, this location is 40 minutes away, and I was told when this change was made that there were 0 15' trucks available near 95050. I understand that there may be busy days and nothing I can do about that, but on the reservation day, I called a local Santa Clara U-Haul and was told there were plenty of trucks available.... so this was the first issue. 2) the pre-check-in feature NEVER worked, and I was told by u-haul support that "it's useless so don't even worry about it..." then why does the email tell me to use it?!? 3) this location had the incorrect insurance fee. I was going to get the top tier insurance (safe move plus) for the quoted $56, but when I got the rental place, they told me it was going to be $86... I showed him the reservation price and he could do nothing to change it so I opted for the lower safemove insurance for $28 3.a) The rental location had the hardest time in the world running my card and making it all work. in the end he mentioned something about an outstanding balance which is inaccurate, I haven't used U-Haul in 2 years and everything went smooth last time. 4) my reservation said I could return it to Santa Clara but both the attendant at the Shell station and Customer service said I needed to return it to Pleasanton location because it was round-trip. this is confusing as all material should be concise and tell the same story. 4.a) The customer service assistant said I could return the truck at night even if the location was closed (it was closed, I returned it and put the key in the sliding drawer at the shell location). When I called the next day to verify return and to request my email receipt, i was told I would need to return in person. I insisted that support told me it was ok to return at night, and I was 2 hours away and unwilling to be in person for no reason. The Shell attendant said he would contact support and call me back, he never did. Some unrelated business happened to take me near the Shell station again that day, so I decided to call again, this time I was greeted by another second and equally unaware attendant that told me to come in, I insisted that I didn't need to be there, but in the end went out of my way to stand there for 30 minutes while he fiddled with the 2 clicks needed to return the truck... and I DIDN'T NEED TO BE THERE! I was very upset, and left before making too much of a scene. I need to be assured that this will never happen again. I am more than willing to pay 3-4 times the amount to pay for a legit moving company rather than ever use U-Haul again. Feel free to call me if you need any of the finer details. Aaron 408-761-7760
