I have been renting u-haul equipment for over 40 years. This by far was the most disappointing experience I have had. I made a reservation in person at a local Uhaul dealer and told them I needed to pick up it up at 8. Moving help coming at nine. They said that would be fine. My error was not carefully reading confirmation email that said I would need to pick up truck at a different location at 10. I did not get a call from u-haul. When I arrived at eight I was informed I needed to drive 4 miles north to another location. I was not told where it was, which we found out was off the beaten track and at a place I did not know even existed. When I arrived at the new location they were closed and do not even open until 9:30. While I was looking at the store hours sign a person came out of the office and informed me that they were closed for the day I explained my situation and the woman said we are closed I have had a personal emergency. You need to go on line confirm your reservation and I will leave the keys in the truck but it will not be able to pick up until ten. I asked her if I could go back to the other place. ( my movers were on the way and so now I was about to be paying for them to sit and wait for a truck). I got in my car and started back to the original uhaul dealer and called the u-haul 800 number. After being on hold we finally got someone she said sh would talk to local scheduler and put me on hold. When we got back to other dealer we were still on hold and had phone on speaker as I explained again our situation They said they would give me a truck so I hung up. When they finally got the truck to me they explained that I would need to put gas I. It because the tank had been siphoned and it was on empty. I asked where I could get gas and the person pointed at a gas stoop a block away. They also said maybe the next return dealer might give me a credit. But I noticed that my receipt showed I had to return it with an 1:8th of a tank. By now movers had arrived and went on the clock at 9:30. The dealer did give 15 extra mike since I explained I did not have enough allowed to get to my home , drive to storage and then return by now a little frustrated. When I got to the return dealer. She did not even stand up. Sat at her desk as I explained the I did not fill the truck to an 1/8 she said other dealer should have. She didn’t check truck or count pads. Just said ok your good and took the keys. My take away after dealing with three sometimes rude bug definitely indifferen dealers that UHaul is using a different type of customer service trading than other organizations. Maybe you feel you have a monopoly and no longer need to try Overall it was frustrating and in the end we still had to pay an additional 15 minutes mover help time due to the situation

The staff was friendly. However, no one gave me a walk through of the truck so any existing damage was never brought to my attention. My overall issue with this U-Haul experience stems primarily from the inability of the company on a corporate level to effectively communicate with the stores and supply with me a truck.

The staff and the equipment were great. The only thing I wish could be changed is having trucks that do better than seven miles per gallon on highway and have auto transports that can pull a truck such as a Ford F-150. Other than that... I wouldn't change a thing.
