I had a horrible experience with Uhaul. I went to pick up my van using the self service, however after beginning the process I wasn't able to find the key to the van. Luckily the store was open so I went to the store front but the man working had a sign up saying he was out for a second and if assistance was needed to call his cell phone. I called and told him that I just needed the key and he said he had it locked in the office, however he was in back with a customer and would be there in a "few minutes". I told him my father and I would be waiting up front for him. After 15 minutes and he didn't show I decided to call again since we were waiting for a while outside the store. The employee did not answer my call. My father and I continued to wait and after 30 minutes my father called from his cell phone (so it was a different number) and the man answered saying he would be right up - my father was not very happy and said how we were waiting for 30 minutes. The employee finally showed up about 10 minutes after my father called. He gave us the key and were finally able to leave - almost an hour after my original pick-up time. By this time the application on my phone timed out and I thought I was ready to go so began my trip. I wasn't sure how the mileage/gas was going to be tracked since the employee didn't mention it and the self-service app was time out so I reset the current trip for the mileage and took pictures of the starting odometer and gas gauge (started at 224 mi). I was already pretty upset with my experience thus far because I had to wait for so long just to get the keys when the keys should have been in the van all along. Upon return of the van I became even more frustrated because the mileage was incorrect and apparently never reset from the customer before me. When I tried to enter my mileage it was giving me an error and saying I drove a lot more than I actually did. (The odometer read 268 after for a total of 44.4 miles driven, however I was being charged for over 100.) I ended up having to call UHaul for a lengthy conversation to rectify this. The woman apologized and said she entered the 44.4 miles to my account and that the store manager would call within 3 days to sort it out. However, 2 days after my rental my credit card was charged for the extra miles that I did not drive AND I still have not received a call from the store manager and it is 4 business days after my rental. I plan to call about this tonight and am extremely frustrated with the location I rented from and very disappointed in U-Haul for allowing this.

First time we rented a van they gave us a van that I already had existing problems . Second day the van broke down we waited five hours for someone to come . Meanwhile lost all our jobs we were supposed to do . They said they were going to give us a refund for the days we rented the van haven't seen that yet . I've called three times somebody was supposed to call me back have not received a call yet . What's so hard about just giving us a refund ! Stop in the office today and the guy said he couldn't help me was very rude .

I never received a receipt showing how much I was charged. An email was sent to me - but it had no information about the charges. Now I will have to contact my credit card company -- which is a deal breaker. I won't be using UHAUL again unless I can get a real copy of the invoice.

The gentleman in new Hartford location is knowledgeable, pleasant, and efficient. I have been back a few times to this location due to him. I wish I remembered his name but he is a one man show so it should be easy to find him. Outstanding customer service.

I had a reservation for 9 am on Dec 3. I called to inform them that there was broken glass outside my storage unit and the guy told me he was at the DMV and wouldn't be back til 9:30. By the time I waited in line and the paperwork was done I didn't get started moving until 10. I had people standing around for over an hour. I was also told to have the truck back by 1:15, that's less than my 4 hr rental. Never will I use U-haul again!

When picking up my truck I was told that my truck was not available even though it had been reserved. A representative name Francis at west Hartford storage(in CT) told me that I can only rent a certain truck. This truck was bigger than the truck that I needed and more money. I left his office then called corporate and they told me that the truck was on site I walked around back and saw that the truck I had reserved was indeed there. Francis, dismissed me and refused to give me the truck I reserved, until corporate called Francis and essentially made him rent me the truck I reserved. I am not sure if Francis tried to sell me a bigger truck because I was a woman but regardless is was very shady. Francis said "I don't give a crap about U-Haul" he says he works for his boss in Florida and U-Haul works with his boss and Francis does not work for U-Haul. Even though I received a business card and it said that Francis was a "U-Haul representative". (The U-Haul Bokel was plastered all in the office Francis worked in). He refused to give his bosses name in Florida so I could not lodge a formal complaint with him. I later find out- from Francis that he gets compensated for the trucks that he rents for example the bigger trucks he's rents the more profit he makes (even if it's minimal). he told us that he works through his boss not U-Haul as a third-party. I suggest anyone wanting to rent trucks to call U-Haul corporate to make a reservation first, as the representative at the sites do not disclose all the trucks they have available because it's all a money making endeavor. I am unsure why he would not give me the truck whether it be from moneymaking endeavor's or for biases. After an hour and a half Francis finally gave us the truck he claimed he didn't even have on site. Francis left the U-Haul office on multiple occasions and there was customers waiting outside a locked business who all had appointments during working hours. This was a very unprofessional experience and Francis left in the middle of our conversation and told me I would have to exit his office as he was the only worker and he had other appointments to make. When speaking with corporate on the phone they were more than helpful in trying to solve this issue with Francis. Francis was extremely unprofessional and didn't make me feel valued as a customer. I called corporate and put a Maria( who was very helpful) on speaker speakerphone so she could hear the way Francis was talking to customers.

The guy who I rented from did not know that if I returned the vehicle a day early I would not be charged for the second day. He thought I had to return it by 2:30pm (when he closed). I knew from past experiences that I had 24 hours with the truck and confirmed with Corporate customer service. In addition, the truck was anything but clean on the inside of the cab. I would rend a truck from this location again. I have had a much better experience else where.

The reservation website indicated the location opens at 8am on Saturdays. I arrived at 8:05am and waited until 8:25am for the manager to arrive. He told me that he has asked U-Haul not to make reservations before 8:30am.
