My distace to go pick up the truck was apprximately 42 miles and to take it back was apprximately the same distance. In the near future I would like to pick up a truck locally. As it were I was being charge .79 cent on a mile.

My son, Steven, rented a truck on August 10 for an in-town move in Monticello, AR. The locations he was moving between are no more than 2 miles from each other. He gave the people at Rod's an estimated mileage of 20 miles. He was told that anything over would be charged at 79 cents per mile. He moved all his belongings in town and then found out that a friend had some furniture to give him. The furniture was located in El Dorado, AR. This is no more than 140 miles round trip between Monticello and El Dorado. He completed the trip and turned in truck before midnight on the 10th. He dropped the keys in the box as he was told to, picked up his car and left. A charge of $53.56 was posted to my credit card account on August 13. Then, last night, August 24, I was checking my statement and noticed that there is a pending charge of $313.12 with a date of August 21. I called my son and asked him to go by Rod's and see about that charge. (I live more than 2 hours away from him.) He went by today, August 25. He was told by the first gentleman that he talked to that yes, the charges seemed high for the amount of miles to El Dorado and back. He asked a man named Herb, who knows more about this, to look at the charges. When Herb came to the office he was very rude to my son and just told him that "these charge will stand." Steven told him that his dad would be calling and Herb said fine, he would talk to me. I called today, the 25th, around 2:00 pm. I did not talk to Herb but talked to a woman, Bambi. She looked up the information in their computer and told me that we had been charged for over 300 extra miles plus a late charge. I asked how could there be a late charge since they had the card information on the contract. I never did get an answer I could understand. Something about the card not going through (which is impossible) and a promissory note. When I disputed the miles she looked at the odometer reading and indeed, the number of miles was what we were being charged for. But she also told me that the truck had not been turned in until 1 pm on the 11th. They may have checked it in then but it was there before midnight the previous day, the 10th. She told me that I needed to call the main Uhaul number, 800-826-9633, to get more information and that the late charge and the mileage were all coming from the main company; Rod's just puts the information in the computer. When I called that number the woman I talked to was very helpful. But she told me that the late charge and the mileage dispute was from their, Rod's, end of things; opposite of what Bambi at Rod's had told me. She advised me to submit this review form with all this information. My son and I have used Rod's before back in May of this year and everything went smoothly. But I did not deal with Herb. It seems as if someone is trying to take advantage of a 24 year old college student. There is no way that many miles was put on the truck by my son. It seems as if s

Provide the truck as promised in the reservation. When I arrived the local dealer had NO trucks of any size for rent. U-Haul did not fulfill the requirements of my reservation. When the pickup location called U-Haul for resolution, U-Haul suggested that I drive 50+ miles to pick up a truck, larger than the one reserved, or just wait until the next day and hope for something to come available. Very poor customer service on U-Haul's behalf. The local person Rod's Towing and Recovery was VERY helpful in trying to find a solution. U-Haul could learn about good customer service from that person.

The management was very rude and I had to wait 2 hours for the u haul. When we arrived...a random guy told us that the people who does the reservations took the day off. It was Saturday...I made my reservation on that previous Monday. You all need to hire a more professional staff.

The truck was filthy inside cab and storage space. The sign in the van states Save $25.00 and return clean, I think I should be refunded $25.00 for cleaning the truck myself.

We were supposed to pick up the rental at 10:00 a.m. The owner operates a tow service and was out on a call. He had no one else to complete the transaction so we had to wait. His son was then involved in a collision and we had to wait longer. Ultimately we had to alter our entire schedule.

We had to drive an extra 422 miles to deliver the truck and it put us over on mileage and took extra gas we had to replace. We could have dropped off the truck in Dumas and not been over on mileage. Not this locations fault it was regional office fault.
