Our location and time of pick up was changed a day before our move without our consent or acknowledgement. I didn't receive any voicemail but even if I did, we wouldn't have been able to change our scheduled moving elevator and were stuck rushing to complete our move into our new condo. Additionally, we had to drive out of the way to pick up and drop off our truck. Your customer service reps were not sympathetic and were not helpful in the situation (they just reinforced that there was nothing that could be done). This soured our whole moving experience and I will not be using uhaul again in any of our future moves.
I had selected IN PERSON PICKUP but it seems the pickup location is really geared towards ONLINE self service. U Haul did not advise me to download the U Haul app ahead of time, ensure mobile data is active, use the app to check in and out, retrieve and return the van keys from a lock box, etc. etc.
I was able to book online, which made things fast and easy. The van was clean. Keep up the good work.
The location was hard to see from the street. It was horrible to find out that a few days before the pickup, our promised 20-foot vehicle was not available. What is the point of making a reservation, when it gets changed at the last minute?
The overall experience was excellent. The only thing I would mention is that the parking spots for own car are not marked and someone from another company came out to ask us to move it from where we initially parked it.
The location called to report they were closing early on the pick up day. Upon arrival, they were still open. The lady behind was a bit rude in reminding me of the online Chech in process and seemed a bit annoyed she had to repeat herself.

I placed an online order for 15 feet truck and three dollies for Sat, May 2, 8 am, about a week in advance to be picked at a location in Etobicoke. 3 pm on Thursday before May 2, I got I call that U-haul doesn't have the truck available in Etobicoke, but can pick it up from a location in Markham, 40 km away. Very slick move - with such short notice I can't really find another truck from another provided. Without choice, I had to go agree to go to Markham. If Uhaul doesn't have the truck available in Etobicoke, why was it offered there? When I picked the truck on May 2, there were no dollies. The location was closed, so I called customer service. They couldn't explain why there were no dollies. Their guess was there were none available at the location. If they were not available, why wasn't I notified? And again, if they were not available in the location, why were they offered online? The customer service rep advised that she can arrange for me to pick up dollies at another location in Scarborough, but they would open at 10 am. I asked if I can pick up the dollies from the Etobicoke's location since they would open earlier. The rep advised the Etobicoke's location opens at 9 am and she would arrange for me to pick them up from the Etobicoke's location. However, since I was renting the truck one way (meaning I'm returning it in a different location from where I picked them up), I had to call Traffic and they had to arrange the dollies to be returned to the location I'm picking them from. Why did I have to call another department to handle my request? Why wasn't customer service able to arrange that? Why do you have customer service, if I have to call each department separately? Anyway, it was 9:30 am by the time I finished with customer service, Traffic and drove back to Etobicoke. When I arrived there, I was told they don't have dollies. No one has notified them and the dollies they had available were already given to other clients. So much for customer service. The agent at the location called another location in Rexdale, 14 km away. Rexdale could spare one dolly for me and that's it. So, to summarise my experience with U-Haul: I placed an order for a truck and three dollies to be available at 8 am in Etobicoke. On the day of the pickup, I had to drive 40 km to Markham, 40 km back to Etobicoke, 14 km to Rexdale and 14 km back to my place in Etobicoke. I received one dolly instead of the three I ordered. And I waisted 2.5 hours of my time dealing with issues that should have been arranged when I placed my order a week in advance. It seems like U-haul is Greek for â€œnot good at online business and customer serviceâ€.
Vehicle was clean and fueled. It was ready for pickup at the scheduled time. Key was in the lock box. No staff at this location during Covid lockdown, so you are completely on your own using the online procedures for both pickup and return. Set up your account in advance to streamline the procedure somewhat. Even with iPhone "location services" turned on, the uHaul website had difficulty detecting that I was actually at the pickup location. Give yourself lots of time for pickup.
Interior can muddy. Windshield wipers were so bad rubber was 75% torn off. Most of moving blankets were soiled. Gas cap light on but cap was secured.
Worst rental experience of my life. If this was my first U Haul rental I would never be back. If I could rate this lower then poor I would. This location puts a black eye on the U Haul name.
Van was not ready for rental. Had to remove snow from van. Gas in van was not as stated. Missing about 1/8 tank. Was showed but nothing was done. I refueled about 10L extra by mistake as well. This is on me. Key was not in the lockbox. Had to wait till location was open to get van. This delayed my move which needed to be on time.
We use this place a couple times every year and it's purely out of convenience of proximity. The vehicles are not cleaned regularly and clearly not inspected after every return i.e. I always find garbage in the cargo area i.e. empty water bottles, portable ash trays, end pieces of lumber. They're in pretty rough shape too, but I can't put the blame on the rental location for that. I'd give it below average but I think this is pretty standard with the majority of uhaul locations. It is what it is and if you can, plan ahead and book with a more reputable rental company.
The place was easy to locate and customer service was good.
The back of the truck was very slippery since it had grease on it, there was a leak somewhere causing water damage, and the people before me did not lock the truck nor close the back door and it was pouring rain so the back was very wet as well.
This location, staff didn't go out to check the gas level with client, and than when I return, she said I didn't fill up the gas, said I need to fill up the gas at least 50 litter for driving 90 km?!!!! it's a 15 ft truck only. no truck in the world using that much gas, make no sense at all. I drove out the truck I took a look the gas level is 3/8, but she said system is 5/8.
auto pick up 24/7 is easy but not friendly. I failed to use it but served by counter satisfactorily .

I was pretty frustrated about trying to return it while they were open, and was quite relieved to see that there was no spurious extra charge. All else was excellent, the clerks I negotiated with last night were very nice and helpful, and it all went quite smoothly otherwise.
You get what you pay for (only 3/8 tank of gas and have to bring it back with 3/8 tank and truck not even brushed of snow when I picked it up and no snow brush in truck), but I was surprised to be charged an extra fee $2.50 for paying with a credit card.
The gas cap was broken upon starting the rental contract. This UHAUL location has not inspected the vehicle properly for damage. The gas cap was broken. Furthermore the vehicle was delivered to us with only a quarter tank of gas! As a result, we had to contact UHAUL head office for them to find and then send maintenance help to fix the gas cap issue. We were delayed almost 3 hours!
Speak to customer where to pick up the Van, as there are east and west parking lot in the building. (I assume is at the office side, west, and cannot find the van). Also, I filled gas tank back to 5/8 mark before returning van around Nov 2, around 6.45pm. Upon reviewing your electronic invoice after, the staff charged a gas fill up fee of $8.64. I only traveled 18km during my rental time period. Please refund me this gas amount, or I will bring it up to the Consumer Association. Raymond 416.802.9991
