We got conflicting and incomplete information about rental paperwork prior to compared with during rental. We explained that the rental is a company rental, and that one person would pick up the van (and therefore be a secondary driver) while the other person was almost certainly going to be the primary driver. The rental reservation was made in the latter's name. Since the former was doing the pickup, we were told to be prepared to provide a driver's license. We brought a copy of the primary driver's driver's license. A third person had made all the arrangements. When the van was picked up, we were made to feel like we had made mistakes and that everything had to be redone. Rather than taking a copy of the primary driver's license, we learned that "anyone can drive the van" (which seems a bit loose). Further, when I got in the van, there was a big cardboard sign in the windshield. When I brought it inside, I was told that I should keep it in the van. There was no apology for the inconvenience, nor a bend-over-backward to accommodate me. The rep went out to the van and stuffed it behind the passenger seat. Again, I felt like I must have made a mistake and had inconvenienced the employee. On the return side, we experienced an error on the calculation of rental charges. We returned it on Saturday night (7:15 PM), but it was processed at 9:42 AM on Sunday, resulting in an additional day. This was corrected quickly and by the rep taking full responsibility (well done; much appreciated) but to get an excellent you need to avoid errors that cause us additional effort and time. None of the experiences were bad, and much was very good. The van was a really good vehicle.

I got charged for an extra day, when I actually had the truck back in plenty of time, but they didn't come out to check my truck in, which I was waiting for them to do, and then, when I went inside to talk with the employee at the computer, I had to wait while two customers in front of me got waited on, and then they recorded my drop-off time as 20 minutes after the contracted time. They also charged me for 2 days of utility dolly use, when I did not use it at all (never broke the seal).

Bryan Brooks, I think he was the manager, was amazing! His customer service exceeded my expectations. He was knowledgeable, courteous and friendly. He really made me feel welcomed and appreciated and made me want to continue to be a customer.

Service Manager's personality leaves a lot to be desired. One person on duty at the desk meant for long wait times. Our truck cab was covered in animal hair, top to bottom, including inside the cup holders, and door handles. There were beverage spills, and the windshield was smeared and dirty on the inside. My husband had to spend about half an hour cleaning it, once he got the truck home, as the technician simply gave it a quick once over with a wisk broom. We also had to make another trip there because the first salesman sold us the wrong lock for the truck. That meant another 1/2 an hour waiting to exchange the lock for one that would work. All around poor service, and a bad reflection on U-Haul.

Personnel at the desk went into a story about how he had few trucks and would give me one though it meant booting a family out of having a truck but they didn't do... yada yada and so forth...There were 3 trucks of the size I needed sitting there.....WHEN I picked up the one I drove...

Awful management by Jeffrey Johnson and his assistant. Waited for attention a long time and finally I started by myself. Don’t care attitude by Jeffrey Johnson who claims as manager/owner. Very rude and not answering properly and finally got hold of a small cargo van, which wasn’t useful at all. Never go back to this place anymore.

While I would recommend to friends it would be with the expectation of mediocre customer service. At the very least there could have been some eye contact. I felt as if they had more important things to do than to help me. That being said when I returned the van the woman that came out to help was very friendly and personable.

It should be noted on the website that there are time limits on rentals. This wasn’t the closest location, but they had the 26 foot truck we needed. A few days before we got a call that they don’t rent that size out for more than 24 hours, and we could only have a 20 foot - which I could have gotten closer to home. If that’s policy then fine, but the online system shouldn’t let you make a reservation that you can’t get. Other than that, quick and efficient pickup and drop off.

The staff were very rude when asked general questions, as if the couldn’t be bothered while they took personal phone calls at the counter. The manager was very aloof and rude as well. My last U-Haul experience before this one was great. But this particular location in Keene was awful, with the exception of the person who inspected the truck, they were nice.
