This was not my original rental location. I had to go to this location after finding out that the truck I reserved was not available at the time of pick up. It was very inconvenient. Thankfully, this location had the same size truck available.

When I arrived at the store they had to call the "U-Haul guy" to come down. I had to wait 15 minutes. They check-in then took about 10 minutes because the guy didn't know what he was doing. The truck was also not clean and I had to pull the key in and out several times before it would start. Terrible experience at this location.

The original location for the drop-off truck did not exist and it was very difficult and annoying to find another location to drop off the truck, especially before the required time.

This is a variety store that poses as a UHaul store. When I arrived to pick up my truck, it was parked behind another truck in an alley behind the store, blocked in. I had to go back in the store and get the keys for the truck blocking me and move the other truck myself to get my truck out. The tires on my truck were practically bald. After unloading our furniture at our destination we had to shovel gravel under the tires to get any friction on a driveway with maybe a half inch of snow and a 2% grade. Finally when we went to drop our truck back off at the variety store and tried to use the Uhaul online checkout it kicked me out several times so I finally gave up. I called the phone number twice (at 430PM) and got an answering machine and no call back. The next time I will go to a real Uhaul outlet with real customer service reps. And get a truck with decent tires.

Truck was left on empty, the guy that gave us the keys knew this and said we should go fill it up. The light was on so we had to go get gas before even starting the move. Pretty shocking customer service. The tank should at least be at ?-¼ so the customer doesn’t have to fill it up before even starting the journey. The vehicle still had leftover soda cans from the last person that used it. Again the guy giving us the car would have seen this. The guy gave us no instructions on what to expect when we came back to drop off the truck - didn’t tell us where to park etc. When we get back to the store he isn’t even there so we have to ask the store clerk to call up the guy so we can inquire about the drop off procedure. We were also supposed to get a credit for filling the tank and there was no word from him on this. Overall very bad experience and I would not recommend that location to anyone.

My pick up experience was a BLOODY NIGHTMARE!!!! my moving truck was supposed to be at the U-Haul storage office where my U-Haul rental unit was, and no one notify me that there was no moving truck for that Saturday for that week, which I was told there would be...thank goodness my friends who have dealt with U-Haul in the pass told me about the VERY VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE they experience. so i did my due diligence and phoned the origin of my U-Haul rental unit/office and they told me my truck is not here for the Saturday of my move which was supposed to be!...this would be nice and convenient for me...BUT?? My moving truck was 15mins away for me to pick up (all right then?) i phoned 2 days before i moved and my moving truck is now downtown Hamilton at 180 Queen St South (NO ONE NOTIFY ME!!! AGAIN!!!)...i asked if they could send someone to pick it up and drop it off at the origin of my rental unit, and they said no...i replied this is a mileage scam because i have to drive it back to my "U-Haul rental unit" that is 45 minutes away, so then the customer service rep said we will add x number of free mileage to your rental truck. So overall experience??? i spoke to about 10 different service reps and accts??-> Why?? Just to get things straighten “TO WHERE IS MY BLOODY RENTAL TRUCK” in Hamilton...this was a long week nightmare i also told the customer service reps to stop emailing me and call my cell for easy & quick solutions, which they agree!!!....and nope still got emails "U-Haul" is a brand name known to tons of people with no or minor competition and they gotten lazy and complacent... oh well

The gentleman was not at the location at my pick up time, the store worker had to call him. The truck had not been swept out it still had gravel in the box. The service was pleasant once he arrived and the truck did run well. Location was convenient.

After I had done the on-line booking, I realized that I needed an appliance dolly; I found he web-site unhelpful to make a change, so I both dropped by and called and left a message. When I got there Saturday morning, there was no appliance dolly, just a four wheeled flat cart. It worked, but was not what I wanted. Not the end of the world, but it was frustrating, to say the least.... Thanks

Train more of your employees how to process U-Haul pickups and returns so your customers don't have to wait 15-20 minutes for a manager to show up. It's frustrating to have to wait a combined 40 minutes for someone to arrive who knows how to deal with these simple transactions.

Truck smelt like an ashtray, mentioned to attendant people should not be allowed to smoke in these vehicles, he just shrugged his shoulders. Front driver side tire (brakes, suspect loose caliper) would make clunking noises when coming to a complete stop, then more noises when accelerating from a stop. Mentioned this to attendant, did not respond or take note. The gas gauge indicated to add "x" amount of fuel to return to prior to use level, added that amount, fuel level went way above what it started at, asked attendant to adjust, informed me he could not. Would not recommend or return to rent from that location. I have typically used U-Haul for rentals but will shop around after this experience. Totally dissatisfied.

The vehicle I asked for was unavailable. An alternative one third the size was given instead. Took me at least twice as long to do the move as planned. And that was after waiting almost half an hour for sales rep to meet me at the drop. Terrible deal. Will never recommend it.

We received a call that our 1:30 van would be delayed until 1:45, which we agreed to. However, when we showed up the van still wasn't there and we weren't actually able to leave the lot until 2pm. Normally we wouldn't mind so much, but we were on a tight timeline that day. We got an apology but overall they seemed pretty blase about the whole thing.

BE CAREFUL when you are renting a Uhaul truck from this location. I read the reviews before I rented my truck, and was told to make sure you have a good look at the condition of the vehicle because they will try to make you pay for damages that were already there. I took the initiative to walk around the truck and try to point out the marks to an attendant (however the attendant left\) so I took a photo of a big scratch in the rear drivers side of the vehicle. Thank goodness I did that because I received a call from them about an hour after I dropped off the van telling me I had scratched the car and would have to pay for damages. I ended up having to send them a photo for them to "compare and assess" what I had sent them and the damage to the van. I felt like I was being taken advantage of, especially since I am a young female. I had a TERRIBLE experience. Would not recommend renting.

The man who operates the Queen Street location is excellent, so friendly and professional. My only problem, was that we booked online at the Catherine Street location (Econo Storage). When we arrived to pick it up, the man was clearly frustrated that "this keeps happening". To be clear, he was polite with me, but annoyed that bookings continue to happen online when they don't have the vehicles there. It shouldn't be possible to book online at a location that doesn't have vans. We had been redirected without realizing it to a place that was really not convenient and it set back our moving schedule for the day. I really hope that this problem will be rectified in the future. Just to reiterate, the two gentlemen we dealt with (at Catherine Street and Queen Street) were both very helpful.

The cabin area was dirty due to the areas where people put their coffee or pop or water splashing out and drying to become sticky goop. This is also where I like to put my keys or wallet or GPS or other effects and they get dirty

The person responsible for handling reservations for u-haul needs to be present at the time the reservation is booked. If they cannot be there, the person in the store needs to know how to handle reservations.
