we booked a pick up from Greenwhich, then got a call 20 minutes later that they do not have trucks there. We got sent to Port Chester location. This added to our mileage costs as this was a further drive from our locations. Drop off took almost a half an hour for them to find the reservation, and then we got hit with a $20 service fee for not using a mobile check out.

Had I known better, I would have called ahead to confirm that my truck was in the right location. I arrived only to be told the truck was in Port Chester (10 minutes away) When I drove to Port Chester, they told me the truck was “on the way” being driven from a “remote location.” Bottom line, this was my first and last Uhaul experience.

Better service. I spoke with a gentleman to book a 7am 24/7 pick up and when I got to the location I couldn’t pick it up. They had reserved the truck for pick up with an agent, they don’t open till 8am. WHY was I booked for 7am pick up with an agent when they don’t open till 8am? I called customer service, 1st person said they can’t help me and had me transferred, once transferred, I was told there was nothing I can do until they opened at 8am and they were not sure why that had happened. I insisted there had to be something she could do and that it was unacceptable, she kept saying sorry and that all I could do was wait. I made her transfer me to a manager, who was amazing and changed the reservation to 24/7 pick up. Why did I have to nag to be helped? Why did I have to force them to help me? And why was “no” and “I can’t” said too many times when it was something that could be done when I had to force help? No wonder this location has terrible reviews, I took a chance and wanted to believe they would be better than that. Oh also, when I first called to reserve the truck, I didn’t feel confident that he put in the right information so I called back later, talked to someone else to confirm the pick up information and he said it was all good and set. They were both wrong.

When I rented the vehicle online at 12 noon and picked up at 12:30 I thought I had it for 24 hours I was told that it must be back by 5:30 that evening or 830 the next morning. I was surprised I did not have it available to me till 12 o'clock the next day.

We dropped off after hours and there wasn’t a parking spot available. We had to squeeze into a spot that was not big enough for the truck. The next day we were charged a $25 cleaning fee for not folding all the blankets. Really ridiculous given they need to be cleaned, folded and bagged by uhaul for the next customer. The truck was left cleaned and spotless.

It was a terrible experience overall! The truck was initially not available and the staff at the store had no interest in resolving the situation. And then no one picks up at the 1-800 number! It’s terrible!

The rep from the Greenwich location informed me we can change the drop-off location in which he changed it so that I can drop it off where I would like in the area (instead of the Patterson, NY location I originally had). I asked if Danbury, CT was applicable and he said yes. I had two other people hear him tell me this. So, I go to drop it off at 75 Division Street in Danbury, CT in which the lady informs me that this is not the correct location and that if I leave it there, I will be charged a significant fee. I explained the situation and she did not seem to want to hear it - she was incredibly rude and had no desire to help saying that she was leaving (believe me, I understand when its the end of your shift after a long day and wanting to go home, but there is a way to handle it). The woman from the Danbury location tells me to call a 1-800 # where I spoke with a customer service representative. This representative apparently did not want to deal with the situation either and transfers me in which I receive a message saying to call back during business hours and then receive a dial tone. In order to avoid the significant fee that the Danbury rep told me about, and since I could not speak with anyone, I had no other choice but to bring it back to the Patterson location, now using more gas and putting more miles on the vehicle. I then receive another fee which I'm assuming is due to the overuse of gas and mileage. I am incredibly frustrated and overall had a TERRIBLE experience with UHaul. I would not recommend!

Check out was slow. Done on cell phone by clerk. He says Uhaul keeps changing the software and that slows things down. People were very nice, though.

The Uhaul smelled very badly, unless you like the smell of a petting zoo. In that case, it might have been comforting. It was also very dirty with animal hair, remnants I can only assume from the menagerie. It was delivered from a Uhaul place to my hardware store. I love the hardware store I picked it up from, they were organized and efficient. They were unaware the truck was delivered to them smelling like goats.
